Review from Nikolai P.
There are not many AYCE Fish and Chip joints in Burnaby or Vancouver but out of all of them I have come across this one is one of the best! Their AYCE Cod Fish and Chips is only available Mon, Tues, and Wed but for $9.50 this is a killer deal!
Their Cod is Flaky, Moist and light.
Their Breading for the Cod is Crisp, Light and not too greasy
This location gets busy for the AYCE between 1215 and 1330 due to the kids from the school(s) coming in for lunch and to-go.
They are extremely fast delivering the food even with a full restaurant and the to-go orders.
I recommend getting add'l fish but not add'l fries! Tartar sauce does come with the AYCE in a bottle so no having to ask for add'l or extra tartar sauce! -

I paid about 12 bucks (incl. tax & tips) to get their all-you-can-eat(fish n chips)/drink(pop) deal for $9.50, but was NOT exactly excited when they brought it. I mean, it's edible, but so greasy that eating there twice a week, you'd soon develop some sort of a disease. I'm not sure what else they got on the menu. Perhaps things from the actual menu are not so much dipped in oil, but what I had I must say was fairly disgusting.

My first instinct was to have the halibut & chips, but because I saw the ALL YOU CAN EAT SIGN, I decided on that. Big mistake. Me no like greasy cod. I didn't 'all you can eat' because I ate one piece. So I should have went for the halibut. Anyhow, not impressed with the fish I did have. BOO.

Friendly, welcoming place with great, not too oily fish & chips and excellent tartar sauce. My go to hangover food when I attended SFU (university) and now, 15 years later, where I take my 3 year old son as a treat.

tried the AYCE finally on a monday.. it was just OK but a great deal nonetheless. very greasy but prepared well. i think they said it was pollock as the AYCE special which didn't taste the greatest. will have to try the halibut though one day. the chips were good though! also had a small order of coleslaw which was deelish as well. great value since it also includes a pop for just under $10.

They come 'ere for the 'alibut.
You'll be greeted by the guys frying as soon as you walk in. Everyone is friendly.
The Fish N Chips are very tasty.
AYCE Cod Fish and Chips on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays until 8p. Includes pop for $9.50.
High chairs, yes. The wooden kind.
I wouldn't recommend bringing in your stroller. Space is tight. -

I'm allergic to fish, yet I really like this place! Perhaps not the best life choice, but the poutine is pretty good for west coast, and the louisiana shrimp & chicken strips are excellent:)
Friends who claim to know fish&chips say it's comparable to places in UK. For the volume of food one receives, the prices are quite agreeable. -

Best fish & chips in the city, bar none.
Batter is tasty and crisp, and under that the fish is always substantial and quality. Also, the Louisiana shrimp are pretty tasty, but be warned the portion is HUGE. -

So deadly, yet so awesome.
The fish and chips here are great. The fish is a little heavy on the batter, but the pieces (fiillets) are large and solid. The fries are crispy on the outside but moist on the inside. Goes great with vinegar.
I've had both the cod and halibut. No complaints at all.
So, why do I give this place 4 stars? Allyoucaneat fish & chips on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Oh baby. For $8 (less than the price of a 2-piece meal on other days), before 8pm, you can stuff your face and get just a bit closer to your next heart attack. You do have to rush here after work as a lineup predictably forms on these days. You'll get your fix on and more.
An additional quirk is the placemats, which teach you random bits of Cockney slang.
The only downside is that it's wayyyy out in the middle of nowhere (to me at least). Oh, and the place closes rather early. But every once in a while, believe me, it's worth the drive. Just be sure to carpool.Listed in: 2011 Cheap & Tasty

Find me here on Monday for Endless Plates of Fish and Chips! ALL the fat is going to my butt.
I love here the most as their fishes are made perfectly. I live around the corner so me and my friends walk here for beer and food. Love this establishment a lot. It is a small nice community restaurant, and I love the decor of the restaurant because it reminds me of my Grandmothers place. Quaint, nostalgic and traditional. I enjoy how they wrap the food as well in the Vancouver Sun Newspaper and that they sometimes ask for donations of Vancouver Suns. So drop your old Vancouver Sun Newspaper here, they always need them.
I do realize it is "fast food" food, but I come here because it is cheap. It saves me so much money every time I come here. Come here early as at night it gets packed very fast.
The whole community of Burnaby North seems to adore this resturant as the people always love to order take out here. The students from the area come here to eat AYCE on the weekdays. I recommend this place a lot to all my friends. Come here for a nice time with friends and family too! -

You have the option to Poutine your fish and chips...this place is all good just because of that. The service is great and the halibut tastes really good. It's not overly battered so you can taste the fish. Also they give bottomless soda's, how great is that and your own squeeze bottle of tarter sauce, not like other places where they give you a small cup or slab a puddle on your plate. This is probably the better, clean sit down fish and chips place around, just too bad it's a bit away from downtown Vancouver. I'm a definitely try the other things on the menu next time

I haven't been blown away by a place in a long time, and MANNN!!! My bf and I were looking for a highly rated place for lunch near our hotel and this was it.
The Hats Off parade was going on so when we went around 11:30am on a saturday there was only one patron. Our server was great, he was attentive, friendly and thoughtful. I liked the decor, it wasn't fancy or anything but seemed very "Brit" to me.
Seated immediately, my bf and I ordered two piece cod plate to share with the chips upgraded to poutine and a half order of onion rings. The fat kid in me wasn't sure if it was going to be enough food but I was so wrong. The portions are HUGE. and our server very thoughtfully already divided up everything and brought it out. One plate of fish and chips easily feeds two.
The fish was amazing, piping hot and crispy, perfectly battered. Their tartar sauce was the best I've ever had too. The poutine was okay, I can never eat too much of it I get sick of it too quickly. The onion rings were the best I've ever had, they've definitely got the frying down to an art. We also had the Okanagan lager and it was really great with the fish.
I don't know if I can do an AYCE fish and chips deal but this place was amazing, whenever I want fish and chips or onion rings I'm sure to dream and drool over this place from now on. -

This review was not for the AYCA. I definitely see the appeal, $10 to quench your fish-and-chips thirst.
However, for my take-out experience (I live 5 mins away) I definitely was not blown away here. Perhaps mine was biased because I just came back from London and tried a version that I prefer (Golden Hind, go check it out if you are there).
I tried their Halibut and fries. I gave them points that the fried fish is not greasy, and the chips were abundant. But I found the fish lacked any flavour (been frozen for a long long time), and the batter was too thick.
Considering the lack of this type of restaurant, I would still go back if I have a craving for F&C, but it probably won't appear as often as I expect.
On a side note, I am surprised to see this shop is run by very young guys and gals, considering the old-fashion setting and decor. Nothing against that, they seemed friendly and efficient. -

I've only been here once, but it was with the highest recommendations from several different people.
I'm not generally a fish and chips person, but I do know quality when I taste it. The one piece halibut meal is a perfect size - 2 pieces and I would have been rolling around on the floor afterwards. The fish was light and non-greasy (same with the fries). The tartar sauce (homemade?) is delicious as is the gravy (I love me some good gravy!).
The service is friendly and quick (though not sure what it's like during peak hours) and I really enjoy how open and simple the seating area is.
They have a booming takeout counter which we'll definitely need to give a go (if only because it seemed like everyone working it seemed like they were having a great time). Thumbs up for Cockney Kings! -
Review from Louise G.
One of the great things about Cockney Kings is their fun placemats. Yes I know it's just a cheaply printed, thin piece of paper with Cockney Slang on it that is just as readily available on the internets!!! But it's fun and it makes waiting for your food just a little bit more enjoyable.
I will demonstrate with an example from yesterday's meal with Favourite Daughter:
ME: Hey look! According to this I am having Fish & Chips with my 'Sauce Pan Lid" (Kid)
DAUGHTER: OH! Don't you start!!
ME: Hey young lady, mind your "North & South" (Mouth)
DAUGHTER: *scowls*
ME: Do you "Forgive yer Mudder?" (Want some butter?)
DAUGHTER: Ok, that one isn't even on here!!!
We visited here on our mad quest to discover the best fish and chips. Simply being from Newfoundland doesn't make us the authority on fish & chips. We also consider ourselves great authority on a number of other things, but for now we're focusing on this.
Both daughter & I had the halibut. She had poutine with hers and I couldn't resist onion rings. So technically, neither of us had fish & chips. Sorry.
That piece of fish was fit for Jehovah!!!! Was quick, hot, fresh, yummy, perfectly seasoned. The onion rings were just the way I like them. Nice thick slices of onion with a lovely golden batter on them. I like my batter to have a life of its own, not simply coat the onion. I was completely full half way thru my meal . That's another one of the amazing parts of the Cockney Kings experience; they wrap their takeaway in newspaper!!! I was probably full from the roll they brought before the meal. I am always suspicious of places that give free food before the real food arrives. I understand the concept but it always bothers me that I get halfway through eating it and wonder "Why am I eating this?"
Anyway, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will consider rating this higher if return visits are as favorable. This might be a contender for THE BEST FISH&CHIPS... stay tuned!!!Listed in: Poutine List, Fish&Chips List

Good portions. The actually have all you can eat fish and chips. Which is good I guess. Here's a pro tip. They're take out portions are even bigger than advertised. Sadly the 20 minutes it take for me to get them back to my house gets em soggy :( Get in!

They say: Bottomless pop and fish and chips.
I say: Oldschool grease but I still crave their fish and chips.
Atmosphere: Typical grease joint but it's got the homeliness part down *thumbs up*.
Food: Deep and fried night in. I always get take out cod and chips with lots of packaged tar tar sauce (the homemade one just doesn't have the zing). -

Delicious and non-greasy! I love the halibut - my favourite!
I like going at odd hours to avoid the crowds; I find it open, airy and quiet inside. I've yet to try the take out - Cockney Kings isn't close to me, and we go out of our way to indulge in deliciousness - but I've heard good things. It's comfort food at it's best! -

All You Can Eat Fish & Chips with a bottom-less pop included for under $10... How can you go wrong!? They have this special on every Mon, Tues, Wed and it is well worth it!
It's obviously gonna take up your grease quota for the week - but having said that, it's not dripping in as much grease as you might expect.
The fish is quite light and so is the batter. The fries are the fat and wide type of chips. And they put a big squeeze-bottle of tartar sauce on your table too.
Very casual atmosphere. Usually have to wait a few minutes for a table but it's never been more than about 10 minutes.
Note that they tend to close by 9pm or so, in other words, last call for fish and chips order goes out by about 830pm so don't expect to stay too late. -

There are a few good fish n' chips places in the GVRD, but in my opinion this one is the best. I've always had amazing service here, and the food has yet to disappoint.
The fish batter is light and crispy, and the overall meal is definitely less greasy than at some other places - including the fries. I always get the halibut and the meat is dense and tender, with the fillets being a decent size. If you enjoy vinegar, prepare to make a huge mess as the bottles tend to leak like crazy if you're being liberal with its application.
I tend to come here mid-afternoon on the weekends, and the place is dead. It does get pretty hectic as you approach dinnertime, so you might be standing around waiting for a table to open up. It's a bit out of the way, so eating in is preferable to me so the fish doesn't get soggy on the trip home.
I highly recommend Cockney Kings if you're visiting the Vancouver area, or live here and have never tried it. -

I am a fan of this place. It's not fussy and non fancy and that is the way I like it. My favorite: The Salmon and Chips Platter. Service is friendly and Cockney Kings never fails to surprise and delight anyone I go there with. Oooooh....try the deep fried oysters too!
