Is it a tourist destination, you bet.
Can the lines be long, sure.
Is it worth it, heck yeah.

Glass Elevators whisk you to the main observation deck in less than a minute. When you get off you are treated to a view of Toronto from 1100+ft above ground, amazing sight for sure. For the more adventurous take a stroll across the glass floor. Always funny to see kids just hop on out where the adults are kind of cautious.

I have been a number of times with friends when we visit the City, it's kind of one of the things you have to do. Like the Hancock or Sears Tower in Chicago it offers a unique perspective of the city you are visiting.

While on business in Toronto, I made it a point to get to the top of the CN Tower. Yes, it is touristy, but hey, I was one so I felt ok about it...

Luckily, I went during the work week and it wasn't busy at all. I barely waited in any line and  before I knew it I was atop the tower. Like many tall buildings in big cities, the views were cool.

The hilight for me was stepping onto the plexiglas floor and looking straight down. I will say the Sears Tower in Chicago has it beat though. There, you step into a plexiglas box that actually hangs off the building. Now, that was truly amazing.

All in all, I certainly enjoyed myself.

I normally view tourist traps as things to avoid like herpes, but I couldn't pass this one up, as I am a sucker for modern architecture and killer views.

The tower is fairly simple as far as what it offers: a view, and a restaurant. I was able to experience the view at day time, watch the sunset, and get night views. It was worth it.

I ate a meal right by the window and got incredible views. The view was 5 stars all the way, but the food was average to boot. I had a steak with grilled vegetables. It was okay, nothing special. For the price I could have had a better meal elsewhere.

The red and purple lighting on the observation deck made for some cool ambiance. I wish the Edge Walk was a bit more "thrilling", but was just okay.

At the end of the day, it was worth visiting.

Waste of money, eh? The line just to buy tickets is like a Disney line, without the real payoff.  Then there is the second line to actually go up the tower.  You can go high, really high, or super high.  The difference between the three levels is....not impressive.  I enjoyed the opportunity to take some truly unique photos, however, after about 10 minutes, I wished I had my $60 back.

Toronto's most famous landmark and a must on any tourist's list of places to visit while in town, the CN Tower is the tallest freestanding tower in North America. Formerly the tallest in the world before 2009, the site attracts hordes of tourists every day, but mainly on weekends. Security is tight as tourists have to go through individual checks via air pressure machines due to the threat of terrorism, but otherwise the view from the top is amazing.  There is a restaurant (360) and a cafe as well as several food stands upstairs, and the new SkyWalk attraction is must for anyone looking for the thrill of walking on top of the tower while wearing a harness for protection.

Visitors can avoid going on line by purchasing their tickets online at http://www.ticket-ops.com/ or at the CN Tower's official website.

With my eyes clothes, I can show you the CN Tower. This is a default "tourist" destination to do touristy thing... and with family and friends visiting from around the world... I always have accompany tourists.

My review is bias because I live in Toronto and seeing Toronto from up above is sort of... touristy. As it should be, this is a good tourist place. You will see downtown Toronto and the Lake. But while you're up there, visit 360 restaurant, it really is worth it. Forget the food but the view is spectacular.

Tip? Go during lunch time - better view and relatively cheaper.

There's cheap underground parking after 6 pm or flat rate paring ranging from $ 5 - $ 20 depending on which day you're going and if there are events that day.

Would I recommend this place? Oh definitely if you're a tourist.

This review is for the CN Tower Edge Walk:

Let me start with a disclaimer, I'm an adrenaline junky. I get a BIG kick out of jumping out of airplanes or really anything that gets my heart racing. With that in mind, the CN Tower Edge Walk was cool, but tame.

We went with a group from work as a team building event (yes, you can say it, I work for the greatest company ever). Between the group of us we had a big range: those terrified of heights, and those of us that are looking for new ways to live while throwing ourselves off of buildings, cliffs or planes.

The experience was pretty cool. After being put into a red jump suit, secured into a harness and quadruple checked for safety (and bombs, weapons and intoxication) they let you walk onto the metal grate that surrounds the CN tower in groups of 6 or so with a guide.

You're attached to the tower with a pretty short tether from the front and back of your harness.

When you first walk out it's a bit of a rush. I mean really, it's just you 360 meter in the air with the city of Toronto at your feet and nothing but a harness holding you in place. Okay, so it's not just a harness, this thing could support a bus (15,500lbs!!) Finding that out made me feel a little bit less concerned about the big breakfast I had eaten that day.

The walk around starts with the guide getting you to one by one stick your toes over the edge. You walk a bit, then you lean backwards over the city, a bit more walking then you lean forwards. There is also some walking on the edge, backwards, etc. It's all very regulated by your guide. You get some facts about what you're seeing (kind of like a sight seeing tour) and after about 20 minutes you've done the circumference and you are ushered back inside.

The neat thing about it is you get acclimatized to the height and even the most terrified in our group were able to lean over the edge and let go of their harness after not being up there for too long.

It's definitely a cool thing to try, especially if you're afraid of heights but don't expect anything close to the same kind of rush you'd get jumping out of a plane or bungee jumping.

A tourist spot! I've been here about three times. I appreciate it more and more every time I visit. I guess I'm getting old, when I was a kid I didn't care about it so much. The best part to me is the glass floor. About 140 stories up, you can sit, sleep, jump and run on the glass. Just don't look down, some people get freaked out about it. Pretty cool and the best part is the walk to it because you can checkout some of the great street food downtown toronto has to offer!

I wanted to write a good review to explain to fellow thrill seekers what the Edge Walk was like, but I cannot possibly explain it better than Madelaine D. You go girl!

The checking process is extremely annoying. I wasn't allowed to have bobby pins in my hair. Lame.

When you do buy your tickets, you get a free pass to the glass floor AND a movie. If you aren't able to use it that day, go to the front and they will allow you to come back and use it within a week. Also, because of the security perimeters they don't let you bring your camera. The guide has one and takes every ones pictures. FYI, this got to be a bit annoying because the guide seriously sucked at taking pictures.

When you walk out, make sure to point out which picture you want. You are only allowed 2 (max) without pay.

Fun fact:  this makes for a cool birthday present. Just saying.

While, I do agree it's a nice rush , I felt It was a bit like somebody giving you a magic carpet and then pulling it from under you. The restrictions/ guide control dulled the experience.
imma stick to cliff diving instead.

THE CN TOWER WAS A BIG WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!!

First, the tower has multiple tiers of viewing so its not just one cost for the entire trip. This made buying for the trip confusing.

In addition, there was a line for everything. There was  A LINE to buy the tickets, A LINE to get through security so they can blow air at you, A LINE to get to the elevators to go up, A LINE to go to the restroom, and A LINE to the elevators to go down!!!!!!!!

I constantly felt like a cow being lead to slaughter while I waited in line The entire trip took about three hours with 2 hours and 45 minutes spent standing in lines!!!!

All this would be worth it if I could get a quality picture. Yet, there were none to be found. On the first tier of the tower, one is surround by an ugly, brown, glossy, glass that makes taking pictures without seeing ones reflection impossible. The second tier has this metal netting that cut ups the picture like prison bars.

Out of all the places I visited in my one week in Toronto the CN Tower was by far the worst experience. My trip to Tim Horton's was even better. Don't visit this place.

CN Tower was great! I must admit that looking down the glass floor is a bit intimidating! I couldn't get myself to even walk on it, but around it!

I never made it to the 360 restaurant as it requires RESERVATIONS. I was told, however, that if you do go to the 360 restaurant, along with your meal, access to the tower and glass floor is free. So, if you want a meal and a free ride up, this is something to consider. I would check out other reviews to determine if the food is good prior to going...that is if you care.

Also, I noticed that a new attraction for this year is the Edge Walk. If you're into thrills, it may be an option for you.

The CN tower was everything I thought it would be and more.  My only tiny complaint was the wait time getting up.  It took almost 45 min to get up to the second portion, another 45 to get to the top and 45 each time to get down- and we were on a speed pass system.

I took some incredible photos which I posted.  I loved the views-they were beautiful and memorable.  So glad we went.

If you are a tourist or the first timer to Toronto, this should be in your must-do list.   It was not that exciting for me despite going up to the
    "bubble"

The admission is pretty steep.  There was some kind of pass that you can buy for 5 top attractions in Toronto at around $58 Canadian per person - which included the admission to the CN Tower - too late for me.

Kinda fun experience but do it only one time....   I will question your sanity if you are a repeated customer to CN Tower.

If you've been up one tall structure to see a city, then you've basically been up them all. Still, I love the birds-eye view of Toronto and you won't see more of this crazy-green city anywhere else!

Seriously, you don't realize how many trees and parks are in Toronto until you look down from a million stories up. Some city blocks practically looked like bunches of broccoli they were so packed!

The CN Tower is expensive, is guaranteed to be touristy and crowded, and will take less time than it should to see it all.

But you should still go there. It's tall and fun. Besides, the glass walk is a great way to mess with friends who are afraid of heights.

The lines here are insane, so make sure you allow plenty of time for that (going up and down). Prior to heading up the Tower, you're required to walk through an ion-blasting body detection machine. It was definitely a first for me. It wasn't invasive at all. Felt like you're having a gust of wind blown in your face/on your body.

Once passed the security, ride the elevator up to the observation deck in under a minute. While in the elevator, you're allowed a small glass window on the floor to look through while being zipped upwards. Also, you can enjoy the views of Ontario through the elevator glass doors. Upon arrival on the Observation Deck, you're giving a 360 view of Toronto.

Before leaving, be sure to check out the awesome Glass Floor! A section of the floor is made up of sheets of glass. If you dare, which I did ;) , give a good jump on it! In fact, lay down and get your picture taken. The effects are pretty cool. That is, IF YOU DARE :P

Is this a must see tourist landmark? Yes! And if you're brave enough, try the Edge Walk! That's what I have planned for the next time I'm back in Toronto =)

A tourist must! The5th tallest freestanding building in the world! Offers great views of Toronto and the Ontario Lake.

At 1,815 ft. tall, the CN Tower is Canada's National Tower, and the 5th tallest freestanding building in the world.

After you purchase your tickets, you are led to an elevator travelling 15 mph, which takes you to the top of the tower in just 58 seconds. The elevator has glass doors, so on your way up, you get breath taking views of Toronto.

Up on the tower, their are indoor and outdoor observation decks that offers amazing views up to 1,136 ft into Toronto.

Their is also a unique Glass Floor, which is a floor made of glass, that lets you look down into the city 1,815 ft below you. Not recommended for people who are afraid of heights. You could even get your photo taken there.

Overall, the CN Tower is a great tourist attraction, and is a must-see for any tourist.

Absolute must-see for any Toronto tourist.  Spectacular views of Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto.

Begin your Toronto sight-seeing early here as lines deepen throughout the day.  The view ain't cheap.  Tiered pricing with the full package (CAD 28.00)giving you access to the skypod, lookout, glass floor, HD movie, and a virtual motion theater ride through the Amazon rain forest.  I wasn't impressed with the movies but the glass floor and skypod were quite gnarly.

Looking down through the glass floor is only topped by their latest attraction - Edgewalk.  After paying around 150 CAD and signing a bunch of release forms(too many lawyers!), you can walk along the edge of the main tower's rim.  You are strapped into a harness as you walk/tremble along the edge.  This is the only piece of material separating you from becoming a pancake on the hard concrete streets 356 metres below.  You can even "let go" and extend the length of your harness straps over downtown.   This attraction obviously will only be open weather permitting.

The coolest part of the CN Tower is the glass floor in which many people, including my mom would not dare to walk on. They say its 6x stronger than a conventional floor and it does feel freaky to walk over it while looking down. If you have oodles of cash, you can try the skywalk where you actually go outside and walk around the tower in a harness.

I purchased the look out and observation deck ticket on a Monday night. It was around July after the holidays and I recommend avoiding going here during the holiday season as you will pay for an experience where the wait is longer than the actual experience. My friends waited 2 hours in line for a 10-20 mins experience.  Basically, go when the wait is shorter.

I would say that the glass floor experience is the most worth it. I think I spent about 10-15 mins just walking, playing, taking pictures, whatever.  It was a great feeling and definitely worth the money. As for the observation deck. I think it wasn't as great since you just look out. I recommend that they post little tid bits, maps, etc talking about the buildings, the lake, the districts, etc. I think I enjoyed the Vancouver lookout a lot because of that.

I don't think the sky pod is worth it either. Don't even bother.

Plenty has been said about the CN Tower and its magnificent height, it is truly a must see in Toronto.  Whenever I bring new visitors to the city, CN tower is on the short list.

OK, business traveler tip of the day... DON'T BUY THE ENTRANCE TICKET TO THE OBSERVATION DECK....

Make a reservation at the 360 Restaurant that sits near the top of the CN Tower and get into the observation deck for FREE! Each diner must purchase an entree but the entrance fee and the cheapest entree cost about the same...  My business traveler brethren will understand this point immediately, you can expense dinner!  It's a $0 personal expense to see a great attraction in a great setting...

The food is decent, I always get a steak of some sort and I am always satisfied.  The real attraction here is that the dining room rotates so you can take in spectacular views of the city while you are dining!  It takes about an hour for the entire rotation so have a leisurely lunch or dinner and take in all the sights.  When you have completed your meal, the entrance to the main observation deck is complimentary...

    Make reservations here:

(For me) there is not much to say about this tourist attraction, other than it is quite amazing to go up to the sky pod to see the surrounding city. The view is breathtaking and a little bit nerve racking if you don't like heights (especially if you go walk on the glass floor).

After living in Seattle from 2007 thru 2009, I got used to taking my out of town friends to the Space Needle on a regular basis.  I never grew tired of it, however, as I enjoyed that particular tourist trap despite the outrageous price.

The CN Tower is similar (touristy) but it's much better than the Space Needle.  It's worth the visit.

They have different pricing structures depending upon what you want to do.  My friend and I decided that we would go to the main Observation Deck and also opted for the Sky Pod (which is the VERY top observation deck).  These two things together priced at $28+ tax.

The elevator ride up is awesome!  There are glass floors that you can stand on.  It's way cool.

The main Observation Deck also provides a great vista as well as a much larger glass floor where you can stand and take photos.  It's so frickin' scary.  We had to walk around a bit and get our bearings while we worked up the courage to stand on the glass floor.

The Sky Pod was OK, but not really necessary.  I recommend buying just a trip to the Observation Deck off the a la carte pricing menu instead.

As a long term resident of the city, the CN Tower isn't really something I would normally do (the first time I went up was after 6 years in the city) However, when I'm entertaining guests from out of town, everyone always wants to go here.

In peak season you can expect looooong waits to get up the tower and once you're up there, the place is crowded; so getting a goo view or decent pictures without random heads in your shot is quite tricky.

But if you come out of season, say the last week in March, there is hardly anyone around. We bought our tickets, walked up to the elevator and went right up.

There are a few main attractions but the best deal is the Observation + Skypod experience. This package gives you access to the look out on the main level, the glass floor (one level down) as well as the skypod (a little observation pod some 15 storeys higher).

Be warned though, being the premier tourist trap in the city, it's very expensive. The Observation + Skypod experience will set you back $28.99 + HST per person (not counting the souvenir photos, which you are not obligated to buy).

But the tower does offer the best views in the city. You can easily spend an hour or more gazing at the entire panorama of Toronto and beyond (on a clear day you can see the tower and the building at Niagara Falls across the lake).

My Tourist Friend in town, I decided that CN Tower was one of our destination as would anyone of you local to Toronto.  Paid, Photo'd, Scanned, then arrive to the Elevators.  There was North or East Elevators this time around which shows of the City view itself rather than the Lake view.

Once at the Look Out + Glass Floor(Observation Experience $22.99) we went around to see the view which is something you don't see everyday, not even if you work at one of the tallest buildings in the Financial District.  There weren't any explanations as to which direction and which attractions people were looking at which means some guest can be kept clueless and curious.

The Glass Floor is neat and still keeps people afraid of heights at bay.  My Friend just started jumping on it as usual so others just jumped backwards to what they thought was a safe distance from the Glass Floor overlooking the bottom of the Tower.

I told my Friend I would help take a photo with them and the World's Highest Mailbox.  I also took a photo of what we assumed was the Door of the World's Highest Washroom.   :P

I'm scared of heights. I get antsy and sweaty just thinking about going up somewhere high. The glass floor at the CN tower really got me freaked out. However, it was definitely worth the experience. People were jumping, lying down, posing at the glass floor. It is extremely stable and can definitely hold its weight. There will definitely be a lot of tourists at this location so expect long lines. If there is a Blue Jays game going on you can see it from the top. Pretty cool experience in my opinion and definitely worth it if you are in Toronto. I didn't get over my fear of heights after this but it's definitely an interesting experience.

I had some time to wander around the city on a recent trip and found myself here-- most of the other attractions I was interested in seeing had closed for the evening, but the tower was open until 10 (if I remember correctly).

There were several packages available. The most simple being access to two levels-- one with windows and window seats looking straight out, the other being a lower level with an outdoor observation deck and a glass floor. Another option allows you to add on the sky pod. It's not clearly stated anywhere-- the sky pod is a smaller observation area higher up. I thought the view from up there was well worth the extra cost (despite the small crowd of couples making out that had accumulated up there). The final add on was some sort of 3-D surfing "ride" (which I found extremely hilarious since it's FEBRUARY in TORONTO).

I enjoyed this attraction MUCH more than I thought I would. I actually spent quite a few hours wandering around, soaking in the sights and taking pictures. The view was absolutely breathtaking and this impulse trip is one I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Me: 24 mins 37 seconds. The average person: 30 minutes.

OMG! Are my lungs actually bleeding?!!?!?!

Today I did the Enbridge United Way CN Tower Climb -Corporate Climb, to benefit the city and those less fortunate. This is my first time climbing the CN Tower for United Way and all I was expecting was to be completely sore after and a massive line-up prior to the commencement of the event. Both of my expectations became a reality, and there were some 'surprises'....

    1. The CN Tower was probably the safest place anyone could be today. For the run, they had a "hands-free" policy, meaning you practically can't carry anything into the tower: no cellphones, mp3s, water, etc.  Participants were allowed fanny packs, but they were inspected. En route into the Tower's stairwell, we passed through numerous security check points, I was scanned by a manual metal detector about 3 times at 3 different check points. I also had to go through the hands free security system that frisks you with air. (It's supposed to be non-intrusive).

    2. It wasn't so crowded in the stairwell. I thought there would be a huge rush to get to the top of the stairs, like a stampede, but no, there were actually enough room for everyone to go at their own pace.

    3. The stairwell was cold! Which made climbing the tower more comfortable. I would have died if it was hot and stuffy.

    4. There were EMS personnel at different points in the stairwell, just in case some people don't make it or pass out along the way.

    5. My lungs were killing me after reaching the top. (I kept looking at the EMS personnel at the top and wanting to go see him about the pain.)  It was painful to drink, painful to breathe, painful to cough and I felt blood at the back of my throat. When I asked people who had done it last year about their experiences, NO ONE told me about the bleeding lungs. When I told my co-worker my lungs hurt, she said "oh that's normal, you're supposed to feel like you have bronchitis." Wow... I wished I had known earlier. Oh well, at least I know now how bronchitis feels.

Despite some surprises, I really recommend everyone to climb the CN Tower at least once, especially for charity. After all, it's Toronto's landmark and it used to be the world's tallest free-standing structure.

This is a must. Who doesn't want to say you've been up this glowing sword looking alien spaceship tower, 447meters above Toronto? The price is about average for this type of venture up into a skyscraper. There is a lot of observation deck areas from the restaurant level to the glass floor level. If you pay a little extra you get to go up to the top floor, the sky pod, which is the 447m maximum you can go in CN tower.

The problem is that A. the nightview is so much better of toronto, which is sort of blah during the day, and B. the dayview is so much better for pictures in CN tower. You have to pick and choose your battles. The CN tower is built to keep people on it and its various glass barriers prevent a good picture. There is so much interference its really not worth trying for the most part. The outdoor area is so grated that its impossible to see anything. I understand that need but cmon, both the Seattle space needle and the Empire state building have grates that don't prevent you from seeing the whole.

My other gripe is that if you're going to have a glass floor make it so that it actually does something. I felt terrified at the Sears tower when i stepped on that floor but here with all the reflective paintings in the background I was practically like the little babies who were kissing the floor and jumping up and down on it. Its kind of pathetic actually.

If you stare at the outside while you're going up the first elevator you'll probably feel nauseated for a while after. I wouldn't recommend doing it for long periods of time. The glass floor in that elevator is pretty awesomely terrifying going up at those speeds.

Waited close to an hour to go up and what do I see? only 1/6 of Toronto. There are two levels, the main level and another higher level that costs more to see. Most people go to the main level. We get to the main level and guess what? Only 1/6 contains glass windows that you can see out of. The remaining circumference is occupied by a restaurant, restrooms and whatever else is there.

We go up a staircase to see the glass floor and it was just a small rectangular glass floor. We thought the whole floor would be glass. Nope.

So go if you only want a fraction of the Toronto skyline.

The CN Tower is just "something" you have to do while in Toronto. It had been almost 20 years since my last trip to the city -- and the tower -- and I am decidedly more fearful of elevators than when I was merely a junior high school student.

ACK! So much scared me. I couldn't look outward toward the doors of the glass elevators. I had to stare at the floor. For a whole 18 minutes, or however long it seemed to take to reach the visiting area of the structure.

The glass floors freaked me out. A lot. Even though the guide encouraged me with structure, weight facts and such, my legs were still shaking when looking down (and I couldn't stand RIGHT on the glass... too much). For a claustrophobic like me, I fared much better OUTSIDE on the Observation Deck. Yes, in below freezing temperatures, THIS I would rather.

Tip: Spend the extra $5 to upgrade to the SkyPod experience, an upper  upper-deck area of observation. I think it was another 33 floors or something. Or, like... 8 more hours in a tiny elevator. Worth it for the view.

Definitely take a Xanax, if you don't like heights. If you lean on the railing, you WILL feel the building sway.

Great view of Toronto. Loved the glass floor--scary feeling standing on the floor.

We visited CN Tower in summer 2008.  We got there at night in hope to see the night views from the top.  When I purchased the tickets, they told us that the ticket to go to the very top had sold out.  I was a little bit disappointed as we still have around 45 minutes until their closing time.

Another disappointment is that there are no access to go outside on top.  We can only view through the glasses.  The photos that I took are not great as the flash is reflected in the background.

Finally got around to visiting the TO landmark. For whatever its worth on a bright sunny day the view is beyond compare in the city. It was a bit crowded and things kept moving fast. I kinda liked the security screening machine (why oh why they don't have it at airport as it will speed things up real fast.)  and looks futuristic. Is it worth it? Sure if you are with visitors from out of town. Observation deck is kept clean and as for the outdoor deck not so much but you get to enjoy the strong wind and the view is understandably obstructed by all the mesh for security. Didn't go to the pod though maybe next time.

My family and I went on a Saturday. This was a big mistake. There was a 3 hour wait to get up and a 1 hour wait to get back down. The operation seemed very disorganized and it was so crowded the experience was not enjoyed.

It's a tourist thing to do..  Just going once is more than enough!

Comparing to Tokyo tower,  Shanghai Pearl Tower, and others, I actually found this a little lacking in terms of information.

I went up all the way to the top, but it didn't have any information about the tower or Toronto.  It doesn't have information what you are looking out at.  Before the elevator, it said it can see as far out as Niagara Falls but no one know which windows we need to look out at.  With the long wait on the elevators, but at most you can spend on top is maybe 5-10min...

The 4-6 glass panel Sky floor is cool.

For better deal, just buy a drink at the 360 restaurant and you can see the same view as the glass sky floor level

It's neat to look at, and neat to be up there especially with the glass floor.  But with the cheapest ticket, to find out that the outside observation deck was closed on a perfectly fine weather day, and that the inner observation deck is partially blocked off by a restaurant keeping me from seeing half the city unless I sat down and had an overpriced meal was a letdown.  They should have charged half price on the day I went.  And really, the view isn't that impressive.  The best part is looking down into Skydome.
