One of the best pizza in Ottawa! Load with topping and happiness!! Love love their meat lover pizza! The only downside is usually feel really guilty after eating there. So good that it's hard to stop  eating :(

A lot of people rave about this place but honestly it's not that great.  With the limited options in Ottawa I understand the love for this place but it doesn't  hold up to good pizza in other cities.  It's not even the best place in town in my opinion.

The first time I tried it I thought wow that's not bad but I think it was different more than anything.  The second visit I realized how greasy the pizza is and not in a positive way!  Yes there is good greasy pizza...go to Buffalo and you'll know.

The pizza is ok but for the price there are better options.  This place is still much better than what I call the Ottawa style pizza, pie halfway to a Chicago deep dish that has half cooked crust and way to much string cheese.

Honestly though, try it once you might love it, some of my friends swear by it but it's just not for me.

Despite all the reviews that have been raving about this place, I completely disagreed that this is "Ottawa's Best Pizza" ... but then I thought about it a little more, and I couldn't name a better pizza place in Ottawa.  How sad is that!?!?

The pizza had its high points and low points.  Good crust, the toppings were both fresh and fantastic, but the something about the sauce or bread just had an off, vaguely bitter hint to it.  It was a bit soggy and greasy, too, but at least it wasn't burnt and crispy?  EIther way, I shouldn't have to justify pizza like that.

So maybe they're better than the competition, but it's also kinda like being the smartest kid on the short bus.  Sorry!

Let's tour my new pizza rating system:

CRUST TEXTURE: Thick - a soft/chewy/doughy crust with a crisp bottom - usually the cheese leaks down the sides of the crust, ALL THE WAY AROUND. Overflow of crispy baked cheese goodness. There is literally NO bare crust visible on this pizza.

CRUST FLAVOUR: Tastes natural. No weird chemical/preservative aftertaste. The crispy cheese wrapped around it gives it extra tastiness, clearly.

SAUCE FLAVOUR: Mild. Quite tomatoey, no herbal profile. They are light-to-medium-handed on the sauce. Trust me - the sauce isn't why you go to this joint, but it's not offensive in any way - just takes the back seat.

SAUCE AMOUNT: They are light-to-medium-handed on the sauce. You can request a specific amount if you want (light/heavy).

CHEESE FLAVOUR: It's real. It's got that REAL cheese tang - I think it must be a mozza-cheddar blend or something. But it's very rich, very flavourful, just salty, creamy awesome!

CHEESE AMOUNT: Totally ridiculous. Artery-clogging, takes a long time to chew, lactose-fiesta-inducing THICK layer of delicious, bubbly, overflowing cheese.

There are THREE contenders for the cheesiest pizza I've ever had:

    1. This place.

    2. Stobie's in London (drunken pleasure only while stumbling home... it's ALWAYS undercooked..)
    http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    3. Greco's in North Bay
    http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

TOPPING QUALITY: Above standard for take-out/chain pizza, sub-par for a pizza restaurant (just in selection, really). Everything is fresh, but the variety is lacking.

TOPPING AMOUNT: Generous. Apparently the heavy-handed approach is used across the board of toppings!

PRESENTATION: Casual. This is not an upscale Italian place. This is your friendly neighbourhood family pizza place. It comes on a plate if you're eating there, and it comes in a box if you get delivery. 'Nuf said.

OVERALL TASTE: My favourite 'za in Ottawa. That rhymed. Nice! And, as we all know, I am NOT a thick or even "regular" crust kind of girl - I'm all about the authentic Italian thin, crispy crust. But I make some exceptions now and then, this place being one of my favourites!

I found this place to be pretty good pizza for the money.  Not amazing, but a more "Montreal style" pizza than anything else I can think to compare it to.  The "small pizza" is just right for me, an "individual" would have been to small.  The large looked big enough to share for about 2-3 people depending on the eaters.  So for $15 I was satisfied.

The onion rings were quite nice as well... someone at the table ordered them and quite enjoyable.  Perhaps could be split by 2 and are only about $4.

Before going I was told "This is THE pizza place to go to in Ottawa."  Though when asking people's opinions of it, people were rare to say that it was "good" but rather just "the place to go."  So take that for what its worth.

So overall, food was good, but not amazing.  Service was a little slow, but then again, we were a big group.  I'll come back if I end up in Ottawa again.

Overpriced, and really greasy. I couldn't finish much of it because it was just so cheezy and so oily.

I split a pizza (4 slices each) and it was $20. To me it wasn't worth it.

Perhaps they were better back in the day, but I don't see what the hype is about this place.

This place for me feels more like a normal place for pizza.  Nothing to really write about. Nothing special here...I try something else.

There's very little I have to say about this place other than: it's the best pizza in Ottawa! Go! GO! The toppings are fresh, they put a heap of cheese on their pizza and the overall quality is incredible. Unfortunately, their prices are high ($20-$25 for a large pizza). Also, I hate that they don't have delivery. If you want to experience Colonnade you either have to eat in at one of their four locations or get take out. It's somewhat upscale for a pizza joint, but it's still fairly casual.

    Definitely try their Mediterranean pizza!

The pizza was drenched in cheap cheese-- like eating a flap of deep fried cheese.  The pizza here will appeal to those who like junk food-- the pizza is mostly tasteless, becomes soggy and oily with the cheese overload.  Foodies be warned.

I always love taking visitors to Ottawa here.  The service is down to earth, the pizza is excellent and price is good.  Try any one of their pizzas. All good.

This has the potential to be great pizza...but, they put WAY too much cheese on!  I love cheese, but this regular pie had a literally sickening amount of cheese on it.  I can't imagine who would like this.  Awesome crust and sauce, great ambiance in the restaurant but please cut back on the cheese.  If I ever go back I will ask for 1/4 the amount of cheese they regularly slather on!!!

The things I find important in a great pizza is a crispy crust (not soggy), lots of cheese and a good garlic sauce.  To me Colonnade Pizza is all that.

There's no "two for one" deals at Colonnade.  The deal is that it's the best pizza in Ottawa.

I LOVE this place! I've eaten at so many pizza places that I can't even remember, but this one is simply unforgettable. My boyfriend and I walked into the restaurant and sat ourselves. We ordered bruschetta to start and a personal pizza each for lunch on a Friday - his was the Meat Lovers and mine was the Mediterranean. Though the decor is completely outdated, a bit drab, and there isn't very much sunlight, the place was fairly packed. Since the menu isn't too extensive, we quickly decided what we wanted and the waitress was took our orders right away. It's pretty pricey for pizza in comparison to your usual pizza places, but it is a dine-in restaurant and the quality is far beyond any other. There is a ridiculous amount of cheese on every pizza, with all the toppings baked underneath. The ingredients are fresh and the crust and outer edges of the cheese are crispy. They also have parmesan and chili flakes at the table to serve yourself. We were absolutely stuffed and even took some of the pizza home - even their personal pizzas go a long way, and that says a lot coming from a big eater like me!

Probably the best pizza in Ottawa, but that doesn't say much as Ottawa is not really a pizza mecca. They know they are the best in thsi town, and with so few options, the can charge what they want. Overpriced.
