One of my families favorite spots to go in Dartmouth! It's great to have such a great spot so close to home. Tonight I had the baked Salmon with veggies and mashed potatoes.........SO DELICIOUS!!! The staff is super friendly and are always helpful in helping you make the tough decision of what to eat!!
I love this restaurant and will continue to visit!! -

What a horrible experience.
Mike and I went to Cole's for a relative's birthday. Even though reservations had been made well in advance for our group, the server seemed flustered and disorganized. It took forever just to get our drinks, and she didn't seem too happy to be serving us.
I tried the Montrealer burger, which comes with a steak rub and a bunch of fixings. I asked for my Montrealer to be lettuce-only. So of course it came with cheese. Thirty seconds later I had a new patty ... which was lukewarm at best. The "steak rub" was a blob of sauce that I had to spread on my burger with a knife. The lettuce on all the burgers at our table was white rather than green. The fries were meh. Others had the chicken pot pie (not good), Caesar salad (I've never seen black croutons before) and milkshakes (I tried a sip and could only taste chocolate syrup. Supposedly there was ice cream in there somewhere). No one was particularly happy with their food.
Service was s l o w and the simplest entree, a chicken sandwich, took the longest. We were halfway finished lunch before it arrived. The only things that arrived in a timely manner were our bills.
Needless to say, we will not be returning. -

I've been twice, both times great experience. Once for breakfast, the other for lunch. Hot sandwiches are excellent, although the gravy was a bit peppery, gave it good flavor. Try the Western! I'm not a big breakfast person and very picky about my westerns and this one is fantastic! Fries and hash browns all great. My dinner companion actually ate her veggies (uncommon occurrence).
Excellent service, friendly neighbourhood feel. Decor is very nice, love the wood tables. Food is always HOT.
Great place for a family, quick meal, not just pub food but real homestyle eating. Can't wait to try the mac n cheese. -

Great little spot if you're looking for something to change up your everyday routine. Great takes on restaurant classics, (great) pub-style food. The home cut french fries here are awesome and they make a mean hamburger (an entire page of the menu is dedicated to different types of burgers, "the roadhouse" was really good and I was afraid of trying "the back-door burner". I tried the teriyaki stirfry here and it was nothing special, but of course that wasn't the speciality. Go here on wednesday for a $2.99 burger with your drink order special.

Back when we first moved into our house in Dartmouth, there wasn't a whole lot around for nice, local dining within a short driving distance. Even though this was only three years ago, I'm thrilled with the number of new businesses and new discoveries we've been able to make including a little diner named Cole's.
Yeah, I'm a little sad that the Indian place didn't last, but considering I paid a $15 bill for two tasty lunches at Cole's yesterday, I think I'll get over it. Burger Wednesdays make their full page of creative burger options stupidly cheap, not to even mention their other daily specials that do the same for the rest of the surprisingly large menu.
I had the Karma Burger (the only vegetarian option) which was essentially a rice croquette burger of sorts. Tasty, filling, and a nice twist on the typical veggie burger, but I'd probably skip it next time and go for the mac 'n cheese or something a little more flavourful than a rice-based main course. Still, it was a sizeable plate with fries, so no major complaints for me.
Service was friendly, welcoming and definitely fitting of the neighbourhood restaurant they boast. The interior has been redone in a lovely blue colour including a really nice section of comfy chairs by a faux-fireplace that I'll definitely be hitting up over the holidays! -

I went here a while back with some family and our experience was pretty decent. The restaurant was fairly empty at the time and we sat at a table for six in the back, it looks like the restaurant is set up to be able to hold a lot of larger tables near the back which would be good for having a meal with a larger group. The decor is inviting and and I love a good booth seat :)
We mostly all ordered burgers, I had a mushroom Swiss burger which was likely cooked over a flame which is great, but it was cooked a little too much which made it a bit dry! My sweet potato fries, while super greasy, were still good because I loves me some grease! Salads were fresh that we're ordered and our meals all came out within reasonable time.
Not blown away but it's your standard pub food, and I would definitely go back for a beer and some nachos, it's always good to have a place like that in the neighborhood! -

The first time we tried Coles, the little restaurant was so busy that we never even had a chance to get a table. The hype around the new place seems to have cooled down, because just two weeks later the place was only half full at dinner time on a Thursday.
The spot is in the same place where several other little restaurants have failed, most recently India Palace. Hopefully Coles will have enough staying power to stick around, because it's a decent spot.
The menu contains your typical appies, with nachos, potato skins, and other pub staples. Their burgers are their specialty, as they have a whole page devoted to regular, spicy, and other twists on the sandwich. Each patty is homemade and made to order. The Pittsburger is the only stuffed burger, with cheddar. The gooey center is very hot and messy, so be careful, but the waitress is nice enough to alert you of this. My companion had the Roadhouse burger, topped with onion rings and BBQ sauce. He enjoyed it as much as he enjoyed saying "Roadhouse." The fries, both sweet potato and regular, are home cut and fried to golden perfection. If burgers, (beef, chicken, or fish) are not your thing, there are a few other options, like club houses, chicken wraps, salads, and a few seafood options.
The place is nicely decorated, if simple. A few banquettes line the back area, and the main dining area have simple wooden tables small and large enough to seat any party size. A few TVs are placed on the wall but seem unnecessary and out of place. A small bar is also available at the front.
The staff are friendly. Our waitress was nice, and seemed knowledgeable enough of the menu to offer recommendations.Parking is limited, so come early. But if you're in a rush, you can order take out. The only downside is that they don't have a a website with an online menu, so unless you're familiar with the place or have been there before and have a copy of their menu, you'll have to walk in to place your order. -

My first and last visit! We were there for a birthday celebration earlier today. The waitress seemed a little confused, the food was very slow coming and when we did get it, it was of poor quality. I had the chicken pot pie, had to search for the chicken, found a few burnt pieces, the outter rim of the pastry was golden and the middle was pale and barely cooked. I don't know how anyone can ruin a milkshake but they managed to do that as well. The waitress was quick to bring us the bills, the only time she moved with any speed. I had actually heard this restaurant was very good but there was no sign of it today sad to say. There were 14 of us and I don't think more than two people enjoyed their meal. Another for my "places to avoid" list!! Too bad there wasn't a half star rating!

New this month to Cole Harbour is aptly named Cole's Restaurant. Cozy, comfortable and relaxing. Seat yourself (we took the back corner booth) and browsed their menu. Burgers are their claim to fame, so we had to try one. Me I was tempted by the Backdoor Burner (super spicy!) but went for the Roadhouse (had onion rings on it!). My dinner partner went with the cheese-stuffed burger. We upgraded our order to sweet potato fried for only $1.50 a plate. Nice. Burger plates are only $8.99 and you have about a dozen to choose from. Burger-licious!
The meals were good, but not mind blowing. The burgers were nicely grilled, but mine was a bit on the dry side, and the cheese-stuffed burger didn't hold up well, the cheese was just a greasy goo (though tasty). The sweet potato fries were good, a bit on the greasy side, but still hot and crispy. I had mine with curry mayo sauce for dipping.
I ordered a tea with my dinner and liked the fact that it only cost me $1.59 for a small 10oz pot. It is a peeve of mine that most restaurants charge over $2 for a teabag. Only complaint about the tea is the cup that came with was about 16oz, so the small pot only filled it 1/2 way. Smaller cups or a larger pots. But hey, they are new and working out the kinks.
Another thing I noticed was a flat screen TV at the back of the seating area. Really? Why a TV in a family restaurant?
A good first experience, we'll be back to try other selections on their vast menu. Maybe for breakfast, I saw on their sign they have a $4.99 deal!
No wifi, wheelchair accessible (didn't check the wc).
