My favorite restaurant in Windsor.  Food is fantastic, great wine list and everything is reasonably priced.  Cook's Shop has been refining the menu for 30 years now, and not much has changed (including the price for a cappuccino).

We LOVE the ceasar salad, and the gnocchi, and the Beaujolais on the wine list, and the de-caf cappuccino.  The service is always great.  Setting is ideal for a romantic night out, or intimate dinner with friends and family.

Last time we were here my Dad ordered the Italian sausage dish and he pronounced it the best sausage he's ever had.  That surprised me a little bit.

    Consistent and wonderful
I have been going to the Cook Shop for 31 years now. Lino the owner is always a gentleman and a charming host. The food and prices have been consistent. The food is delicious Italian. Many pasta dishes and meat dishes to choose from. I have never left this restaurant disappointed. The prices are on the low side and he has never raised the price of cappuccino. 0.75 cents a cup. The atmosphere is warm and the lights are dim. It is the perfect place for a date or special occasion.

I went here last week for my partner's birthday.  The atmosphere was nice. It's in the basement of a house.  It has low ceilings and dim lighting.  It feels very intimate.  So it was good for a birthday dinner.

The food was pretty delicious.  The salad was wonderful - the dressing to die for.   I had pasta with a red sauce.  The pasta was clearly homemade and the sauce was very garlicky. My partner had the carbonara, which I thought was a little better, but she wanted it to be eggier.   The bread was not so good, as the previous poster noted.   The glasses of wine were small.

Pretty reasonably priced.  Parking in the back for $2.  You need a reservation.

It was a nice night out but not outstanding.  Will go again if I happen to be in Windsor.

Great atmosphere, great service. The guy that told me about this place said that people dont rate it as they want to keep it all to themselves. The food is super good. The salad is awesome. We go here 3 or 4 times a year. I ordered the red sauce and my daughter ordered the sauce with bacon it it( we did not like that at all) The lasagna was great. The steak diane is also super. Desserts were 10's. Make a reservation

My mom discovered this place back in the early 80's and I started going with my then Canadian boyfriend in the 90's. Decade later this is still our favourite go-to place a couple times a year, and he ended up taking me here before he proposed later that evening. We usually eat upstairs at the Pasta Shop (same owner). I love the intimate small rooms. I think after years of going we perfected the order. We order a bottle of red. I usually go with a Rhone priced around 30. Or an Italian red, same price range. We split a pasta dish that the downstairs makes table side. Then we get the most delicious simple salad in the world. That dressing is fantastic and should be bottled and sold. Depending on our mood, one orders a meat base dish like steak Diane. It's very good and comes with vegetables on the side. The other will do a fish and I recommend the shrimp and escargot dinner. WE love dipping the garlic bread into the sauce. It's heavy garlic and mushroom, yum. I'm almost always to full to have dessert. Once I got the crepe and it was delicious. I usually block two hours for the meal. Great place for romance and listening in to other people. Or I spice my conversations to make their dinner interesting. WIN WIN either way!

I am SO glad that we found Cook's on our recent trip to Windsor. It was unbelievable. SO good. There were 4 of us in our party, and we did have a reservation - but I recommend calling in as far in advance as possible, because it's a small restaurant and fills up fast! We couldn't get a reservation until 9:30pm - but it was totally worth the wait. For an appetizer we ordered mussels - highly recommend. They were with a red sauce, which I've never had mussels with a red sauce before - they were the most meaty mussels I've had, and the flavors in the sauce were phenomenal. We then received a massive family-style caesar salad, which we didn't even know we were getting. Seriously, the romaine leaves were the size of my head, which actually made me have to cut up with my knife, but again, so fresh, and the dressing was delicious. We also received complementary garlic bread, which I could have eaten the whole basket. For our meals, we ordered the gnocchi, steak diane, beef scaloppini, and linguini with a shrimp skewer. All were amazing! The steak diane was fantastic, but my favorite on the table was the gnocchi - it was the only dish that our table actually finished. The portions of the dinners were HUGE. The service was great - fast service (especially with the bar), very friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is very romantic. The restaurant is filled with the smells of garlic and spices. This is a MUST SEE place if you're visiting Windsor - but make sure you do your research or you may not find it - it's in the basement of a building and could easily be missed. I don't remember the exact total, but I think each couple paid $75, and that was for drinks, an appetizer, salad, bread, and entrees for everyone. Totally worth it.

My favorite restaurant. I have tried to go right down the menu and order everyone of the amazing pasta dishes. My friend from Phoenix was bragging all the way about her favorite Italian place and after two bites said my place is like Olive Garden compared to this. You have to try the gnocchi. You will be hard pressed to find a better cost to quality than the Cook Shop. You have to make a reservation for weekends and ask for Abe.

I have been going to the Cook's Shop for about 8 years now.  It's probably  one of my absolute favorite places. It is one of the most romantic, cozy experiences I've ever had at a restaurant.  It's very dimly lit by candles.  Garlic bulbs are hung on the wall and Italian music is played.  They cook your pasta appetizer right at your table (I highly recommend the linguini with garlic).  They serve a salad with the best house dressing I've ever had...they will not (i've tried) disclose any one ingredient of the recipe.  It's reasonably priced, and the servers make it a special experience.  The one (small) complaint I have, is, their bread has gotten progressively worse. That's it, though.
