Came here for some hot-pot goodness.  This place was a total war zone.

Parking is available in the lot out front, but the lot (as with anything else on Alexandra) is obviously not large enough.  As you can't really park on the adjacent lots and the street parking is just as full, the only advice I can give is to cross your fingers, and rub your lucky penny if you have one.

The waiting area is quite tiny, and our reservation was held back by a good 45(!) minutes.  Being the Chinese New Year weekend probably didn't help too much.  People kept bumping into us, and every time someone opened the door, my friends and I would freeze.

Everyone here is only here for 1 thing: the $18 ayce hot pot.  This price doesn't include the soup base, so be prepared to spend a few bucks more.  With that said, this place has some of the tastiest bases I have had in any hot pot restaurant.  The satay was very flavourful, and the spicy chili one (see pics) really is something special.  You'd think the soup would be one giant burning sensation, but they balance the flavours out with lots of peppercorns and other herbs and spices.

As for the food? The variety is excellent, and the high turnover here ensures that the ingredients are fresh.  The pork neck is very tender, and the other seafood is quite fresh.  Fresh oysters are capped at 2 per person.

Another thing worth mentioning is their plum juice, is some of the best I've had anywhere.  Maybe it's actually because it's diluted or there's a bit more sugar, but this is one of the few places where I liked it enough to drink my entire glass.  Just don't mind the cheap plastic cup it's served in.

I think I will be back.

Went for the dim sum but after reading the rest of the reviews I guess I should have had the hotpot! The prices are a bit higher than I would have expected given that the hot pot prices were pretty cheap. We ordered 8 dishes: preserved egg and pork congee, steamed pork dumplings topped with quail egg, shrimp dumplings, deep fried spring rolls, rice rolls with shrimp, chicken feet, spareribs, and sticky rice. We had already filled out the menu while waiting to be seated so I flagged someone down to give it to. What I found disappointing was a lack of interested shown to us when we were seated. I actually had to ask if I could order some tea that was featured on the paper placemats. When she brought the cart over, I ordered the Lychee Red Tea and she scooped some tea leaves in a cup for me. I was confused and asked her to explain this to me. We were apparently supposed to order individually these leaves?!
She explained that the leaves go in the cup (with a cover) already on the table, steeped in there and poured by me into my teacup.

Overall, service was lacking and food was average. Tea experience was strange and I spilled a lot....

May return for all you can eat hotpot.....Maybe

The food itself was delicious. The assortment of meat, veggies, and seafood was filling and served for some good, fun conversation.

We sat in the so-called "VIP" dining room which was basically the end of the restaurant with closing doors and our own television playing Chinese news.

I enjoyed all the food options and everything was tasty and fine.

When in Richmond AYCE hotpot is a must. AYCE hotpot gives you many choices for meats and vegetables to cook up yourself. I decided to try Claypot just a couple of doors down from my usual spot at Cattle. Claypot is much larger and tables spread out.
There are the usual choices of sliced meats and various vegetables along with a couple of different choices I've never seen before.

Overall the service is quick and the food is fresh.
Just a warning the spicy szechuan broth is VERY SPICY.
It brought back memories when i was travelling in Beijing and Xian.

Of all of the AYCE hot pot restaurants, this one surely stands out as one of the better ones.

    What's better?

The free range chicken, Maple Leaf pork, and Canada Grade A beef. Meats are fresh, and not frozen, as in many other places. Selection is good, and one new item that I haven't seen before are lamb dumplings. Minced lamb with carrots and celery, this one has an interesting taste.

Service is excellent. Plates are always cleaned up, servers are always checking on you, and they don't rush you out of the restaurant. (There is a 2 hour limit.)

Unlimited pop & sour plum juice for $1 extra per person. It's canned pop too, none of that watered down fountain pop.

Basic dipping sauces are included- soy sauce, satay sauce, as well as peanut sauce. Extra condiments (garlic, green onion, parsley...) are $0.50 each.

The whole revamp of this place is great. More upscale than other places, and tables are not cramped together. A comfortable environment to enjoy delicious hot pot? I can't complain!

It is a popular all you can eat hotpot place on the weekends. Fast service, and I had a good server who told us that we didn't order enough food for everybody at the table (10 people). Definitely deserves a big tip!

The bottom of plates are slightly elevated so that the meat on one plate don't touch the bottom of the plate stacked above. (ie. don't need to worry about the meat touching the bottom part of the plate when the orders arrive all stacked up together).

Fast service to refill your orders (ie. no more waving your arms up and down like a mad person to get attention from servers).

Reasonable price, will go back again! Remember to wear hotpot proof clothes if you don't want to smell like hotpot when you walk out!

Parking can be quite a hassel due to limited parking spaces available.

Read Vincci L's review and that's that.

Quality, decent service and we were in the private room.
    Top that!

If only I could get a friend to learn how to eat Hot pot properly.

He was trying to put the spinach in the pot, one piece at a time.

After leaving Ying Kee for the extra charge, we arrived at Claypot. There were a 30minutes wait, but it's okay. The price is fair and no hidden cost. My favorite are all the vegetable, iced tofu, and fish balls.
    Service:  Good
Environment:  Generally, it's ok.  They really need new chairs.  There are no more cushion in all the chairs.
