I have been to Corduroy twice now and I keep coming back! Well for starters its at a great location (on Cornwall by Cypress Street) and its a very intimate space. Yes its small but sometimes its nicer than going to some massive restaurant. The food is FANTASTIC everything is organic and very reasonably priced. The chicken wings (I have tried both BBQ and salt and pepper) are great, more upscale then the typical pub style wings. Beer is mostly all between 4-7 bucks which is reasonable. Be sure to check the website before you go, they have comedy and open mic nights every week. I went to the open-mic on Tuesday and it was fantastic! I would recommend going with a party between 2-6 people.

What really got my attention on this place was the fact that their food was all local/organic...and it was comedy night too! Got there a little earlier because there was a hockey game on followed by the comedy but i was pleasantly surprised that they weren't trying to draw in that kind of crowd and there were only a few couples there. About an hour before showtime it got rammed with a bunch of people coming to see the show.

Food: Again, everything on the menu is local organic...menu was really small only one page...4 of us shared a bunch of plates...pizza, poutine, dry ribs, and the prawn cakes...the prawn cakes are unreal! So I ordered another one:) Wish they had a bigger menu. I give 4/5.

Drinks: Drinks were really good...$10 boozy mojitos...delicious...and $4 rum and cokes. I give 4/5.

Service: Was bang on! Our server was one of two on that night (its a small place don't think you need more than 2)...she took really good care of our table...super friendly and brought water over when we needed it...its like she read our minds! And even when it got super busy and crowded the service didn't slip. 5/5.

Ambiance: Its a pretty small place but an ok space...i liked the bench seating along the walls of the building, would be a good place to take your date as it gets intimate later on in the night...reminds me of Lolita's a little bit. It eventually got really packed in there and made the place kinda claustrophobic...not really a big deal because we came early and got the good seats. 3.5/5

Price: Not badly priced...was standard procedure for pub food and drinks in the area. 3.5

Comedy Show: The show started about 45mins late which was ok because I had nothing going on in the morning. Only cost $5 which is pretty cheap entertainment...but then you get what you pay for...its a tough gig being up there i get it! Felt awkward for a couple of them but the last performer of the night was really funny and the host from LA wearing the deep v was pretty cool too...cant ask for too much more out of a local comedy night. 4/5

Overall Rating: 4/5 - Will come back again.

Corduroy was described to me as "East Van on the West Side". Despite how many times I must have walked past this place I never went in until we decided to hit up comedy night after the Yelp Elite event. We were there early enough to get seats and grab a drink before the show started.

The drinks were reasonably priced, not cheap, but I didn't expect cheap. The place has interesting decor and the staff seemed super friendly.

I wasn't blown away by the comedy, the host was drunk when she came on which meant she seemed pretty belligerent but what do you expect for a comedy night. The rest of the people weren't bad.

All in all, I'd go back, especially if I wanted a post beach beer and didn't want to put up with the douche factor found at the other establishments on Cornwall.

My favourite spot in kits for a drink.  The crowd is great and I always have a good time.  The food gets beter everytime I go.  My only gripe is that it gets too busy sometimes and hard to find a seat... but then again, that's usually a good thing for the owners!

Walking through the small and almost nondescript door, it feels like you're slipping into someone's dark, cozy den, complete with antler horns.

I like believing that Corduroy is a hidden gem in these parts, but really, I think people might just forget its there, so close to the bits of action on Yew, so close to The Local, but nothing like it. You're almost always guaranteed to get a snug table, sidling up shoulder to shoulder with your neighbour. Remarking to a friend last night, we both agreed: The Corduroy crowd feels unlike the Kits stereotype. They likely aren't spending Saturday mornings pushing prams or gearing up for yoga in their Lululemons. They're not chilling on the grass at Kits Beach (they prefer the winter time when all of the tourists have gone home). Nor are they the clubbing type who are staying close to home at the Local on a Friday night. OMG - they may just be the same peeps who once frequented the Regal Beagle and Biminis, way back -- early in the last decade.

Toss this revelation with a decent menu (polenta fries, pizzas, stew-like entrees), a reasonably priced drink menu, really observant and helpful servers and live music and you have yourself a recipe for a fun, relaxed pub. Plus, there's $4 gin + tonics on special on Friday nights. Bottoms up!

    Le sigh.

Oh Corduroy...how high my hopes were! You are so close to 5th Ave Cinemas...perfect for post-flick discussion over snacks and bevvies. And your name makes you sound so lush and cozy...but, something was missing.

Kinda felt like I was on an internet date where the email banter and online pictures portrayed a certain "za za zoo", but somehow the real life encounter just left me flat (although admittedly, probably due to overinflated expectations).

With a name like Corduroy, I hoped for a place where I would want to lounge on comfy seats for at least 2 drinks, surrounded by a warm interior and eclectic music selection. But upon our arrival, we were immediately left cold by the lack of ambience not to mention the cold wooden bench seats. Am i being a lounge snob? Probably. But it seems to be a lost art in this town. Makes me haz a sad.

All in all our vodka martinis with 3 olives were solid so no complaints there. Service was fine. No food was consumed (we had stopped by Xoxolat pre-movie and devoured a large amount of buttered popcorn - often with no hands) so cannot comment on that.

Would I go back? Probably not. I would rather pay an extra $3 and sip my martini on velvet couches in front of the fireplace at Bacchus...oh Bacchus....

Great service and food. They have live music on select days as well as some comedy acts. I thought it might be to noisy to chat given the advertised entertainment but I was wrong. Will return!!!

Great place for cocktails but I can't say the same about the food or beer (although they do have Guinness on tap).  I would consider it standard pub fare.  It reminds me of a European pub but without the good beer selection.  Live music on certain nights keeps the place pretty busy.   Go for a quick cocktail then get out and head east ;).

Love this place! Been here twice for their Monday Night Rock Paper Scissors Tournament. It's awesome.

All food is $10. Thin crust pizzas with gourmet toppings-brie, duck confit, bacon...and their poutine is so yummy! A large plate of fries, with aged cheddar and a Guiness jus. Too good. Their Corduroy lager and highballs are $3.

They also have screens for you to watch hockey.

Atmosphere is great-warm and cozy, and situated in a great location. Service is also attentive, and makes every visit so enjoyable!!

Hello Guiness and cheddar poutine. Hello chorizo flatbread pizza. Hello Monday night Rock Paper Scissors contest. And hello Wednesday night comedy that is actually funny night.

I admit, I got into the spirit and dressed in costume for the last RPS competition that starts around 10pm. This is quite the happening place when they offer $3 lager and $3 beer. Many Kits residents will hate me for uncovering another local hotspot, but I'm sure you will thank me. Oh, and it's run by a young married couple. I love that!!

Nestled quietly on Cornwall Street is a newish little hole in the wall. Unless you are alert or actively seeking it out you will miss it as it is a narrow little, unobtrusive space.

One of my new favourite places in Kits with absolutely zero pretence and a wide range of novelty hats (think Viking horns, army helmet), this is my kind of place. There is live music every Thursday, comedy every Wednesday and open mic every Tuesday. Hosts a small but excellent menu. The Sun Dried Tomato, Goat Cheese and Rosemary Hummus served with Lesley Stowe aka the Best Crackers Ever, is not to be missed. Great wine list and excellent cocktails.

The bar tables can be pushed together and are perfect for groups and the staff is friendly, fun and willing to lend out the hats provided you don't leave the premises.

This a chill and relaxed joint very hidden away at the very corner of Kits. And I mean really hidden! We almost walked right by it if it was not for the keen eye of my friend. The place is dim and cosy with a very eclectic decor. Half log cabin and half relaxed Kits.

Our server was friendly and efficiently...often coming over to check on our drinks and just how we were doing in general. They have an incredibly stocked bar and a decent wine list. However, I felt that the mark up for the wine was a little too much. They were really accommodating to our "cocktail" expert friend, allowing him to direct the bartender on to make our drinks.

The kitchen is open late (up until 1am when we left). We had the sun-dried tomato hummus and it was so richly delicious tomato...like eating concentrated tomato paste, but in a good way. It was topped with olives, feta and basil, making it the perfectly salty and satisfying late night snack. There were so many good snack choices it was hard to decide on this one! I want to go back for polenta fries! :)

If you want a cool and low key place in Kitsilano away from the hussle and bussle of 4th Ave and Broadway for a quiet night with friends...this is the place to be!

They picked the perfect name for this place. Corduroy makes you feel warm and cozy in every way.  On a quiet night this is a great place to sink into with friends and share some tasty apps.  While the wines are nothing to rave about the food is interesting and eclectic, like the interior of the place which has a muted-kitschy flavour to it.  Both give a feel for backwoods Canadiana accented with sultry house beats and smiling servers.

I hesitate to write a review because I love the thought that this is my own little known gem on Cornwall. Very comfortable, lovely waitresses and good food. Completely lacking in pretention and pomp, but well plotted out and tastefully decorated.  Thumbs up.
