There's nothing I like more than being able to support shops in my community, so when my bike tire went flat today and no amount of air would stay in the tire, I gave Cog's a ring. They said it sounded like the inner tube was shot, and to bring it in. For $10 and a 15 minute wait (spent browsing nearby Vietnamese grocery stores) they replaced it and now my bike rides better than it has all year.

Also, there is a free air pump located outside the shop! I wish Id known this a year ago. Amazing! Yaay free stuff =)

Definitely taking all my bike repairs to these guys.

Did you know they sell coffee? Because they do!

Yes, in the midst of walking home from east Gerrard I was looking for a washroom and spotted Cogs. I walked in, it was empty. Guilt immediately flooded over me that I wanted to use the facilities without buying something, anything. Is that... an coffee menu? Part bike shop part... Italian espresso bar?

Well, that's cheaper than buying a bike so I went with it and ordered up "whatever is closest to a normal coffee". Now I felt free to use the (staff) restroom while the shopkeeper/barista made my drink. The washroom looks like it was customized for a person my size, and being 5"1, that was kind of fun. However, you had to go down stairs and walk around the dingy basement/crawl space to get to it. No seating to enjoy the coffee but I was on my way anyways.

Sorry that this review has nothing to do with bicycles. But if their coffee is a reflection of their bikes, bike repairing and service then go, because that coffee was pretty good!

I purchased a custom build(vanilla frame). I wanted a good bike for around town and am very happy with what I got. Employees were helpful and answered my questions making recomendations and stopping me from wasting money. They mocked up the bike so I could see how it would look before buying.
The owner/mechanic was not very friendly but hey.......who cares....what you really want to care about is the purchase you have left with.
On a side note I took my new bike down to mountain co-op. I did not have a lock yet and got comments from 2 different employees that they liked my bike. Both employees were very surprised when I told them the price(better deal than Mnt coop)
Dont expect to walk out with a bike when you visit..it takes a  while to put them together...good things come with a wait.
Easy place to browse...everyone there seems pretty laid back..not a huge selection of bikes but I would recommend a visit as you may find a gem waiting.

chilling on the north side of gerrard street just west of logan is cogs cycle.  this ease with life exists both outside and inside the store.  the store itself is small leaving no other choice but to walk from front to back and back out again all the while experiencing all their merchandise within that 10 step trek up and down the runway.

they have used the space as fully as is possible with many bicycle wheel frames hanging from the ceiling like an oversized chandelier and and a gang of bikes standing guard on the south wall.

they have on the other walls and on and near the counter at the back several bike accessories and necessities like locks, bike lights, weather guards and so on.

its a small place and so it doesnt have the room or focus to feature bags, clothing, a wider variety of bikes and the like.  but what it lacks in inventory it makes up for in charm with a turntable at the back spinning out cool jazz tunes as you peruse the space.

this place is close by for me, the folks there seem nice enough, and so i would definitely consider bringing my bike here for a tuneup and a spruce up with supplies.

The staff are indeed rude here.  Extremely unhappy.  I went there to support a local, but the shop on Queen St. just West of Logan is my new destination.
