I've been shopping at this mall since it opened in the fall of 1996.  Many stores have come and go, but what has not changed is that I still love shopping at Clinton Crossing, which is incredible since I did work at a store (now closed) there for over six years.

To really maximize the savings, you need to do the following:
    1)  Print coupons from their website:  http://www.premiumoutl....  There are coupons exclusively online.
    2)  Bring your AAA card, if you have one.  Many stores give you a discount if you simply show your card.  Discounts vary.
    3)  Stop at the management office to pick up a coupon booklet.  Sometimes stores will drop off their coupons to lure shoppers in.
    4)  Sign up for the stores' promotional blasts.  For instance, I have gotten a five dollar off any purchase coupon from Bass outlet.  Jockey has e-mailed me coupons for a free panty.

    Stores worth stopping at:
    1)  Kate Spade
    2)  Banana Republic (they have a petite section, but you'll have to wait in line)
    3)  Cole Haan
    4)  Calvin Klein (no petites, but the merchandising there is impeccable)
    5)  Bass outlets (make sure you bring your coupons!)
    6)  Brooks Brothers

    Stores to skip:
    1)  J.Crew (it's a fire trap there and the employees are snobs; go to Westbrook location)
    2)  Coach (you'll die when you are trapped in an estrogen-filled room)
    3)  Sax Fifth Avenue
    4)  Dress Barn

Thought the stores don't stack up to other outlets like Woodbury or Wrentham, but more stores have move to Clinton Crossing.  Talbots and Chico's just opened, while Ann Taylor outlet is schedule to open in November.  I would like to see a White House Black Market and a Longchamp outlet to open here.

I've been coming here seasonally for about three years.

This place is a lot better for women then men.

Women have a larger section at the Barneys and Sacks stores plus they have dedicated stores (i.e. Michael Kors and BCBG).

Men...well we have under armor? Polo and J Crew.

I've never seen a busy day here, and that says a lot because I tend to do my christmas (eve) shopping here for last minute gifts.

It's generally staffed by high school and occasionally college students with barneys and sacks being the only exceptions.

it's a good outlet. I wish it was bigger but it has all the basics covered.

The first time I came here it was I believe in 2002?  I decided to return here yesterday as it was on the way.  It's still a great outlet....

The drive is longer than Woodbury's hour long drive.  I would say it took about 1:15 from Queens.  The extra 15 minutes is worth it though because you save almost $10 in tolls and shopping here is a superior experience.

The worst thing about shopping is the stress resulting from crowded outlet stores that have been flipped upside down by sale seeking barbarians.  This is not true at Clinton Crossing.  Shopping here is a laid back experience where you can shop leisurely.  The people who come here are polite in their shopping endeavors and willingly say "thank you" and "excuse me."  This is much different than a place like Woodbury Commons where anything goes....

I must mention how they now charge a 6% sales tax on clothing.  I'm not sure when this went into effect, but my previous visits were always tax free.  At first this really annoyed me.  But the big picture is that Woodbury charges 4% and the resulting 2% differential isn't so bad.  I'd gladly pay an extra 2 bucks on every $100 purchase to have the relaxing shopping experience that I always have here...

TIP:  have a meal at Cracker Barrel on Exit 40 of I95.  It's so TASTY there....

The best place in CT for a man like me to shop for clothes. Get rid of the crowds (a necessary evil for the prices) and this is retail shopping heaven.

Although I didn't really buy much on my last trip to the outlets, the store selection is pretty fantastic. High end retail like Underarmour, Saks 5th Ave, Barney's, Cole Haan-- and then more common stores like Banana Republic and JCrew (although the JCrew at Tanger Westbrook is MUCH better). The outdoor mall layout is comfortably walkable and not usually terribly crowded. It doesn't have the REALLY swanky brands that you'll find at the Woodbury Commons outlets (like Gucci) but I don't shop there anyway so it's a-ok!

Great outlet's but why is there only one little crappy excuse of an cafe to eat at? I've gotten so much stuff here and my mom a pair of Manolo's for less than 200 bucks at Barney's. Off Saks has some great designer stuff and I've gotten some real finds. BCBG isn't bad at all either. There's a lot of stuff I don't care about here but I feel like there could be just a little more variety.

An alright outlet mall off of a major highway.  It's a nice spot to drop off to for a quick shop/stretch of the legs, but I wouldn't ever say to make a day out of it or take a long detour.

It has the basic outlet stores, with a Saks/Barneys to go with it, bringing up the flair of the place.  Not too shabby eh!

Clinton Crossing Outets is convenient since its right off the I95 and I like it because there aren't any major crowds.  It's lacking the high end brands (Gucci, etc) that you would find at Woodbury but it does have a lot of nice deals at the Off 5th Saks where I was able to pick up a $1200 Zegna suit for less than $300.  My only complaint is that there is no food court but this outlet is great for quick shopping needs.

I like the assortment of stores here more than Westbrook, but since these are "PREMIUM" their goods overall are more expensive.  There are more high end designer stores here than over at Westbrook.  It's nice to go here when the weather is warm, otherwise you get a bit chilly walking throughout the layout.  It seems that during the summer months they have grills outside and people sell hamburgers and hot dogs.  Otherwise there is a cafe that sells (really gross) food.  Only recently have I begun to see signs pointing to restaurants in the area, and I think there's a Dunkin' Donuts nearby.  I recommend eating before you go, because you could definitely spend a lot of time perusing through the shops!

Department store items at outlet prices?? Sometimes...best time to shop for bargains is the month of February. If you prefer to shop with no crowds, go shopping after 6 PM. Coupons are available from the management office for AAA members.

An okay outlet mall. Was able to get some good items on sale. Most places were having deals such as Banana's sale items received an extra 30-40% off (scored there) as well as Kenneth Cole giving 30% off your entire purchase.

Came on a week night around 6PM and the place was pretty empty which was nice because it wasn't crowded and I didn't have to fight for small sizes or wait for dressing rooms. There is a Barney's as well as Off 5th for those who want high end shopping and there is Gap, J. Crew, Nine West and athletic stores for those who want to to regular shopping.

I'm comparing this place with the Woodbury Commons Premium outlets in NY so the place only gets 3 stars since it's okay in size and has somewhat of a variety.

    Excellent place to shop.
Nice prices for excellent name brands.
    Enough variety of outlet stores.
I just can't give this place five stars because I come from Jersey where malls rule. That's where real shopping kings and queens reign.

    Smart bargains.

This place is great - I've been to the Off 5th, Barney's, Ecco, Clark's, Gap and J Crew. All were well organized (for outlets with sales, very well organized!) and easy to use. First trip, I wanted brown sandals, I found brown sandals. Second trip, my shopping companion wanted shoes for work and pants, he found shoes for work, and pants. All at great prices - reduced to outlet price and then on sale on top of that.

So it's not just bargains on impractical stuff in weird colors that nobody wants; if you are looking to buy something specific, you can actually go here and find it. Which is sometimes rare in outlet shopping.

I've done a fair amount of bargain shopping - Woodbury (NY) and Franklin Mills (Philadelphia) are favorites, and I love TJ Maxx, Marshalls and, most of all Filene's Basement (the one in Pittsburgh is the best shopping there). But this place is an unexpected shopping delight.

Excellent clothing/shoes outlet mall, but definately lacking in other types of stores.

I like that there are some male accessible shops to keep us Y-chroms entertained, including the IZOD, Nike, Under Armour, Fossil and Sketcher's Stores.  My wife loves J. Crew, Banana Republic and the Tommy Hilfiger locations.  Savings are usually in the 15 to 30% range, but IZOD for instance was 50-60% off...I've got enough athletic wear for the next five years now.

Ample parking, except during holiday shopping.  Overall, very clean and organized well and nice to walk around in.  There's not really any food choices AT the mall, which is a good thing, as we found The Log Cabin, just up Main St. a bit.

Update:  I should pass along that if you visit the http://premiumoutlets.com website before your shopping trip, they've got excellent coupons that can save you an extra 15% or so for some stores, or a whole coupon book with more savings...

Dangerous place to shop. I had four shopping bags full in a span of 30 minutes.

Great service at Harry and David. I got all the Moose Munch and Hazelnut Praline coffee I could carry.  The smell of chocolate and coffee in the shop is intoxicating
9W happened to be having a sale. Every shoe on side wall $25 and the back wall priced at $10. It took all my control to keep it to only four pairs.

The Cosmetics Co. was stocked with fifty different clutches, makeup bags, purses stuffed with samples, priced at $10 and $15.
These were the nifty "free gift" jobbers that you get when you drop a certain amount at the makeup counter, but available here for reasonable sum. How many times have you dug into your handbag to buy an eyeliner or lipstick to get that "free gift" from Lancome or Clinique?  I was compelled to picked up about nine of these.

Good thing I only had a short time to shop or it would have gotten ugly.

They have a Cole Hahn outlet, a bunch of stores for the ladies, and clean restrooms.  What more could you want?  Vending machines?  OK.  They have those, too.  The Clinton Outlets are always worth the stop if you're driving through Connecticut.

This is a cute place to spend an afternoon shopping with the girls.  There isn't too much for guys.. a nike, bose, puma, and some clothing places.  they just added under armour.

Girls, however, its an awesome place to get great deals on designer clothing and accessories.

It's outdoors, so prepare for weather.

There is only one cafe, nothing special.  They closed the food court so if you are really hungry there is a McDonalds or Friendly's up the road.

Another "place to stop" while travelling the concrete ribbon. My entire family was present - EVERYONE found SOMETHING to purchase as a genuine bargain !! I will say that the help in every store we stopped in was very friendly - not pushy but helpful. Bathrooms were clean which is always nice. They might be shy a few benches to sit on for comfort on a hot summer day but they do a good job of taking care of this facility.

These outlets were terrific when they first opened.  At that time, bargains were commonplace.  I would often shop here instead of the mall.

But things have changed for the worse and today many of the stores don't offer the steep discounts like they used to.  They have become just additional channels to the franchises' regular retail channels. Plus, many retailers are deceptive and intentionally sell lesser quality stuff made specifically just for outlets (hello Banana Republic).  Today it's not uncommon to find better deals at your local Macy's or Bloomingdales. Those places often have better prices and better quality.

Plus, I don't know what it is, but the the rudeness-arrogant-weirdo factor has increased exponentially over the last several years.  I suppose that should be of little surprise because New York and Jersey people literally pack the stores and sidewalks on the weekends.  When I say literally, I mean literally.  They peak during the summer months and they're really easy to spot out of the crowd.

Therefore if you must go, I recommend going late on the weekdays.  That's really the only time I will shop here.

I love Off 5th at this outlet center. You can really great some great deals here, especially when it comes to designer jeans, suit separates, and accessories. I buy sevens and tue religion jeans for half the price of retail stores and you obviously do not have to worry about authenticity. They have tons of different styles and sizes. They also carry my absolute favorite clothing line...Theory. Again at a great deal. What I have not had much luck with are the shoes...they tend to be pretty funky and far from everyday wear type of shoes...but thats where the cole haan outlet comes in handy!

Not one of my favorite places to go. The majority of stores sell clothing and shoes and most seem redundant. The same things can be found in other places at better prices. I frequently don't find what I am looking for here and end up going somewhere else. There is a lot of parking, but there seems to be little shelter going form one place to another.

This outlet center has seen better days- namely back in the late '90s.  While there are def. some sweet deals to be found at places like Saks, J Crew, and Banana, there is also a lot of crap.  It just may take a little patience to figure out which is which.

In comparison to the Westbrook outlets, Clinton Crossing is definitely more upscale. It's split into two sections: one main section of stores, and then over the bridge is another smaller grouping of stores (including Nike, Liz Claiborne, etc. The main section includes Ralph Lauren, Barney's, Coach, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Bose, Off Sack's, BCBG, and the new Banana Republic outlet. The holiday sales here are fantastic, just be prepared - during the Christmas and summer seasons, you'll be lucky to find a parking spot.
