I have been a Costco convert for years and this one is no exception.
In addition to the run of the mill stuff this place carries some interesting ethnic stuff that I haven't seen elsewhere.
This location seemed to be busier than the other locations I have been to. I am glad I didn't take a car on this trip as I saw several people just driving around looking for a spot. This location is not that convenient if one lives in the downtown core.
If you live in this area its a no brainer. -

Not my favourite Costco but because my mom lives close by we visit often. Samples are always on the very puny side and there are never very many marked-down items. The parking lot seems to be packed at all times with the exception of close to opening hours.
This location has a gas bar which is extremely popular and can generate huge amounts of traffic. I had an eight minute wait at the pumps and it concerns me that cars are idling that long and even longer. So not environmentally friendly.
The snack bar is always crowded and there's rarely a place to sit. The tables are usually very dirty.
Staff are courteous and although they don't seem to be overly friendly it looks like they have a lot to put up with. A quick glance at the return counter found one lady returning a 50 lb bag of dog food that was almost empty while another was bringing back many trays of bedding flowers that she had obviously forgotten to water. -

Finally! I've been looking for this eco-friendly cleaner called Pink Solution at the natural food stores like Big Carrot, Ambrosia, Noah's & Grassroots but I couldn't find it anywhere. Lo & behold, before my amazed eyes they had it at Costco! Costco, the store that likes to wrap almost everything twice. Costco, the store that encourages consumer consumption in mass quantities. There may be hope for you yet Costco! I bought the Pink Solution kit, which was reasonably priced at $49.99. And walked away praying that lots more people would decide to buy Pink Solution while they had their display there. *fingers crossed!*

I find myself visiting this Costco less and less these days. I won't go into the whole "is Costco membership worth it" discussion because honestly, it depends on what you buy. Sometimes their prices are better, sometimes it's not. But what irritates me about this location is:
1) Since this location has started offering cheaper gas, the lineups have to be seen to be believed. I don't fill up there because my time is not worth the $2 or so I'll save, but unfortunately traffic pileups at the gas station area affect traffic through out the parking lot.
2) The customer service here has taken a huge nosedive. On my last visit I approached an older woman working in the clothing section to ask a question. She initially refused to acknowledge my existence, like she's either deaf or I'm invisible. When she finally looked up she had this "WTF do you want" look on her face. I laughed and left because I couldn't be bothered being "helped" by that friggin' loser.
Sadly, this is the only Costco for miles so I'm stuck with them ... blech! -

I LOVE COSTCO. Costco was one of those places that you never really acknowledge until you move out and you can't have it anymore. I remember begging my parents to come down, pick me up, bring me to Costco, and drive me back home.
Think of all the opportunities: 3 months worth of toilet paper, a gargantuan container filled with laundry detergent (the good kinds! for cheap!), all sorts of frozen treats in bulk, GIANT BRICKS OF CHEESE. I used to love the cheap book section and while I'll stick take a look, I generally stick to Amazon these days. Cheap magazines though -- I'm into that. Free samples of food? YES.
There is nothing bad I can say about Costco. Yes they serve food, and it's greasily delicious, but who needs it? Just make the sample rounds and you'll be filled with yogurt and granola and frozen pizzas and even dim sum!
It gets crowded, they have long lines, but they're efficient, and this place rules. -

I typically don't review chain stores and restaurants, but I've made an exception for this Costco. Why, you ask? Because Costco's in Canada rock! Why do they rock, you ask? Because they serve one of the best poutine fries I've ever had! Yeah, that's right. Poutine from Costco is good. My taste in poutine may not be the most developed, but out of all of the versions I've tried in Canada and in NYC, this is my favorite. For about $5, you get a huuuge plastic container of crispy seasoned fries smothered in brown gravy and topped with tons of cheese curds. Pure artery-clogging heaven.

Costco - Scarborough
30 Sec Summary - GAS STATION
----------------------------------------------
1. GAS station is around back - cheap gas ($0.06 - $0.08 off) the regular pump price (MAJOR ADVANTAGE) Note: Amex Card + Costco membership or Debit + Costco card are required (NO CASH)
2. LINE UPS TO GET INTO COSTCO GAS are 10-15 minutes during 9-10am. Longer at other times per day.
3. AMEX REQUIRED - If you want to get in and out fast when you pump your gas get an AMEX card. Do the math. It is still worth it. (Two fill ups per week @40-50l tank, represents an approximate savings of $300-$500 per car annually) Assuming you have two cars and carry fuel tanks to fill up and you can reduce your trips to Costco and maximize your savings. Sign up for a free Amex card online. Avoid the $100+ annual cost and earn + 25000 airmiles in the first year by spending $3000. Use the bonus airmiles and additional points to take a free flight anywhere in North America.
4. Costco Amex - After one year convert your Amex card to a Costco Amex for free and avoid the annual fee) ($110-150)
5. Use the card at the club and earn your points fast
6. Note: The guys in the orange safety vests directing traffic are not Costco F/T staff but are 3rd party hires. They have very poor customer service skills and do not appear to have any idea what they are doing. Lately they have improved but still I have witnessed a few crazy incidents with these guys interacting with customers. Consider it a funny distraction while you pump gas. It is hilarious to watch them talk to new Canadians on how to operate their Costco gas pumps! The new Canadians are more in sync then these employees!
30 Sec Summary - Costco Warehouse
-------------------------------------------------- ---
1. Fast friendly service
2. Huge warehouse (one of the cleaner locations)
3. Tire selection limited
4. Used to offer additional service (like oil flush for your car) - make sure you ask for your oil o-ring back (they left mine on my BMW) and it would have leaked the oil out!
5. Prices are reasonable
6. Huge turnover of goods - always fresh
7. Line ups are reasonable
8. Park at the front and exit to the right (police ticket if you turn left)
9. One note: The diamond section here is cheap if you are looking for rings or pearls!
Recommendation - If you can handle the long line ups @ the Gas Station then come here. -

I'm all about quality food and saving money so Costco is a no brainer. If I had time on my hands i might be getting gas here as well but OY Veh, the wait. So I get best quality in the meat department and so many other items with interesting items you can't get at other food stores, including Williams Spartivento coffee beans - the best ever. Buy the ready made Chicken Pies, shrimp dishes and Italian hot sausage for quick and tasty meals. And yes their fries do rock - though i try not to arrive hungry because they are too hard to resist. This location is also my fave of the 3 in Toronto - great staff.
