Cedar Hill, TX
I finally tried this out last night (Tuesday $5 glass night) and Loooved it! The website does not reflect how it looks now as the new owners took over about 5 months ago and have not had a chance to update the photo gallery. There are about 10 tables in the front part and then the lounge in the back. If the weather is nice, they set up a few tables outside.
I really liked the kiosk setup. They have 4 stations with 8 wines each. You can choose between buying a taste or glass. If you really like the wine, you can buy a bottle to enjoy onsite or take it home. I tried 4 different wines and they were all great. We also had a cheese tray for snacks and again, wonderful.
I will be spending more time there as I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine / service was spectacular. -

I had a wonderful experience at Cork! I was able to create my own wine flight and taste various wines that maybe I wouldn't try otherwise. I would definitely go back.
Don't forget to eat before you go though...no food only little snacks (dried fruit, nuts, cheese, crackers, chocolate) -
Review from Janel W.
Service was good and the staff there really love wine! They were very excited to tell us more about each of the wines and were also very helpful at picking out a cheese platter for us. Great place to try lots of new wines!
There aren't too many tables or sitting areas, but you'll likely spend the whole night standing by the wine dispensers anyway! Basically, you purchase wine tasting cards and swipe them for each tasting, glass or bottle that you want to try. -
Review from Erin B.
Fantastic wine bar for sitting and sipping with friends or just exploring through their fantastic wine selection. With the new owners, the table set-ups are fantastic -- they'll move tables out onto the outdoor patio for you. Great wine selection at reasonable prices -- and what most people don't realize is that they also have a great selection of beer too!

I frequent this wine bar/store all the time. They are very helpful, if you need to pick out the right wine for whatever reason, or if you need to host an event.
I had my engagement party there back in February this year, and it was a wonderful turnout. Stephanie was a great hostess for me, and my 50 guests. They kept my budget for wine, and food spot on! I was even able to take a case of various wines home ( yay for later). It's was really fun, and very special for my now husband.
I love this place. Go if you haven't checked it out.
They have new extended hours, & it makes it feel more like a wine bar now, which I really like. -
Review from Alan K.
I really enjoyed this small wine bar, although the concept of an actual bar table with bar stools is absent. The interior decor is adorned with many slats of wood and of course, wine bottle accentuated by the light piercing through the bottles. I wish they provided more seating in the front, but there is some private seating in the back, although I think it would be better served if there were more seating in the front. In addition, the pricing for a taste of wine (just barely enough for a sip or two) is much more expensive than other places I've been to in other cities. It seems like they put the more expensive wines at the kiosks which makes sense.
I love their variety of wine at this place and the atmosphere is very trendy. The staff here was extremely friendly and definitely knew what they were talking about. I would love to come back here again soon.Comment from Stephanie R. of Cork Wine Bar 12/20/2011

Love, love, love this place. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They always hit a homerun for us and we enjoy going there to try new wines along with a cheese plate.
Can't say enough positive things about these folks and it's a fun way to sample wines from the rotating wine bar! -

During my first visit to Dallas I had the pleasure of visiting this place and its a must for any Wine afficionado! Their innovative way to blend the pleasure of drinking wine while educating you is great. The staff is super helpful and very nice.
My only criticism is it feels like a store more than a wine lounge. I wish they had a bigger area to create a lounge to enjoy wine at and another section to get education and shop for it.Comment from Stephanie R. of Cork Wine Bar 12/20/2011

BIAS ALERT!!! In the interest of full disclosure, I work here, albeit part-time. However, There are many, many Yelpers here who obviously don't work here and who have given it rave reviews. I think this place is awesome. It's not a chain -- it's one of a kind, truly. And I agree with what many have said: the people who work here really do set the tone and atmosphere. They are friendly, knowledgeable and set on pleasing their customers. The owners started Cork purely out of their love of wine and of enjoying other wine bars with nice interior design and atmosphere.
The genius of Cork is that it serves as a great tool to educate the novice, as well as the knowledgeable. The tasting bar allows customers to sample from 48 wines by the ounce. These wines are on a consistent rotation, so you'll always find something new to explore -- whites, reds, dessert wines and sparkling wines. There are several lounge areas, but no table service, which goes along with the very laid-back vibe of this joint.
There also is a small menu, consisting mostly of cheese and hummus plates -- ask your bartender which foods pair well with your wine of choice. -

This is the second time I have been here but both times have been for a wine tasting so I haven't been able to experience the true "process" of buying a card and going around the place to try different "tastes" or just buy a glass of wine.
The atmosphere is nice and refreshing. The employees seemed nice. The wine selection was good (MUCH better than per glass at Veritas) and the vibe of the overall area around Cork is nice too. Next time I go I am going to eat at the new Mediterranean restaurant that opened next door! The other food options are Sushi or Pizza close by....or across the street at West Village.
I'll be back! -

OK, I don't do this often, but it's time for a re-review. To start off with, I'm bumping this little goldmine up to 5 stars. I should have done this a long time ago. Because of the folks at Cork, since I first wrote this review I've become quite the wine lover. They are always willing to talk wine and often have tastings where you can try great selections.
Even though they have good beer and wine, the people at this place make it happen. I actually look forward to seeing them now when I go up. You should definitely stop by Cork if you haven't and see what's going on.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I am kind of embarrassed to say that having lived in the West Village for over a year I never noticed this place until our friends suggested that we go there.
It is such a cool wine bar. Just get a card and fill it up with cash and go wine tasting with anything that interests you and get a glass of anything you like. It is really that simple. I love the touch screen tasting stations, it's so simple and I can take my time in deciding which one I want to try.
We went there on a Saturday night, so it was quite busy. They display their wine bottles outside so While we were hanging out enjoying our wine we just walked around and looked at all the different types of wines they carry and boy they have a quite a list. The atmosphere is great, it is cozy and unpretentious.
I was definitely impressed and can't wait to go back. -

Went to this wine bar after visiting Cru down the road. Wasn't super impressed but didn't hate it either (note: I feel the same about Cru so it's not biased). They are different atmospheres for sure. But when I walked in with my cousins, who are from out of town but HUGE winos, we were immediately greeted by the ladies behind the counter. My cousin's husband, who had previously enjoyed a glass of vino earlier in the afternoon there, made small talk with the the ladies who worked there and even though he forgot to pay for 2 glasses of wine....haha oops!....they didn't harass him. Of course he ended up paying for his previous glasses and a generous tip, but it was refreshing to be in a wine bar where the employees aren't hawking the table/customers.
I really enjoyed the people watching and the different atmosphere that Cork provided, and, side note, Baboush is a great addition! We went to get some take out from the new restaurant and were pretty impressed, esp. with the Kibeh!
Definitely will be back to Cork! -

The place has vast selection of wine at a reasonable price but I would never rent out the back room again.
I had a terrible time there and seemed like I had to manage the inventory every hour to check with the staff at Cork and Wine to ensure they were accounted. I had to constantly ask them to bring plates, new glasses and open the bottle of wine. The staff there seemed more interested in talking about their facebook profile rather than servicing all our guests there.
Go in to Cork to purchase wine, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to rent out the back room unless you are prepared to service yourself. -

What a great concept! I wish they had Cork Wine Bar in Houston, TX!
1. Get a Cork card at the front, put some $ on the card so you can try featured wines.
2. Browse the wines and choose which one you would like to try a sample (around $1.75+) or a glass ($5+).
3. Not sure what to try? Tap on the screen and read about each wine or ask the staff what they recommend. They are very friendly and willing to help.
4. After you receive your wine, find a place to lounge. Enjoy!Listed in: DALLAS, TX

This place is pret-ty cool. I like that you can browse the wines yourself (including the flowery descriptions, which help me decide based on more than a hunch). Plus the wine prices didn't seem to be grossly inflated like they usually are at restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome. It's very chill, which I like.
They also have touch-screen tasting stations where you can sample wine by the taste or full glass. I didn't try it, but it was a very cool idea.
I didn't get to try the food, but the selection was limited which was disappointing. I'll definitely be back, but I prefer a heartier menu when I sip wine. -

Fantastic Concept!!
On my way to a wine bar...I stumbled across this place after leaving Grimaldi's. What a find! It really did put my "old faithful" wine bar to shame!
When I first walked in, I huffed - this is too fancy! What's with the computer screens? Are the employees too shi shi to talk to me?? While I do love my wine, I hate the sometimes pretentious attitudes that follow it. I crossed my arms. But just minutes later, boy was I surprised!!
First of all, the staff was FABULOUS! Even though we walked in an hour before closing, they really attended to us. Very down to earth, very helpful and nice! Oh and did I mention - patient??? Honestly, I'm just not a huge fan of red wine, but even with my limited palette, they were able to point us to not one but two red wines that I now love! Even took a bottle with us to go!
The touch screen tasting stations aren't shi shi - they're fantastic! They let you browse various descriptions of the wines available to give you a better sense of what you're about to taste. The staff then pours for you and fields any questions you might have.
And the prices? Fantastic! You get a little pre-paid card and just wander from station to station selecting the wines you want to taste. Tastes can range anywhere from $1 - $7 and the bottles are priced anywhere from around $11.99 and up.
Last up - the atmosphere. This place is great! It's cozy and intimate, but has good space. Now I was there on a Saturday an hour before they closed, but there were quite a few folks still there and we didn't feel crowded at all. There was even a party finishing up in the back and they didn't make it feel any more crowded. But it is intimate, so I'm not sure if we would've gotten a seat at a busier time.
One last shout out to the staff...after the party in the back room left, they left behind some champagne they ordered (shame on them). The staff gave everyone up front the rest! It was great! Everyone in the restaurant shared a toast to Cork!
I will definitely get back...might even consider hosting my own party there! -

It's about time I got around to reviewing Cork. I have been a regular here for a long time, and let me tell you, this is probably the future of wine bars/stores right here.
Where to start. The concept is kind of like a Dave & Busters for winos. You load up a Cork card with cash, and then they have these ATM type machines across the bar. But these ATMs don't dispense cash. Nope. You pick a wine that you would like to taste, or have a glass of, on the touch screen computer, swipe your card. Then a friendly Cork staff member walks over to some kind of futuristic wine robot that happily pours you your glass/taste!
I don't fully grasp all the technology behind it, but apparently their system preserves all of the bottles they have on tap with nitrogen/argon so Cork can actually open some pretty nice/expensive bottles for tasting or by the glass (without having to worry about the bottle going bad.)
Prices range from $5 a glass to $25-$30 per glass. Tastes are usually about 1/3 the glass price.
You can buy full bottles, order cheese or an assortment of other seasonal snacks, or enjoy a beer from the cold box in the back. Once you have picked your favorite poison from the massive selection, take a seat in the back decanting room, up front in the sofa seating, or outside and enjoy. -

Great wine bar!
Decided to check out the CWB on Saturday night after reading other Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed!
The positives.....
Great customer service. They go out of there way to explain there concept for just getting a taste, a glass or purchasing a bottle of wine.
Pretty nice selection of vino. Each bottle comes with a tag which includes a price & specific details about the wine.
Nice decor & view of the sidewalk and passerbys...good for people watching.
The negative......
I wasn't aware of this place sooner. -

Review # 200!!! WOOT!
Cork is definitely a very unique and creative concept for a wine bar. After living in the San Francisco, I would consider myself wine bar snob but I was still very impressed by cork.
First, the staff is uber friendly and helpful. They were welcoming, knowledgeable, and just plain nice people. Basically this is like Dave and Buster's except with wine. You have a "charge" card in which you load up with cash. Instead of games you have touch screen wine dispensers (the staff fills up the glass and hands to you over the counter). The screen has a little summary on each wine that corresponds to it. Of course they are divided up into reds and whites, making it easy for the novice and expert alike to find what your looking for. You can choose to taste the wine ($2-8 per sip) or buy a full glass. Pretty cool huh?
Btw, they offer a wide variety of wines for sale and some beer also. The store itself is very clean and modern like your usual modern uptown/downtown spot. But don't worry, no douchery here. I'm so excited to have found Cork and can't wait to come back again, and again, and again! -

I love me some vino, especially when it comes from a store with friendly folks. Which just happens to be the case at Cork!
Cork carries wines that you won't find anywhere else. For example, it's the only place in town I've found that carries Miolo Pinot Noir, which one of the store clerks brought to my attention a few months ago and I'm now in love with. At $13 a bottle, it's my go-to choice now.
The store is laid out in a super cool way. It's really easy to find what you're looking for, and the tasting panels they offer is such a neat idea. I could spend all day in here tasting different red, whites and other varieties.
Cork is also very community-friendly: they participated in Taste of West Village, and recently donated enough product for a 200 person party for a local non-profit fundraiser. That's a huge positive mark in my opinion, because it shows they really care about their community.
Next time you're looking for a bottle and don't know what to pick up, head over to Cork and ask the nearest wine expert. I promise they'll steer you in the right direction. Girl Scouts' honor. -

I live pretty close to Cork and I think it's a great concept. They consistently have tasting events each week, which brings the people in, and the people who work there are so freaking nice!!
Here's how you do it. You go in and hand the cashier some money. The money turns into a card that you can swipe at the kiosks where the wines on tap are featured. You can buy a tasting, a glass, or a bottle. Tastings are little, but for little price. Last weekend, I went with a couple of friends and tried four wines for just a couple bucks a piece. All the wines I tasted were really high quality, which was really nice (no cheapies!!). There is also a great little lounge in the back to hang out, and of course chairs out front.
If you don't finish your card, no worries! keep it in your wallet and come back later for a couple more swipes and sips. Easy peasy! -

Dallas, TX
Cork is the gold standard of wine tasting opportunities. Greatest merit? Cork is the most innovative wine concept I've ever run across - Best Cellars and http://Wine.com be damned.
Other merits:
An oustandingly well-educated steward (Wendie Waters, Director of Marketing and Procurement). Personable, bookish, fount of information. Glad to know that she really knows the provenance of the bottles she's buying! And they are niiiiiiiice. Wines change weekly (bonus!), so there's great incentive to return frequently.
An excellent, high tech but easy to understand menu of cool wines to try (from all over the world). Go to your average wine bar and order from a laminated menu. Go to Cork and order from a touchscreen, where the bottles you're reading about on-screen are right there, sitting on top of the computer station. Tackle the first station in part or in full and wander the length of the store to other computer tasting stations. Genius!
Fantastic prices. Truly, if you want to try 15 wines, you can generally do so for just a couple bucks a sip, via a handy-dandy debit card.
If you enjoy the club-meets-wine-tasting scene, maybe Cork isn't for you. It truly is the place to educate a palate.
Downsides: there are TWO
(1) Seating is not terribly plush or ample: this is primarily a retail store with great tasting options. Prepare to sip and stand or have one of a few seats at the front or extreme rear of the store.
(2) No nibbles. -
Review from Alexandra L.
Dallas, TX
I love the fact that it's always almost empty and people rarely go there just to hang out. More of a store than a wine bar. You can order by the glass (opening a tab) or buy a pre-paid card and sip 10 to 15 wines. Had a fantastic chenin blanc from South Africa the other day and I would only wish they had better cheese.
The best: to read and buy bottles.
The crowd: couples buying last minute bottles, middle age reading by themselves, couples and their Ipads. -

Yelpers, thanks for suggesting this place. Went afternoon of 8/21 it was not busy, was perfect for our first time.
Our host recommended a nice Peter Brum Red, which was not heavy yet fruity, as my taste is White Zin. She was awesome and answered all of our questions.
Was a pleasant experience will definitely return. -

I'm not quite sure why, but I didn't expect such an interesting concept like Cork while visiting Dallas on a business trip. I gave a high five to the woman who coordinated our activities for the weekend after we made a stop at Cork for the evening. The knowledge the waiter had about all the offerings was unsurpassed and getting to sample so many tastes was an extraordinary experience. The next time anyone asks me what is a must-see in Dallas I am certainly going to recommend Cork. It was by far the best wine tasting experience I have ever had.

Excellent wines for a fair price. I like the fact that you can do 2 dollar tastings, have a 6 dollar glass or a bottle. It would be cool if they had more tables outside.
Good customer service and recommendations from the people behind the bar.
Would happily go back. -

I truly believe that to learn what wines you love, you need to taste many at a time and next to one another. Where else can you go and do just that without spending a fortune?
The answer is the Cork.
The folks here are very helpful, very friendly, attentive and don't assume anything about your wine knowledge or taste which is so nice. They have 6 or 8 "stations" each featuring 6-8 wines which you can sample (aka a taste) or for slightly more you can buy a glass. The taste and glass prices vary according to the bottle price and you purchase a sort of "credit card" with your own pre-specified dollar amount and it never expires. I go quite a bit so mine always has a little something on it. They rotate their selections every few weeks and if you have a friend who is more into beer, they have a varying microbrew and import selection that can be purchased by the bottle (no tap - sorry).
Bottom line, I love this place! -

Love this concept for a wine bar.
They have digital touch screens where you can find about all kinds of information about the wine (food pariings, origin, etc.) before ordering. Also, you can order a glass for $4-$10 or just a tasting for a $1.50 before you commit.
Cork offers a great range in wine selection and the staff is very knowledgable and helpful.
Oh- and they allow dogs in the small lounge area up front. Always a plus! Half price wine on Mondays as well. -

Flew to Dallas in late April 2011 to enjoy a weekend with my husband who is doing some work down there. We live in Missoula, MT and we were just BLOWN AWAY by this place. Not only are the wines A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and the list super "informed," the staff is what makes this place. All wine knowledgeable and all so friendly by night's end, you consider them friends. Not kidding there! We just had a smashing time, and I had my first-ever $30 glass of wine (Napa's Rudd Red Bordeaux blend - WOWIE KAZOWIE!)... Came in the next day and it was half off on Sundays... just couldn't put it down. But that is by far the most expensive glass and a real splurge. There are many other fine and interesting wines from Napa to Oregon and the Willamette Valley to the Columbia Valley in Washington, and on over to Europe, and South America. Simply put I wish my house was right next door to this place... I'd probably find a way to trade wine for work or something.... If you're shopping for a bottle off the shelf (which you can drink there or take with) this place has a STUNNING collection from which to choose! You cannot go wrong here - even if at first you find it overwhelming as a wine newbie. Honestly, dig in, ask questions, read the descriptions, and taste, taste, taste. Fill your card for just tastes for the first half of the night and by the time it's time to order a glass you'll be well-informed.... Great people, great wines, amazing ambiance. Cool-to-the-tenth-power without being sanctimonious or suffering from terminal "hipsterism."
Also, given their format and super high-end setup for aerating and dispensing wines at the correct temperature, it's SUCH A PLEASURE to drink fine wine here because it's treated correctly and you are tasting it optimally. So sad how many places that purport to have sommeliers or award winning wine lists don't treat wine correctly, serve it at ill temperatures, or serve stale wine from the night before that hasn't been properly put away. Once you drink wine here, you'll NEVER be sorry to send another stale glass of wine packing at some lame restaurant. People glare at me for this in fine-dining establishments, but you know what? If I'm paying $15 a glass and buying a $40 plate of food, it better be fresh! Here at Cork, every glass is perfect (and served, as it should be, in a Reidel) -

Cork Wine Bar could easily get missed in West Village if you did know it was tucked away on a side street of what use to be the "Borders" block of establishments. I expected an uptown feel, but I found it to also be unique. It is the only wine bar that allows you to choose a "taste," "glass," or "bottle." Typically, I only "taste" and make note of the wines that I like to buy at the store to avoid the mark up of Cork. Depending on when you go, seating can be an issue. The look of the place is very modern, and any budget can afford going here. I find it to be one of my favorite wine bars in Dallas.

My wife and I went out on Friday night for date night at Cork. We had a great experience! I really like the fact that you get a card that you can load up with as much money as you want, it never expires, and you can then go and taste or order what you want. One great part is that they give you a "taste" option of trying the wine before you buy a glass, and they actually give you a healthy sample. Between my wife and I, we must have tried about 14 different wines and ordered one full glass. The ambiance is very nice, relaxed and social. The staff was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the wines they offer. We will definitely be going back!

hey Andy P, thanks for reminding me to try this place. WOW! I am in love! You walk in and greeted with a beautiful space full of light, curvy lines, and wine from wall to wall. I love the whole charge card + touch screen to learn about the wines + automated wine taps concept. Really fun and different way to try some new wines. My bf & room mate & I hung out here for a couple hours on a rainy saturday afternoon drinking wine and nibbling on a great cheese plate.
The staff is so laid back, friendly, and knowledgeable about wines. You can tell they love what they do and it makes the experience even better.
Will definitely come back here. This is great spot if you are looking for something fun but chill to do with some friends! -

Ended my night here with a friend on a recent Friday evening. Couldn't find the place originally (it's off of Cityplace West and is not directly on McKinney Ave.) so I called and was given directions by a very nice employee.
Walked in and immediately took notice of the great atmosphere and architectural details of the space. Because it still was a sweltering summer evening, I chose a delicious and economical Pinot Grigio with the help of another equally helpful and nice employee.
My friend and I drank the wine in their extensive seating in the back and enjoyed the end of the evening.
I cannot wait to return! It looks like I've found my new favorite wine bar in Dallas. -

I. Love. This. Place. I love it. It's awesome. For people like me (who has a tendency to get the Kroger 2/$12 Yellowtail special...baller on a budget) they have a good selection of great wines at really reasonable prices. If I'm going ot a dinner party or I'm just feeling fancy, they've got a ton of options for that too.
The way they operate here is genius...there's the person behind the counter so you can ask questions, but all the pertinent information you really want to know about the wine (year, notes, good suggestions for accompany foods) is on the touch screens. You're not forced to sit through a 10-minute memorized speech for every taster you order (yawn).
There's also a cool little case near the back with chilled wines and a few beers...the bf got a couple of those beers and said they were hit or miss. One of em was a real beast, though. I don't remember the name but I'm sure whoever's working will know exactly what you're talking about when you ask. Yeah...it's that distinct.
Go to Cork. Fill up your tasting card. Drink some wine. Leave happy. Like I said. I. Love. This. Place. -

This review is based on several visits.
I like this place more and more every time I visit. I love the space-- it's clean, filled with light and wood and wine! Also, the use of space is diverse-- great mix of sit down space and stand up space. You can use the room in the back for bigger groups, or sit with a few friends in the seats up front. Or you can stand around the bottles and bottles of wine, and drink while you browse.
Every day, they put out 20 bottles that you can taste (for under $2 a pop), complete with information about each bottle... or you can order the wines by the glass. I like how the rotation changes every day, so you know you can always taste something new and different. Plus, whoever the master of wine is does a good job of selecting interesting wines, so you're bound to like most (if not all) of what's on the tasting line.
As is standard with a lot of the wine bars here in Dallas, the cheapest way to go is to buy an entire bottle to split amongst your group, if you can all agree on the same wine. Yay for no corkage fees!
While I'm not a wine connoiseur by any means, I know enough to recognize that Cork has an interesting selection. The staff is also knowledgable and helpful.
Even though Vino 100 (another good place!) is near my place, I prefer coming here because of the space, the light, and the selection. -

I just wanted to add that this place actually has 4 TVS, since above in the description it says that they do not- which is awesome when wanting to watch something like a sports game (GO MAVS) or an exciting award show or what not! The staff is so friendly too that they will let you watch pretty much whatever if you ask-
Such an amazing concept, and the perfect balance of comfort and sheik for its atmosphere is truly unique!!
They do all types of parties in the beautiful back room, or it is awesome just to have a drink and hang with a friend!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!! Tell everyone to go so that this place sticks around for a long while!!!
