I hate this place! It makes me fat!  My work outs are twice as long and I'm going to the gym more often since I'm addicted to the chocolate ice cream on a waffle cone with caramel sauce! I love the strawberry blond too (yes the female version too) but I'm referring to the ice cream here.  I've checked into the rehab for ice cream addiction and they told me to stay 1 block away from this place in each direction.

When this chain arrived (USA based) it joined hands with Tim Hortons.  The only saving grace is I don't drink coffee otherwise I may as well just park my ass here all day.  The ice cream is (IMHO) better than Marble Slab which is very close to my home.  It's 5 stars but as mentioned by several other Yelper's, the layout is confusing and the service is inconsistent (some workers are clearly not familiar with the product) however, the one's that know are excellent.  Some feel it's expensive but really it's not since good gelato runs $5.  Beware... come after you've eaten to avoid buying a large size otherwise you'll end up in the same rehab as me.

It's not the same like in the US. I think the staff doesn't know excactly what they are doing.!?

But it's still better then a freeze pop from the corner store...

First-off, I always find it a little creepy when I check-in here and Marie's ice cream eating face pops up. Maybe I should upload a new picture next time.

This little scoop of heaven is partnered with a Tim Hortons so if you're into that whole hot and cold thing then this is the place for you.

I was a little disappointed at my last trip here. They were out of mint ice cream. Blasphemy I tell you!! Instead I went with the peanut butter cup perfection instead which was mostly tasty. It seems like they use a fake peanut butter in this combination. It really just tastes like an edible oil product. My guess is that they can't use regular PB as it would freeze when they mix it with the ice cream.

The other disappointing thing was the portion size. I think the girl that was serving me felt bad that I couldn't get what I wanted and loaded my cup. But the others that I was with had weren't so lucky. Please be consistent Cold Stone.

I first met Cold Stone when I was in a trip to Florida and since then my fondness for this place grew a lot. When I moved here to Toronto two months ago I didn't know that they were here (as far as I knew they were only in the US and Japan), so it was a nice surprise.

The fact that they are merged with Tim Hortons in one place is just a plus, for me. The thing is, and one of the reasons I'm not giving them five stars, is that the place is a little bit confusing. People don't know which line is for Cold Stone and which is for Tim Hortons, so it's common to see people getting upset because they were waiting in the wrong line. They could arrange things better, and it's a shame that they didn't still take a little bit of time to do that.

For us that already know how the system works, it's a great place. While the ice cream alone is not 5-star material, their signature combinations are not to miss. I'd recommend Germanchokkolatekake and Strawberry Blonde; my wife loves anything with Cake Batter Ice Cream, cheesecake or cookie dough. The fact that they mix everything in front of your eyes is a great idea.

I wish they would open a place that is just Cold Stone, though. I think the mood would be a little bit different, maybe more cozy and less "fast-food-y".

When Cold Stone first opened in the Time Hortons at Bay & Bloor, which is right across from my office, it was a very bad day for my health. Those first few weeks I was getting Cold Stone ice cream almost every other day. In the interest of not putting on 20lbs I've since cut back big time but I still love this place.

    Here's how it works:
    1. Pick from about a dozen different ice cream flavours. Choices include your basic chocolate and vanilla as well as more unique options like cake batter and cheesecake.
    2. Choose what toppings you want. Chocolate sauce, brownies, whole chocolate bars, gummy bears, nuts, you name it, they have it.
    3. They put your ice cream and toppings on a chilled granite slab and mix everything up using metal paddles and stick it in your choice of cup, cone, or waffle cone.

You can either choose your own ice cream and toppings or go with one of their predefined Signature Creations. I usually go for the latter and my favourite is Founder's Favourite: sweet cream ice cream, brownie, pecans, fudge sauce, and caramel. So amazing.

What really makes Cold Stone is the quality of their ingredients. The ice cream is surprisingly good for a chain, it's super rich and creamy. All the toppings are top quality as well and you always get tons of themr.

The whole hand mixing on a granite slab sounds gimmicky but I think it's actually key. I like that the hand mixing leaves lots of large chunks of toppings and that the toppings are unevenly distributed in size and location.

Be warned the ice cream is really rich and sweet. I usually can't handle anything more than the small.

I was in Tim Hortons at College and Spadina and my husband said he swore this was where Cold Stone Creamery was located. Up until that statement I had never heard of this place.

My husband then went off to say that this ice cream place had partnered or been bought by Timmies and they would "mix" your ice cream on a a super cold granite slab.

This sounded exciting and I was immediately in the mood for ice cream. We got on the streetcar and went to Bay and Bloor.

I got the Peanut Butter Cup Perfection: Chocolate Ice Cream, Peanut Butter, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and Fudge.

It was good but I felt like my experience was a bit cheated...
The granite block... "where the magic happens" is hidden behind the Timmies counter.

I can't wait t o try Cold Stone this summer at one of their stand alone location.

The ice cream is delicious and rich. The mix in's are really good and going here is definitely tasty experience.

However, it's so freakin expensive. Seriously. 6 bucks for a small ice cream. I don't get it.

Anyhow, this place is okay, but the prices are insane. It's definitely not a go to place when you are craving ice cream. I'd be a poor girl..very poor.

When I was little (eons ago), we called melted ice cream "ice cream soup." We'd stir the freshly scooped ice cream in our bowls over and over until the ice cream became super-soft and liquidy. Voila! Ice cream soup! That's what Cold Stone reminds me of: ice cream soup with mashed up stuff (cookies, candy bar pieces, nuts, dirty socks - whatever you want) in it. Now that I'm older, I don't find ice cream soup as appealing as I once did, and consequently, Cold Stone's concoctions usually aren't my thing.

However, they do carry other treats if you don't dig ice cream soup, either. I'm a fan of their milkshakes (though service can be hit or miss at this location; sometimes, the milkshake comes out overblended and watery) and a sure way to become my best friend is to come over with a six pack of Cold Stone ice cream cookie sandwiches.

The people who work here have always been very polite and speedy, regardless of whether you're on the Tim Horton's side or the Cold Stone side. Because of the two sides, it gets a little confusing and chaotic in there at times. It ain't the best of ice cream joints, but it's a good place to indulge your sweet tooth with a large quantity of ice creamy, sugary goodness.

Imagine an ice cream customized with toppings (not on top) but mixed into your favourite ice cream!!! It's not the most innovative thing, but no one else has thought about it!

It's quite yummy. You can choose from their pre-made receipes and combinations, or make your own. My only complaint is that it's WAY too much reading to figure out what I want. And there was no listing of the ingredients I can choose from, I had to ask them, and he gladly rattlled them off for me. Includes:
    - oreo cookie
    - chocolate chips
    - chocolate bars: mars, skor, reeses, kitkat, butter finger, m&ms
    - almonds
    - fruits: blueberry, strawberry...
there were tons more but I forgot!

For a medium size it's about $4.99 with 1 topping (0.75 cents for more). I got the chocolate with strawberry in it (that ice cream that almost has an extra topping in it!) and chocolate chip, almonds, and fudge. I liked like the crunchy in it. They take the ice cream, and the toppings and mix it in on a cold stone with metal spatulas.

    yummm

I would give Cold Stone more stars if it was just reviewing the ice cream, because I can't get enough cake batter ice cream with gummi bears.  The ice cream is so creamy, so smooth, so sweet!  Perfection!

However, I HATE that it's co-located with Tim Horton's.  The employees seem to know a lot more about Tim Horton's products than Cold Stone products.  They're very slow with the scooping and the mixing, and when I went there today, the woman helping me didn't even know you could order a to-go tub instead of those for-here sizes.  Trust me honey, this isn't my first time at Cold Stone!  I can't wait until they open a stand-alone location in Toronto!

So this is the place from the States that is "co-branding" with Tim Hortons in some parts of Toronto.  When I read about it I thought it was the most random thing to add an ice cram shop onto a Tim  Hortons, but once I tasted their "cake batter" ice cream I was in love!  The hardest part was choosing a flavour, and THEN you get to choose mix-ins which look like regular toppings (brownies, sprinkles, graham crackers, tiny marshmallows...) but way better because your server scoops the ice cream onto the frozen counter and kind of kneads everything together in front of you & then puts it into whatever kind of cone/cup you want.  I had to have the cake batter ice cream (which my friend found sickeningly sweet, but I felt like I was 5 again), and my server suggested I get the Birthday Cake Remix which was cake batter ice cream+fudge+sprinkles+brownie.  I loved the ice cream because it wasn't really hard, it was almost like actual cake batter or cookie dough.  If you don't have a serious sweet-tooth you might not like it, but I would recommend at least giving it a try (plus they let you sample the flavours).  The sizing was really cute too, the small was "Like It", then there was "Love It' and "Have to Have It" or something like that.   Pricier than regular icecream I guess (I think my "Love It" in a waffle cone was around $6)  but at the same time I liked it way better than regular ice cream. Since you can choose your own flavours & mix-ins the combinations are endless,  I can't wait to go back and try something else!
