Joining the chorus of Coma Love.. I simply cannot get enough of the Korean Pork Burrito.. my only complaint is that (through no fault of their own) they're sometimes hard to find as they seem to move around a lot. They do seem to almost always be either around the downtown library or Railtown, both of which are pretty convenient to me, but it would be great if they had (the city granted them) a permanent location.
They do update their twitter and facebook to let us know where they'll be though, well worth tracking down! Decent prices for deliciously large portions. -

Bring back Coma! The city of Vancouver really screwed up on this one. Coma was by far my favorite food truck and trying others reminds me how much I miss it. No burrito I have had since has measured up to their spicy pork.

Coma Food Truck is such a neat fusion of Korean and Mexican food. I had the spicy beef burrito. It was filling, being full of meat and egg. Even though it was "spicy", it didn't burn. The sauce was actually a bit sweet, which offset the spice. There were also some green peppers and tomatoes in the mix. Good stuff guys, give it a go!

Are you serious?!
Menu pictures are usually the ultimate presentation of a restaurant's food. Photographically-perfect versions of the same meals that are unattainable in the real world, especially in the fast food world, and especially from a food truck. I've now seen a different side of this theory. Somehow this food truck performs magic behind steamy plexi-glass, and presents you with something better than you're expecting. Yay for poor photography!
The whole setup goes off without a hitch. One of the friendly guys even comes out on occasion to explain the nuances of the ingredients to those eagerly but cautiously perusing the options, wondering what the difference between Bulgogi and Bibimbap is. The menu changes sometimes, so don't rely on the website, and it could be confusing to match up a picture with the price list behind you, but that's the only flaw. Everything is perfect. While waiting for my meal, I was given a Korean miso soup - seaweed, tofu, enoki mushrooms and spices. A perfect appetizer while standing on the sidewalk on a cold day.
The spicy pork burrito. Wow. Spicy. Filled 'n Grilled. Solid. 5.99. Thrilled.
The bibimbap. Hearty, interesting, flavourful, with lots of ingredients. A meal on it's own. 6.99.
I had a maelstrom of emotions eating these meals. The spice, the robust flavours, the combination of ingredients, the jealous onlookers eating their cheap slices of pizza. The "look what I'VE got" taunts back at them. It's all part of the experience. And it definitely makes me want to go back a second time in the same day.Listed in: Yelp's 30-day Challenge

I've been dying to try this place. As a Korean who ranks Mexican food very highly on my hierarchy of "ethnic" cuisine, Coma Food really spoke to me.
Call me a die-hard, but I went to extreme measures just to try this food truck (not to be revealed here). Important note: they are currently not at their downtown location. Be forewarned. It is recommended that you bring along someone with a smartphone so that you can track their every movement via Twitter and chase them down.
Obviously, I had spent extensive time perusing their menu online before I arrived, but ended up completely modifying my order once the friendly guy shivering outside the cart informed me that almost everything on their menu can be made meatless. This meant that I was no longer precluded from ordering the burrito, so I was all over it (the kimchi quesadilla will have to wait until next time). Possibly learning from previous experiences, he also double checked to make sure that I was okay with cheese. Cute. My smartphone wielding chingoo (er, "friend" in Korean, not a derogatory slur) ordered the beef burrito, and we were offered soup while we waited.
The burritos come well wrapped (a common peeve of mine) and grilled. The vegetarian version comes filled with tofu and other tasty things like kimchi, peppers, corn, and cheese. The meat versions are probably more flavourful than the meatless, but that's no fault of theirs. We chatted with the friendly guy (presumably Jay?) while we ate, and he informed us that the food truck is family run. Double cute.
For a food truck, at these prices, with this kind of friendly service, it's really hard to fault them for much of anything. I will definitely be hunting them down again sometime to try some of their other offerings. -

I confess..
I've eaten my way through their entire menu during their stint in Fairview (come back PLS!). I've experienced withdrawal every Wed since they scored their DT location. Mourn for me.
What I love:
burritos - pick spicy pork. an absolute flavour bomb.
cold buckwheat noodles - icy, quite spicy, I more than kinda like-y.
bibimbap - 1st truck to offer this in N.America. puts to shame some stonepot bbb's I've had recently.
japchae - the small is a steal of a deal for lunch.
service - they didn't leave out the cheese in my burrito as requested one time. Which I forgot about until Jay (owner & chef) came up to me the next wk & offered to throw in a drink with my meal. I declined.
But that classy gesture alone is 5-star worthy!
value - fresh & made to order. generous portions for the $$.
What I need:
my next fix. bring on the tacos! -

Sounded like a strange marriage - Korean and Mexican - but it works! Visited it today for the first time because they somehow made their way to Broadway, landing right smack in front of the Michael's on a rainy and awful day. Boy am I glad that they did!
We ordered a beef kimchi burrito and japchae. The burrito was unlike any I've had before! The bulgogi inside was marinated long enough to give the right amount of garlic flavour to meat. The filling included tofu and rounded out with kimchi and the whole package was wrapped in a soft tortilla! Yum. We also ordered japchae that seemed freshly prepared (steaming hot - perfect for a cold and miserable day) that consisted of glass noodles, tender crisp veggies and the right amount of sesame seeds! Only bad thing to say was that the japchae was a little greasy at the bottom of the dish, thanks to too much sesame oil, but I guess it is a trade-off - tasty sesame goodness vs too oily. I'd take the former any day!
Finally, while we waited (~5min) for our order, we were given a small bowl of Korean-style miso consisting of the usual suspects (tofu, miso, nori) with a bit of Korean spice thrown in for good measure. Great on a rainy day, altho I am pretty sure I'd enjoy it on a sunny one too.
All in all, a great meal for a fair price. I'll be eating at this truck if I spot it again! -

Tried their new item on their menu. The Chili Dish Chips. Amazing flavours for sure, and it was VERY cheap for such a good dish too. I know they had it on their menu for the Hockey game but i do wish they put it on their regular though. I enjoyed it a lot, for sure. Wished they brought it back!!
The new item on their menu recently for the past month has been the Korean Cold Noodle Soup. It has a VERY Korean feel to the dish. The ice cubes they placed in it really makes the dish more of a noodle soup after it melts. Give it a perfect taste to it so the noodles can soak in the perfect flavour.
I for sure enjoyed their new menu items a lot! I hope new inventive things do come along. Now to try a different food cart! EAT STREET! LEAD THE WAY!!1 Previous Review: Show all »

* Fusion that works *
So often fusion fails miserably. After a recent Korean-Mexican fusion fail at Roaming Dragon (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) I needed to let the Korean Mexican fusion redeem itself. Enter Coma.
These guys do fusion right!
I arrived at their Railway location near Aritzia's HQ just a little bit after 1pm and they were starting to close up to move to their next location. But they instantly offered to power back up and agreed to make me lunch! (Turned out well for them because while I was waiting at least 5 other customers ordered too!)
I ordered the Korean style spicy pork burrito (they were already out of the bulgogi version, which I will definitely try in the future). While waiting they offered up a cup of Korean style miso soup with some mushrooms floating in it. This was a welcome bit of warmth in the rain - nice touch!
The burrito itself was nicely wrapped and grilled on the outside to give a pleasant crunch while still having a softness to the tortilla inside (Photo of outside: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...). The quality of the tortilla was surprisingly good. I wonder where they source those?!?!
Inside the spicy pork was tender and very flavourful, being highlighted by the Korean chili sauce it had been cooked in. The kimchi and crumbled tofu both added nice textures and flavour components. There was also a little bit of cheese (without being overpowering) that had been melted a bit onto the tortilla before wrapping, instead of just dropped it in raw - nice! Overall a very satisfying fusion burrito! Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
At a very reasonable $5.99, with friendly helpful service, good flavours, and the nice touch of complimentary soup to warm up while waiting, this is a definite repeat! -

Kimchi. Burritos.
Yes! Finally! After having my first taste of the 'Korean tacos' at the Kogi food truck in LA, I've been waiting patiently for something like it in Vancouver.
The arrival of Coma was perfect. I was able to grab an early dinner from them as they were in the Kits area.
A simple menu consisting of 6 items. Quesadilla, burrito, stuffed seaweed rolls, bibimbap, kimbap, and chicken nuggets. I spoke to the owner Jay, and he gave some recommendations
I got the Korean BBQ pork burrito, with Korean style pork, corn, cheese, and sauteed veggies. Waited for about 5 minutes as they prepared it.
The result? One amazing flavorful burrito!! Lots of tender pieces of pork, doused in a mild spicy sauce, with the sauteed veggies (corn, green and red peppers), and the cheese (feta?), wow, this was very tasty!!
I'm going to be back soon to try out the other items!!Listed in: Food Carting.

These guys should have been given a regular permit. Instead, they've got a mobile food cart permit meaning you'll have to track them down via their Twitter feed. On the up side, you may stumble across them like I did on Broadway near Cambie today.
I got a Korean spicy pork burrito with kimchi. While I waited, they handed out some complimentary miso soup because it was cold. The food was ready fast enough and I have to admit that it was pretty darn good. As burritos go, it was wrapped perfectly with all the ingredients mixed in to every bite. The pork and kimchi really blended well to give it a creative and nice flavour. Heck...I don't normally like kimchi but I risked it to try something new and it was all good!
If you see these guys in your neighbourhood, give them a try. You won't be disappointed! -

Wednesdays - Cambie & Broadway. 11:30am - 2pm. I sent myself an email to remind myself so I wouldn't forget today at work. I was their first customer at 11:30am.
I ordered the spicy pork burrito. As I was waiting for it, I almost went back and ordered the stuffed seaweed rolls with sweet potato noodles & veggies because I can't resist deep fried food. I decided I would see how my burrito was first and have it on my next visit, possibly... Plus I had no idea how much food would be served.
About 5 - 10 minutes later I had my burrito in hand and went back to the office to eat. It was soooo good! Sweet (not overly) and spicy (mild - though one bite was spicier than the rest). Loved the kimchi, the tofu, the cheese...loved it all. There was no rice/beans in it but it felt that filling! I had trouble getting the last few bites in because I was stuffed, but I managed anyway. It was too good to stop eating it! It is dinner time as I write this and I'm still not hungry!
Next week - seaweed rolls for me! I will be here every Wednesday to try the whole menu. Delicious!!!Listed in: West Broadway (Fairview/Mt.…

Surprise!
Yes, it's a korean burrito!
Yes it's kimchi in that quesadilla!
...And yes it's delicious.
Had the beef burrito and was incredibly surprised to find it with kalbi instead of bulgogi! It was also had soo much meat and cheese with some bits of kimchi in it. Boy was it filling. I would've liked less meat and more kimchi though.
Had a slice of the kimchi quesadilla and that was good too. They put a lot of kimchi in it (which is fantastic) and I think some of the juices are in the tortilla as well.
Overall, it was tasty but also very heavy. Really, they don't lie when they call their business "Coma Food." -

Foodtrucks seem the new big thing in Vanvouver. I know Foodtrucks from Europe and over there they are ok for a snack and mostly serve nothing special.
Here on the other side we have something different. Korean-Mexiacan Fusion sounds a little strange but tastes really good. I just had the Quesadilla with Kimchi because I was on the run, but it was excellent.
And while I was waiting for the quesadilla to be ready I have been served a little Miso soup - and I must say, one of the best I've had in a long time.
I'll be back to taste the other items. -

Their bi bim bap was picture perfect, I mean it was healthy all the way. Usually I don't buy things like that; they have to be deep-fried first. It came with a kimchee-miso soup which I heartily approve. Because I think I'm Japanese. Sometimes.

Being from California, home of the food truck, my food truck standards are pretty high. Coma has Delicious Korean/Mexican/Canadian Fusion! Friendly people working the truck and large portions for the price! I will order the kimchi quesadilla (more kimchi please) & spicy pork burrito again. I can't wait to try the other dishes. Coma food truck is the best on a gray Vancouver day!
