Cities need places like Cobo Joe's. The place has character, and bartender's that blow fire!
Fire, heh heh. -

Burger was good along with service but $4.50 for a Miller Lite in a dive bar. Unacceptable! Will not be back.

I'm tempted to give this place five stars, because the night I went, the beer was free! I stopped in after work to have a drink with some coworkers, and stumbled into a free promo being offered because of an IT conference going on at Cobo.
Free beer aside, the bar is a typical hole-in-the-wall when there's no Wings game, but I understand it's the place to be before the Wings play. It's near where I work, so I have a feeling I'll be here again before long. -

Cobo Joe's is one of my favorite places to go before a Red Wings game. It's got an all Wings atmosphere, but isn't necessarily the only you'd reason go there... hey, it's Hockeytown... you're going to get some Wings garb a lot of places you go in Detroit.
An old school Italian pizza joint is the theme with red and white checkered table cloths, so you might as well follow suit and try the pizzas. The pizzas are thin, the crust is crunchy and the cheese is runny. To top it off, they have good ranch at Cobo's... anyone worth a damn knows that ranch is key to good pizza!
Park in one of the lots just north of Cobo Joe's for $10 or so, and you can climb the steps of Cobo Arena and walk all the way through to see the Red Wings.
Or just stop in for a good dinner or lunch. -

Went to Cobo Joes to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday before heading to Wings game. The management and waitresses were exceptional!- so welcoming, accommodating and quick. They served our large group with ease. Food was great and drinks were reasonably priced- can't ask for more in my opinion. Really fun atmosphere for drinks and dinner before or after a game. We'll definitely be back!

Cobo Joe's survives because it's near JLA and Cobo. The food there is marginally acceptable. If you're going to drink you go next door to the Post. I'd eat here again, but only if someone were paying.
It's typical bar food, although surprisingly, they had a good selection of salads. -

We ordered a BLT - great fries, nice waitress. Good service. After we ordered we heard from locals that they have the best pizza in Detroit - next time! Note: added bonus, free wi-fi

Living on and off my entire life here in the D, I did not know this place existed until a few months ago. I normally go directly to the Wings game from the west side, but met up here with some friends downtown before the CCHA championship game. I was surprised to see the size of the place and the crowd within. It's a good sports bar. Plenty of TVs to watch games, menu of bar food including decent burgers and fries. Parking next door in one of a couple of garages. Short walk to the Joe or the air conditioned COBO arena.

I'm not really a sports person, in fact, I've never even been to a Red Wings game. My friend got tickets for the game and suggested that we meet here. Maybe it was the fact that I got lost twice trying to find the place that the beer tasted so good. I was just glad to sit down to a cold brewski instead of being stuck and lost in traffic.
The Supreme pizza was pretty tasty, and complimented the beer quite well. This little joint isn't too bad for a brew or two and some bar food before catching a game at the Joe.Listed in: R.O.T.D.'s so far...

Right next to Cobo Hall and the Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Joe's is a bar, and burger joint. Don't expect anything special w/ the decor...it's plain, a little dirty and cramped. Burgers were just ok, w/ stale buns, but you definitely have to get the fried Mac n Cheese App.... I never knew mac n cheese could be so d*&m good!
