Consignment store - not furniture store! This surprisingly spacious location has higher quality thrift store contents which promise a cool find if you spend the time. I spotted three clear glass tealight holders that I'd been searching for, a candle snuffer (there were quite a few to choose from) and an awesome fake potted corn plant that's too-die-for.

I'm almost afraid to share this little North Burnaby gem with all the vintage greedy hipsters in East Van (I can say that only because I was one not too long ago), but I just have to give credit where credit is due.
Consign Home is a must for any vintage treasure hunter. Lots of great kitchen items and vintage kitchen appliances, some interesting art, and 50's lace table cloth in awesome condition are some of my favorite scores. They also have a decent selection of furniture and tons of knickknacks to plunder through. The prices are reasonable and the longer an item is in the store, the cheaper it gets - so if you're patient, you may get your coveted selection for upwards of 50% off the already low price.
And if that isn't enough, just take a peek into the Tune Room. TONS of vinyl for super cheap. Most is in relatively good condition and I've had some great scores. An original Elvis Costello release for $4.00 and s single of George Michael's 'Careless Whisper' (who doesn't need a little more George Michael in their life?) for a quarter. I've spent hours in the tune room and have been justly rewarded. If you're into vinyl and haven't checked this place out, its time. -

Consign Home is one of the brighter spots along the Burnaby-Hastings strip. It's a general furniture consignment store with a little bit of the usual Sally Anne/Value Village stuff thrown in. What makes it stand out as a great little place though is its price and commitment to an interesting selection.
I ought to preface my praise a bit by saying that living/learning/working at SFU has allowed me to know many employees of Consign Home throughout the years and their helpful tips tended to get me in the store when the best stuff was there. That said, Consign home tends to be 3/4 regular run of the mill pieces but a quite health 1/4 awesome stuff. Whether it's honest antiques or just really hipster-chic kitsch, the staff really has an eye for the good stuff. I personally spent a lot of time considering buying an amazing TV that looked like it belonged on the deck of a spaceship from the 1950s. Another great note about the selection is rarely is anything in really poor condition. I guess that's the joy of consignment focus rather than simply buying/selling.
But what keeps me, the miserly scrooge, coming back is the price. Consign home isn't throwing AMAZING deals out but they keep everything fairly reasonable. In a world where even Value Village will sell a used piece for as much as or more than it was originally worth, Consign Home tends to take the used factor into consideration even when it's something awesome. Everything seems about priced what it is worth, even though I'm sure there is some room for haggling if you've got more guts than me.
Overall if you're in the neighborhood and looking for something fun to add to your decor, it's definitely worth checking out. There's always something to catch your eye.
