Another quality stop on the wine tour was Colaneri.
This place gets full marks for scenery. The property looks like something straight out of a film featuring really fancy Italian villas or Roman architecture. Stunning*! As we approached the C-shaped property, some lovely Italian opera was playing on loudspeakers, and one of the family members who own and operate the winery came out to greet us, and take us up to the tasting room.
The tasting room, while spacious, had a real bare-bones feel to it, and I loved it for that. Very basic and to the point, with lovely stone walls, and some well placed windows overlooking the fields. The family were all extremely kind.
The wine also happened to be one of my favourites on the tour. We ended up walking out with 3 or 4 bottles.
*- One of my friends looked at the pics I took of the property, and remarked that it looked a lot like the creepy murderous property from the film "Hostel". While I can't speak to that, I can say that we lived to wine another day. -

We were abit early for our lunch reservation at Ravine, so, we decide to pop in to a neighboring winery for tasting. We notice the new constructed building... Figure we give the place a try. The place is still in construction....I can see the potential...abit of an Italian villa feel to it. We try the whites and ice wines...And I really like it. Will definitely go back and check out the place when construction is completed. I give it a 3 stars just because the place is incomplete but the wines are 4 stars.

We weren't sure if this winery was open when we drove by, but it said OPEN, so we cruised on in. So glad that we did! The facility is under construction but still open for business. The gentleman that served us the tasting was so kind and informative. Told great stories about the delicious wines with really unique labels. Looking forward to returning in a few years to see the completed building. Should be pretty cool! Don't miss Colaneri on your winery tour!
