Due to the large "Ice Cream Bun" sign right outside the shop, I found it necessary to pop in here while I was waiting for the SeaBus.

The bun was warm and freshly made. It was nice and crunchy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. It was perfect with the cold slab of vanilla? ice cream between the bread. The buns are pretty pricey ($2-3), but they are definitely worth it.

Oh the tragedy...On my way home I decided to stop by Coffee Bun, and get whaaa? well, my favourite-coffee bun...but this time, it wasn't fresh out of the oven, just kinda lukewarm from the shelf...the coffee topping is not crispy, and they changed the chocolate filling...
    My little heart broke...
Unless you go back to your previous wizardry of coffee bun making, I will not come back...sorry

It's a bit unfair that if you set up shop beside a convenience store and other such shops just outside a transit centre, that your place might be dismissed as something generic or sub-par. That would be a shame, because you'd miss this great little gem: they sell coffee, obviously, but I came for the bun. Essentially, the "bun" is a a donut-like concoction, with a crusty top and crispy sides that may be bought as-is or with a variety of fillings ($2.55). I was torn between trying the cream cheese or custard version, but the decision was made for me since cream cheese was unavailable. Custard it is then!

It was a brief wait (maybe 5 minutes) before they came back out with my warm bun filled with custard. It was a rather large bun, and from the first bite, it was love.

So, next time you visit the North Shore and coming off the Sea Bus, try this little gem out before dismissing it as just another generic shop off a transit centre.

at first I really love this store especially the coffee bun. I was craving for it everyday..
but once I brought a friend of mine to the store on saturday at 11:30am, which was the time the store opened. So me and my friend just waited and waited...
after 15 mins we decided to call the store to see when they're going to open. They pick up, and im just actually outside. They said 1:00pm...................I was speechless. Actually while we were waiting, a lot of people came by and tried to open the door but it was locked. They lost a lot of customers...maybe they didnt notice it at all...They should've change their time chart on the store if they are not going to open or close on time. Later I found out that they do not open on time..I feel disappointed about their management. And also once on sunday, I knew they were going to close at 3pm but just want to make sure if they will really close at 3pm...so i called again, they never picked up.........

I am now really disappointed at the store....wont visit it again.

Upon exiting the Seabus which deposited us into North Vancouver, i was intrigued by the signage so I gravitated towards it passing the Starbucks next door.  Instinct told me this is an Asian bakery and I was right.
Yum! The buns are baked every 30 minutes and recommeneded to be eaten immediately.
I ordered the custard and shared it with my friends.  One of my friends got one herself too.
On a hot day, I'd order the shave ice dessert (potping) with red beans.  Love that stuff.
Anyway, if I had more time, I would have a cup of joe with my coffee bun and sat in their beautiful, cozy, warm with blond wood and light filled space.

Not only does this bakery make the seabus terminal smell delicious, it lives up to the expectation.

This is a cute little place that feels like a calm oasis in what can be a really hectic area. I've been a couple times and plan to go back more just to keep trying their different coffee buns. So far I've had the original and the cream cheese and both were delicious - warm and sweet and not too heavy. I assume this is what they're supposed to taste like, since I had no idea there was such a thing as a coffee bun until I walked into this place.

I also love that they offer milk tea, which I looooove, however it was REALLY sweet when I had one the other day. Like, too sweet. And the cup was so tiny! I ordered the combo (bun with coffee/tea) which comes with a small but I thought it would be a normal sized small, not a mini small.

Oh, and if you have a moment, fill out one of their "What do you feel like" comments cards. Cute!

It is a rather cosy coffee shop with a limited selection but a MUST TRY if you are passing buy Lonsdale Quay.

Their coffee buns absolutely delicious, unfortunately, the limited hours of operation (opens at noon) and the two times I had to wait for the next batch of buns cause they were sold out, forced me to go with 3 stars.

Do yourself a favor, skip the lines at Starbucks and treat yourself to a delicious coffee bun! :)

On my way to Lynn Canyon, fresh off the SeaBus, I noticed a cute little bakery from the corner of my eye. Coffee buns? Never heard of such a thing. Being a sucker for anything (and everything) baked, I just had to try one.

Walking in, I got a whiff of freshly baked buns. I ordered one original coffee bun and went on my way. Once outside, I took a bite and couldn't believe my taste buds. The bun was warm and soft with a crunchy savoury coffee topping and a buttery filling. My first thought after tasting this unique little bun of heaven was: Where have you been all my life?

After taking the bus to Lynn Canyon and before catching the SeaBus back to Vancouver, I stopped in for another Coffee Bun. How could I not? I knew it was the last time I'd have one of those little hot buns in my hands.

Coffee Buns originated in Korea and are popular in other Asian countries. I'm surprised this idea hasn't made it's way to the Bay Area. Maybe it has, and I just don't know. Maybe it's good that we don't have this in the Bay, otherwise I'd be ordering these by the dozen, hiding in a dark room and committing carbicide (aka death by carbs).

I go to Lonsdale Quay area at least once a month because I like taking the seabus (yes, I act like I'm still 5 years old). Haven't really noticed this place before until last weekend, when my friend went next door to buy a lottery ticket.

As soon as I walked in, BAM. The scent of the bakery, oh my god. It smelled so good. Anyways, let me tell you first, I am not a fan of Beard Papa's cream puffs. I don't know why, I just don't. But these coffee buns, I love. I only tried their custard one, which was freaking delicious. Sigh, if I didn't need to go somewhere else, I probably would have bought a dozen to share with other people.

The coffee buns have this crusty topping that has a coffee scent to it. They have several flavours to their buns, which are actually fillings: chocolate, custard, red bean, and cream cheese. They have two other ones that are just toppings, garlic and cinnamon. They don't cheap out and fill only a little, so if you're scared of messy foods.. this might not be for you.

The shop is small, cute, clean, and as mentioned before, smells super yummy. The teas that they show are things you could buy at any grocery market (thought they would have specialty loose leaf teas) with brands such as Stash and Twining.

I WILL BE BACK! Sadly, they were out of the cream cheese ones, I couldn't decide between custard and cream cheese. This shop is another reason for me to take the seabus to Lonsdale Quay.

"Your cream puff fell into my pineapple bun!" Hence I now have The Coffee Bun custard choux. I've passed this bakery café at Lonsdale Quay a number of times, each time a test of willpower. I could only press my nose up against the window so many times before a merchant calls the police, so with justification I walked in and bought the custard choux. It is a fresh and warm custard-filled chinese pineapple bun. I eat it with as much finesse as I can as to keep the crumble topping from falling. It is so delicious that I'm at a loss for more detail.

If you've been pressing your nose up against the glass, next time bring $2.55 + tax with you and just give it a try.

I work steps away from coffee bun which has resulted in a lighter wallet. First of all, i've tried all the buns and i must say they are all delicious. I'll list out my personal favs starting with the best. 1. Custard 2. Chocolate 3. Cinnamon (when available) 4. Original 5. Cream Cheese. My only gripe about coffee bun is the price. Since hst, they've raised their prices a bit understandably, but at their price point i believe they will push away some customers. Being a regular, a have forced myself to visit less and have resorted to other options. If you're in the area, definitely give it a try, it's pretty amazing.
