Warning: this review may be biased, because every time I've been here, I've had great company, great food, and great service. Hmm, I guess that's the point of a review...
Anyhow, I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this place! Their burgers are amazing. Hands down the best I've ever had, and that includes those okay gourmet places like Hero Burger in Toronto. Toppings are creative, like goat cheese and sundried tomatoes and mushrooms. Ah, the mushrooms. Their sweet potato fries made me swoon, and even their vegetarian (meatless!) burgers with a portobello mushroom looked awesome.
And the dessert! The cake slices seem a little overpriced at 7-8 bucks a pop, but once you see the size of them, you'll understand. We ordered a slice to share between four people and it was absolutely decadent. You can also take the slices to-go.
Creative homestyle food, friendly, small-town service, and comfortable prices. There's nowhere else I would rather have a meal in Kingston. -

The meatball sandwich on garlic bread is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten.
Have to agree with another poster that the fries are too salty.
Nice place and friendly staff. -

Arrived at 7:20 pm on a Friday (when they don't take reservations); had to wait until 7:50 for a table for 2.
Atmosphere was great, and the waitress was attentive yet non-intrusive. We ordered the Penny on the Farm to share ($25.99+tax/tip), and had water brought to us. The food was delicious basic fare, but served a reasonable amount (8oz steak + 6oz chicken breast + small rack of ribs + a chicken finger + fries). The food wasn't the hottest when they brought it out to us, which may be a consequence of the specific item we ordered (it consisted various items together). I would definitely go again, as the atmosphere is just right to have a great conversation and eat a casual dinner.
Notes:
- optimal time for arrival on Friday night is 8 pm. -

Oh Copper Penny you're a student dream. CP is an awesome student restauarant. The food is comfort food such as chicken parmesan, poutine, steak, etc. The price is decent clearly evident that they are catering to the student market there and the atmosphere is great. The wait staff is lovely and it's just an overall great place to dine. There's something for everyone and it's just quality food for its price.
They have an amazing dessert menu and decently priced drinks. I never had a negative experience there. -

A good choice if you want quality plain food and friendly service at good prices. Standard burger and pasta fare, but consistent quality and better value than restaurant chains like Kelsey's. Most of the food hovers slightly above average in quality, but the bruschetta is a star. It's not true bruschetta like you would get in Italy, but it's delicious!!! Their fries are excellent as well - they are tossed in a seasoning mix (I believe it's powdered chicken soup) which adds a nice kick of flavour. The pasta portions are enormous, albeit a bit on the greasy side. Large selection of cakes for desserts, ranging from cheesecakes to rich chocolate cakes and excessively heavy chocolate cakes. Personally, the dessert selection reminds me of the bakery aisle at Metro, so I tend to steer clear of it.
Overall, the place is A-OK for a diner-style eatery. Great if you want to enjoy a hockey game over a nice sandwich (I don't recommend the soulaki wrap though, I found it dry and tasteless), but it won't do if you're craving anything more refined than a chicken parmagiana. -

This is a great place for students, without being a part of the student ghetto.
The service is great and friendly, the food is reasonable and tasty, and the drinks are really well priced. The menu has a great selection, and the food didn't taste like it had soaked in 5 lbs of grease (only 1!). I've had better service here than in some of the 5 star restaurants in Kingston.
My complaint. Why would you play George of the Jungle & Disney's Band Camp in a restaurant? Hockey, I get. But those? -

We were recommended this place by some locals. We wanted something comfort foodish that would be good for lunch. It seems to be a student hang out with prices that totally wont break the bank. The location is easy to miss, just look for the Gap. Great French onion soup and clean bathrooms hehe.

my husband and i come here whenever we pass through kingston. it's a really cute place-- probably the best diner we've been to in canada. it's always busy but there's never more than a 10 minute wait, and service is always very quick and friendly.
