When I get to DFW too early I like to stop in Term D then get to my flight later.  Cool River has good service and a decent cheeseburger.  Patty a little bit on the thin side and could have been seasoned a little bit more.

But well wishes to the dude at the bar who's wife, HS sweetheart, left him a month ago.  He sold everything and was heading to Europe for 2 months.  Gotta be tough but 2 months in Europe sounds like a good start to a new start.

I did not eat here.  Arrived at 8:40pm and was told kitchen was closing soon.  I stated that was ok, I can order fast as I already knew what I wanted.  The hostess said she would check with the kitchen.  She came back and told me the kitchen was closing.  Still not clear as to whether that meant I could or could not eat I asked if can I place my order right now and eat?  She said no.  I went upstairs to the Cantina Loredo and they served me an excellent dinner salad in less than 3 minutes!  Next time I will go straight there instead.

Needed breakfast after a layover in DFW, and this place was near the security line we just passed through. It looked clean and had ample seating my wife ordered scrambled eggs an I ordered the steak and egg breakfast burrito. Both meals were decent, but the salsa that came with my burrito was downright disgusting. I had to resort to Tabasco sauce.  The coffee was good but not great. Service was a bit slow considering they were not very busy.

This place was quick, had friendly staff, and served ice cold beer. They offered typical restaurant prices for a steakhouse.

I ordered a soup/salad combo consisting of large portions. I received a full bowl of hot chicken tortilla soup and a full salad bowl of a caesar salad. My husband ordered a beef dip sandwich served on a ciabatta roll, grilled onions, roasted peppers, and a spicy sauce along with au jus sauce for dipping. The side were buffalo chips that were basically homemade potato chips with a spicy seasoned curly fry taste. Our meal was perfect for our hunger at that moment and greatly satisfied us. We will definitely come back if we have time on our next pass through DFW.

By the way, this restaurant is in Terminal D, which is full of stores and restaurants. There is even some artwork inside and more-so outside of the terminal itself. We didn't get a chance to see the artwork, but were told about it by my aunt. She suggested making it a point to see it our next time there at DFW.

With a couple hours before my connecting flights, I decided to have breakfast and found Cool River Cafe in Terminal D. The ambiance is really welcoming with decor, food, music and people. The brunch menu is small with some hearty country finds.  My order was a Three-Egg Omelet with a pot of boiling hot water for Green Tea Pomegranate.

The waitress let me design the beaten eggs. And thus far, I went all out with a Swiss-Vegetarian. An opulent veggie packed omelet (bell peppers, tomatoes, red onion, spinach and mushrooms) was served with toast, hashed potatoes, ketchup, butter and grape jelly.

It got cold pretty quickly, however, it was still wonderful. Great breakfast!

I love Terminal D at DFW! This place is absolutely amazing. The server was friendly and very fast. The food was well worth it. I had the seared ahi tuna steak drizzled with wasabi and soy sauce. I highly recommend it, I don't think you  could go wrong with this meal...

Note: the porportions are a little on the big side, so if you are not that hungry,  I would share this dish with someone else and it would probably be just the right amount.

Lunch time visit with an hour layover's worth of time.

Ordered the ancho chicken caesar salad. Food came quickly, which is of course important at airports. Chicken was nice n warm, and for the most part, the romaine fresh and crisp. There were, though, a bit too many leaves with some brown on them. Not nasty, just shouldn't be.

Also, a bit too heavy on the dressing, which is always a risk with Caesars, I find.

    Friendly service, too.

All in all, got the job done but nothing special.

I'm on my way back from Toronto and I think, hmmm, I need some breakfast. There wasn't very many sit down options, so I eventually ended up at the Cool River Cafe.

Although the service was excellent, the food was flat out disgusting. I mistakenly chose the omelette which I imagine would have tasted better if I would have rubbed in on the airport tile. Yes, it was that bad. Then, I robbed some pancake from my friend's plate. Bad choice!

I know it's the airport, but they should really try a lot harder on breakfast besides that slap of crusty egg and tasteless sausage I had.

The only thing saving this Cool River from one star is good service. Otherwise, steer clear for breakfast and just lick the floor instead.

It's lost it's quality control.  I like the pepper steak salad, but tis time the salad greens has seen better days.  How hard is it to make sure the spring mix you pull out of a bag is fresh.  After all you are charging $17 for the salad.  They also overcooked the steak.
