Review from Jessica L.
Edmonton, AB
Coup is a beautiful store full of beautiful clothes and jewellery. I found a lot of items at this store that I LOVE, but unfortunately, on a nurses salary and a desire to make my student loan payments on time, a lot of things are a *bit* out of my price range. And by a *bit*, I mean a heck of a lot :( Thankfully though, they have an amazing sale on right now where the majority of their store is buy one get one free!
The clothing at Coup is "investment" clothing. The pieces are very well made and will last a long long time. I have found a lot of neutrals and "basics" here with a trendy twist, but nothing that I think will be horribly dated in a year or two. If you are looking for something beautiful, quite possibly even exquisite, then this store is a must visit. I have found nothing of similar quality in Edmonton and hope this local business thrives so one day in the future I can take the dollars out of my "Coup Investment Fund" and go on a spree! -

I think that how much you love Coup Garment Boutique depends on your budget and clothing mentality.
There's no denying that the garments in Coup are stunning and well-made. The styles are quite classic, with a contemporary or trendy sort of twist.
I found a black dress for $150 that I liked. Personally I believe that is a reasonable price. Then I found a shrug for around the same, which is a bit much, but OK. (It was quite beautiful, though, all white lace).
My heart sank when the next dress I picked up was over the 6 mark. Beautiful, but wow! Pricey indeed.
My recommendation? Go to Coup, but go with both an open mind about prices. Many of their pieces are so gorgeous and unique it might be worth the high price.Listed in: The Best Clothing Stores, Pricey Places

OK, this review I am NOT basing on price/cost. Instead I am basing this on experience, quality of product, and service.
I dream of Paris almost every day. Having met my husband and lived in Paris, it will always be special to me. It was a raining day in Edmonton, to be expected unfortunately. I skipped across 104 street from Credo and entered into my dream!
Soft, romantic colours lined the walls. Parisan music flooded my soul, and the most exquisite fabrics carressed my fingertips.
What I love about quality designers is their simple approach to fashion. They allow the fabric and the colours to be centre stage. They allow your personality to shape beneath a sheath of perfection.
I finally felt like I entered a clothing store that was up on the latest fashions. Living in Europe you can understand that they set the stage for fashion and trends. In most retail clothing stores, I find that the current fashion is at least two years behind. Not at Coup, they are certainly a leader for defining seasonal style for our modest and at times, timid city.
What I loved is that I was greeted. Asked if there was anything specific I was looking for, was a given a short speil on the lay of the land and was left, THANK YOU, to puruse with no stress.
I picked an item to try on. The most gorgreous dress imagineable. It was very pricey, HOWEVER you when you factor in that this dress is probably not massed produced, it is made from beautiful fabric, timeless style, and extremely versatile and of course UNIQUE -- you soon realize it is worth every penny!
One of the owners that day, Anna, was a doll. She helped me with the garment. Gave me options and her honest opinion.
I recommend this boutique for qaulity inspired, timeless, unique creations. When you purchase something here it is an investment piece. It will be part of your wardrobe for a long time and you will be certain to get loads of mileage! -

I hate to write a bad review of a locally owned business....
That's never a great way to start a review but I have to get this out there. I went to Coup because I saw some of these great reviews. The store is just as beautiful as described - and i've always loved the farmers market. First off - how is this not listed as ultra-high end prices baffles me - over $600 dollars a shirt?! The girl at the store greeted me and gave me the once over - but I felt not "rich" enough to be helped after that point. A very luxurious lady with a Gucci bag was being garnered with plenty of attention and I felt like the less important customer as I tried to get attention to start a room. Feeling snubbed by the staff - i left the store feeling quite upset.
I have to say some of the clothes are beautiful. And if you are an elitist willing to indulge in luxuriously over-priced clothing...this is may be your store. But it you work hard for your money and appreciate not being judged on your handbag...you might want to think twice about this place.Comment from Anna M. of Coup Garment Boutique 10/6/2011
