I've been waiting to try out this place for a while. My wife and I are big breakfast fans and are constantly on the lookout for the next plate of breakfast-y goodness.

I went on a Wednesday morning so it was practically empty when I got there (double plus bonus score). I order a veggie omelet (though it looked more like a frittata than your standard omelet).

    It was good.

The service was exceptional but not overbearing which can happen when you're one of the few patrons at the moment.

The menu had a lot of pancake / waffle / crepe options but not many "meat and eggs" option which left me a little disappointed (I don't eat grain based flours) and since I don't eat dairy I needed to adjust the omelet to be without cheese but otherwise I was pleased with my new found breakfast place.

I wouldn't go every weekend but it's a nice change of scenery when you go at the right time!

Me and a couple of friends decided to go here today for brunch. As it was my first time here, I was surprised by the menu prices. But by the amount and variety of fruit I received with my order I understood the price.

After I looked at the menu for loner than I should have I ended up ordering the "Peggy's Poached", which was a plate of toasted bread, a poached egg, numerous sliced fruits, and a bowl of cottage cheese. I enjoyed the fruit and was really pleased with the egg and toast. The cottage cheese on the other hand was a little disappointing. I found it too salty and coming from someone who eats reduced sodium cottage cheese I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.

Overall it's a great place for a nice carb filled breakfast, brunch, and lunch by yourself or with family and/or some friends.

Worst place for breakfast/lunch in the city.

First of all their menu is ridiculous. When you see such a wide selection of items you know there's going to be issues. Also their prices are beyond ridiculous. I don't care how "cute" the passion fruit and strawberries appear on the side of my eggs, that does not warrant $18.

We went around noon and I wasn't feeling the $18 breakfasts, so I went with soup and sandwich. The "soup de jour" was beef barley (gross), and I don't eat mammals (long story) so I asked for an alternative. No other soup available. So I say, "Fine, how about a salad?". Sorry, can't do it. So as a challenge I say, ok, I'll just take the chicken sandwich.

After 40 minutes I receive a half-empty plate with my lonely sandwich. I discreetly (I was with a group) asked the manager why I could not have a side salad. He then asked why I didn't want the soup? "I don't eat meat." He stuns me with:

"WELL, YOU ARE EATING THE CHICKEN."

I am not one to debate my beliefs. I don't harp on about how eating mammals is wrong. I have many friends who are unaware of my eating preferences. I will prepare and marinate fine steaks for friends in the summer. HOWEVER, I do not feel it is appropriate for a Cora's manager to CHALLENGE MY BELIEF SYSTEM over a gd side salad.

I'll never go to Cora's again.

By the way I was charged for the full soup and sandwich meal. Unbelievable!

A lot of my friends have issues with Cora's so I don't get to go there often. They think it is too expensive. I, on the other hand, think of it as more of a brunch spot rather than a breakfast place. Let's be serious, how often at home do you make yourself a crepe with banana's and nutella and call it breakfast? Good for you if you do, I probably want to be your friend, but at my house breakfast is usually granola and yogurt or peanut butter and banana on toast!

Cora's isn't your every weekend brunch spot. I could see it getting tiring if it was! I go sporadically, and always as a last minute decision (or a 2am the night before decision when I get a text from my cousin saying 'wanna go to Cora's for breakfast!?'). If you are like me, you don't even know what you are ordering, you just look at the pretty pictures and point and say 'ooooh I want!'

The only reason it doesn't get five stars in my book is because it isn't perfect for me. This is no fault of the owners, managers, servers or even other customers. It is my personal opinion: There are always a lot of small children. I have nothing against kids, I have nieces and nephews that I love. But they are unpredictable and when there are 10-20 in the room, more than one is going to cry, run around under the servers feet, throw their bottle or scream loudly. Some people may enjoy this, I do not. I like to savour my beautiful arrangement of food and coffee with the polite banter of my friends.

My recommendation: Close your eyes, wave your finger around the menu in a cicle and count to ten. Wherever it lands, that is what you should order!

I've heard a lot of people that dislike Cora's, but it is hands down my favourite place to get breakfast.

The menu can be a bit on the expensive side, but they balance it out by the portions being some of the largest I've seen at a restaurant for breakfast.  The fruit can often be a bit much, but on some dishes makes for a nice accent.

I've not tried their lunch menu (yet), but the breakfast gets a hearty thumbs up (and a trip with visiting company whenever some roll through town).

Cora's isn't great or bad - it just is. I know that it only logically follows that if a lot of people frequent a place that it must be good, but newsflash - this isn't always a reliable equation. I mean, a lot of people voted for Stephen Harper...

Anyway, I digress. Yeah, so this place is bumping in the morning, especially on Saturday and Sunday, but that does not mean you should get in line and follow the masses to an imminently mediocre breakfast. Don't let this place fool you with its bountiful fruit creations, because what's hiding underneath is probably bland and overpriced.

The service is meh and the food is too expensive for what you'll be presented with. Garnishes cannot fool me, Cora's. Just because your fruit is cut sweetly and is as colorful as the rainbow, doesn't excuse a boring crape concealed below. Either knock up the quality of the main course, or else drop those digits. It ain't all it's cracked up to be, folks.

I first discovered Cora's while living in Montreal, and was happy enough to find they exist in the HRM.
The food is good, but the fruit can take over the plate a bit.  It's a good, solid place

Very cheery place. Almost to cheery for my taste.
The menu offered a good selection and lots of fruit options.
I had the crepes and french toast combo with fruit and cream. It was good---nothing great or special. My bf had the crepe stuffed with western omelet topped with hollandaise. It was pretty good--not great but good enough to eat.
Prices are reasonable and the portions are good sized. Good concept but average food.

Note: It's tough to find a breakfast spot in Halifax on a weekday morning. Hence how we ended up at Cora's.

Head to Cora's if you want a consistently tasty breakfast, with lots of options, at albeit, a slightly inflated price.

I personally head to Cora's when I wake up craving their spinach and cheddar omelet. This comes with a side of hash browns, toast and fruit! You literally won't be hungry for the rest of the day at Cora's so I guess that makes it more of an economical option. Just try to stop yourself before you reach the bloated phase. That's the only problem with Cora's; there's so much of everything!

This particular location is always packed so head in after lunch or very early. Be prepared to wait in line. This place is a well oiled machine though, so don't expect to wait long.

Be sure to ask about the daily fruit cocktail!

This is a favorite early weekday morning breakfast spot for my husband and I.  The food is great with a huge list of options, from the traditional eggs to crepes and waffles.  The chocolate brioche French toast that was ordered at the next table looked amazing.  I was almost tempted to ask total strangers for a bite.

And why do I love it early in the morning?  Well...1.)hardly any other place downtown is open that early.   2) It's consistently great - food and service,  3) it's always too packed for us on the weekend.

They are the only ones downtown who do what they do. That gives them an extra star.

Sure, their food is about average, but their food selection for breakfast and brunch beats anything else I have found downtown. Their staff are pleasant although there seems to be a mix between experienced and rookie at this restaurant. So it makes for a lack of consistency with service quality.

But the food is a lot of fun! You can have a healthy or not so healthy meal and still enjoy yourself! I don't know about you, but whenever I want to eat unhealthy food but decide to eat healthy, I never find healthy food that would taste as good as the unhealthy food I've wanted. Still following me? But at Cora's, I don't have that problem. Even their healthy food choices are really good. And I don't miss eating bad food once the plate of fun, good tasting, healthy food is placed in front of me. I suggest trying any and all of the crepes they have! But their standard American style breakfast is really good and everything you'd expect. Sausage, bacon, eggs and thick toast. I'm a sucker for the traditional, and they have it there.

The restaurant in general hasn't lost its food quality. The service is still good but losing its consistency. Cora's is in a great location downtown and they also have free Wi-Fi! So I am a fan, but a cautious one, watching closely and hoping that there isn't a decline in the future. For now, on this day, at this time, definitely head to Cora's for breakfast or brunch. You won't be disappointed!

I really like having the option of going to Cora's for a healthy breakfast, if that happens to be how I'm feeling.  There's a big emphasis on fresh fruit on the menu here.

But of course, not everything here is healthy. Lots of dishes are covered in clotted cream and hazelnut spread and whipped cream and powdered sugar. But oh yeah, that stuff has it's place, too.

At least you can count on a big, fresh meal with PLENTY of whatever you've ordered, and friendly service. There's usually a lineup out the door and down the street on weekends, but it always seems to move pretty quickly.

Cora's is consistently inconsistent. I know that sounds strange, but I've walked out of this place thinking I would never go back again and I've walked out feeling full and content, like today.

The first thing you have to know about Cora's is that it's over priced. Nothing on the menu is worth the amount of money you're going to put down, especially when you don't know if it's going to be great or meh.

The second thing you need to know is that it is very crowded on the weekends. If you're going for brunch on Saturday or Sunday, better make it breakfast if you want a seat.

I wish Cora's would swing one way or another. Meaning, I wish they would either be consistently good or consistently bad because it does make it difficult to give a solid recommendation. I guess the best thing to say is be cautious - if you show up and it's bad don't write it off, but if it's really good, don't assume it's always going to be that way.

By now, this is an established presence in downtown Halifax, drawing folks from the suburbs into the downtown core for breakfast or brunch.

Cora's does breakfast excellently, without reservation.  Their menu is constant and not subject to the whim of the chef, ensuring you can order your favourite every time.

From eggs to waffles, everything at Cora's is served piping fresh to your table in relatively short order.  The fruit salad is wonderful, featuring both seasonal and imported fruits.

I know I've said it before, but you absolutely have to try the crétons.

We came here for a quick lunch since it is near the Citadel area.  Cute diner with moderately slow service.  We got the April 89 crepe (fruit and custard) which was somewhat ordinary and the beef melt panini, which had some flavor.

Fairly priced and they offered complimentary maple fudge post-meal.  Not too shabby.

Cora's seems to the new and latest hot spot for some. I have been taken to Cora's on a few occasions or breakfast and found it a bit pricey.

Order the waffles topped with cream and fruit it was ok something different then the normal home waffles. My friend ordered the french toast which came with some side fruit.

The food was good nothing that really to rave about. I will probably will be black balled waling down the street after this but I am honest. The decor is homey and comfortable and the service is amazing that I can say.

Make sure that you go there early as it is packed on the weekends and it is limited space.
