I hate going to hardware stores. I don't usually know what I'm doing and the places confuse me and I'm sure I'm going to chop my hand off or something in one of these places. Plus, I always feel like a dumb girl with dumb questions even if I kind of know what I need to ask.

None of those problems at Clark-Devon Hardware. Tons of helpful staff to help me find things and offer suggestions, they have EVERYTHING there, and as much as I hate hardware stores, I don't mind shopping here. I mean, if I *have* to go to a hardware store.

Clark & Devon hardware is essential if you need anything for a house of a older vintage.
Because it is so far away I usually try other places first, but ultimately end up here for what ever I'm looking for.
They have had plumbing fittings that the box stores don't have & parts for old double hung sashes.
Once when the guy in plumbing, who always gives me that "I've seen you before but I am unsure" look asked me if I had any questions, I touted: "Do you remember if I have enough wood glue left on my bench for this project?" He said that he wasn't sure if I did or not but that as long as I kept is sealed anymore that I bought wouldn't go bad. Great answer to a smart assed question!
Go here. Support these folks. They support you after all.

There's sometimes a reason you have to make the slog to Lowe's, but it's always worth checking at Clark-Devon first.  Everyone there is super-nice, the selection is surprisingly vast, and they flat-out know. their. stuff.  They will help you figure out exactly what you need to do your project, make sure you know what you're doing along the way, and never up-sell you (shoot, they'll talk you down from an overly-expensive option).  You'll never say that about Lowe's.

By the way, if you ever need wood cut to spec, George in the back is a master.  We brought in some trim pieces, gave directions as best we could, and left with fingers crossed.  An hour or two later, we got a phone call that they were ready.  Each piece was cut impeccably, to the point that we didn't have to use caulk or spackling at all.  I'm pretty handy with a power mitre saw (and a real perfectionist to boot), but I couldn't have done half as well myself.  Give that man a raise.

Always have what you need, not over priced like other mom and pop shops.  The staff is extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help you with whatever you need.  If they don't have something in stock they will special order it for you.

Nice big store with hours to serve most people.  There is so much stuff in there it's a little hard to find your way around, but the staff can help you find pretty much whatever you would need from a hardware store.  You could easily come out with more than you went in for.

Ugh- It really hurts me to give Clark-Devon Hardware only 3 stars, but I have to. If this review reflected only their customer service, it would be 5.

I'll spare you all of the gory details, but the nitty gritty is that I couldn't get my old license plate off. After a number of attemps, some rust-remover/softener spray on the bolts, and instructions to "come back on Monday", that's just what I did.

FF then to yesterday. Knowing that they closed at 6- (SIX PM ON WEEKDAYS!!!!!) I left work in the loop early to make it in time. I didn't even stop at home, went straight to the car, and made it by 5:35. I found the guy that tried to help me the 2 days before, (Me: "Hi! You said come back on Monday and here I am!" Him: "not at 5:30!" (groan)

At check out some 20 min later, right as I am enthusiastically being told to leave, I mention casually to the cashier that it would be a LOT more convenient for those of us DIY neighboorhood folk with 9-5 jobs if the store stayed open even one more hour, until 7. Then, a gruff owner-looking individual peeks his head out from a loft-like "office" above and rudely informs me that they've been open since 7:30 THIS MORNING! (Wow! 7:30??? In the AM?? Well excuuuuuuuuuuuse me!)

Who do these people think their customers are? Listen, Clark-Devon Hardware. Not ALL of your customers are contractors who buy their goods in the middle of the day. Most of us have jobs, and can't make it to your store by 6. You know where I'll go next time? Home Depot. Yep. They open at 6am and close at 9pm on weekdays.

Thank you for loaning me your Phillips head. Thank you for your really nice employees. I may be back if I need something and I get lucky enough that you're open at the time, But I can tell you now that Home Depot will likely be my go-to.

This is a pretty great store, especially if you're looking for a specialty product that is hard to find.

We were looking for some parts for broken windows that we couldn't find elsewhere, and they had them at Clark-Devon Hardware. We also had a cracked window that needed to be repaired. Staff showed my husband how to fix it, which saved us a couple bucks. They also do window repairs there too. It's also a good place to take old locks that need to be re-keyed.

This is a pretty happening place, especially if you go during the week when it seems like all the independent contractors and handymen like to hang out. There is a parking lot in back, and I've always been able to find a spot there.

Overall, I've had really good experiences every time I've gone to Clark-Devon Hardware. Staff is friendly and helpful, the store is organized and they have a great variety of specialty parts.

Maybe it's the training.  Maybe it's the passion.  Maybe it's the stamp on my forehead that says "I haven't a clue what I'm doing."  Then again, a girl can always hope it's the fact that she's walking around a hardware store in a cute dress.  Regardless of the reason, I was asked 4 times in my 10 minute visit to Clark-Devon Hardware I needed any help.  Boy did I.

I'll spare you the face palmingly silly details but suffice it to say that the people there know their stuff, and are happy to help you know it too.  I won't be going anywhere else for my *ahem* gritty home improvement projects (read: problem with the air conditioner that, turns out, is solved by simply changing the air filter) as long as I live in this neighborhood.

This place is great!  The staff is REALLY helpful and they know their stuff.  And if you're looking for it, they definitely have it!  They even have classes to teach you how to take care of a few simple things at home (like how to install a ceiling fan!)

I recently went to another hardware store down clark street and they were not as keen to help me.  Then I told them, "that's ok, I'll just head down to Clark Devon Hardware, they have everything there" THAT is when the woman behind the counter wanted to help me.  It's ok, lesson learned, Clark Devon Hardware first and always!

My only complaint is that the aisle are small (really small) and the shopping carts are large (very wide) and when it's busy in there it can be a bit tough to navigate through the aisles.

It's two weeks before Christmas, it's blizzarding outside, and my mother and I are on the hunt for mini white Christmas lights on a green strand (not a white!).

First stop, Target, where we find one set of LED lights on a white strand. This will not fly. I call Sears and am told that my local Sears has them on hand. We jump in the car and drive (or slip and slide through sludge) over, only to discover that the customer service lady misinformed me and they don't even stock holiday lights! A Sears employee recommends a nearby hardware store, where we go, only to find the shelves empty. We stop at another hardware store, to find only green and red holiday lights.

And then finally, I remember that when I lived in Rogers Park, I always found what I needed at Clark and Devon Hardware. From my little crafting projects to big clean-up jobs, Clark and Devon had always come through for me with great customer service and awesome stock. But, in this weather, two weeks before the holiday, could it be possible??? I called them up.

Me: Hi, I'm wondering if you guys have, by any chance at all, mini white indoor Christmas lights.

Gentleman on the phone, probably the manager: Yep!

    Me: You're kidding.

    GOTPPTM: No, why?

Me: I have been all over, and NOBODY has them.

GOTPPTM: Welp, we have them. I'm looking at them on a tree in our store right here.

Me: But... but... do you have them in stock??

GOTPPTM: Yes. (A pause.) Well, let me check.

[He puts me on hold. I immediately know in my heart that I will now be let down, my heart will be broken and he will come back and say that he was wrong and there's only that one string on their display tree and sorry bu--]

GOTPPTM: Yep, we have them. LED lights and regular mini lights. We got em. Lots of them, right here.

    Me: .....Really?

    GOTPPTM: ...... YES.

Me: Oh my gosh, Thank you! THANK YOU!!!!!!

GOTPPTM: Uh, sure! Come on over!

Sure enough, they were stocked to the gills! I couldn't believe my luck, and from his manager perch above the checkouts, the GOTPPTM spotted me as the maniacal, holiday-light-obsessed girl on the phone and said hi.

THIS, my friends, is what we call awesome customer service. I have always been totally satisfied walking out of Clark and Devon Hardware, but man oh man, now more than ever. Thanks, Clark and Devon!!!!

Horrible experience.  I don't give out poor ratings just to do it, but they deserve this review.

Admittedly, I didn't know exactly what I needed, but these guys are supposed to be the friendly experts that help you solve problems.  Bullshit.  Without going into all the details here, I described the problem to the guy who first asked if I needed help, and this first guy said he had no idea what to recommend, so he asked another guy, who seemed annoyed to be bothered while he was in the middle of something.  Guy #2 scoffed at my question, as if to suggest that it was idiotic.  Even if it was, which it wasn't, at least be polite.  He pointed to one product and said it was the only possible solution.  I asked him if it was OK to use it outdoors, and he said yes.  Then he disappeared.

Upon reading the box, I found out that it was expressly stated that it is NOT to be used outdoors.  I told this to guy #1, and he said, uh, well, guy #2 will be back in a minute.  Then guy #1 disappeared.

They seem to have a million other people working there, and none of them asked if I needed help, even though I was standing idly in the middle of the store clearly needing help.  So I figured they must have a system of some sort, and they knew guy #2 was helping me.  Who knows.

Anyway, guy #2 was finally back about 10 minutes later and as I started to talk to him he walked right passed me on his way to ask another customer if they needed help.  Guy #1 passed by a few more times, as did guy #2 and another guy who looked like a manager, but they all avoided eye contact.  I suppose I could have tackled one of them and demanded assistance, but I don't think I should have to do that.

    Thanks a lot...dicks.

How fortunate I am to have this store in my new neighborhood! I could tell from the size of it that they would have everything I could need. Setting up a new apt is always a PITA, but with this store, it was a piece of cake. From a toilet paper holder and shower rod to heavy duty extension cords, this store has it all!

And you don't have to go searching for help. Help is all around! Every staff member is friendly and knowledgeable. They know what good, old fashioned customer service is  - and that it means you will be a repeat customer and tell everyone to shop there!

I wasn't sure if something I bought would work out, and without even asking - the rep said "Try it out, if it doesn't work, bring it back!" I wound up having to bring something else back, which was cheerfully refunded.

A store like this in the neighborhood is a Godsend and far better than any chain store could ever be.

The customer service is amazing! Staff there is very helpful and patient. As for the products - this store is the must go if you have problems - e.g. with plumbing - in  the older  building built in 1960 or so.

I had to replace the Speakman Kent shower faucet head, (impossible to find online!) and regular hardware store (Lowe's and Home Depot) did not have this old brand, so they recommend I went to Clark & Devon. I went there - and the guy helped me right away to find the needed brand. I had to return the handles later, since they did not fit due to other pipe measurements i had not though at the beginning, so i came back, explained the problem, and they gave me the stuff that fit  (and the return of the handles that did not fit had been processed very quickly).

    - Very knowledgeable and helpful stuff;
    - Can find majority if the old crazy brands for your home repair there.

Clark Devon is the largest independantly owned hardware in the (city, state, country ??? I don't remember which category it is).

They have free instructional classes every 2-4 weeks Wednesdays for anyone who shows up. The classes are always helpful.

    Outstanding in every area.
    Selection,
    Service,
    Rentals,
    Helpfulness,
    Locksmith services,

The only downside is that there are not more of them, or one more convenient to my own neighborhood.

I came here looking for a stepladder for my kitchen, the first guy I talked to knew exactly where to find them and instead of just pointing in the general direction he walked all the way over there to show me the ladders and made sure we knew which kinds were available. In general it seems like employees at this store know where stuff is and are happy to help you find it. Compared to a huge store like Lowe's, shopping here was a great experience.

Clark-Devon Hardware seems to have...  EVERYTHING.

I used to go to Lowes to get supplies for my small household projects...  But I'd inevitably have to go back a second or third time...  Not with Clark-Devon Hardware however!  Everyone there is unbelievably helpful and friendly and they seem to have everything from the smallest washers and gaskets, to major appliances.

But the best thing about Clark-Devon hardware is...  They've gotten me to start thinking about what else I can fix, rather than just replace.

THIS is the hardware store that I go to when I have a home fix it problem that only a hardware dude can fix. A look of utter chick-bewilderment will usually get an amused, yet very helpful "Can I help you?" YES! Please!

You can also rent tools and buy lumber here, if you're into that sort of thing. An incredibly comprehensive store. If they don't have it, it's likely they know where to find  it.

I should first say that I am a complete dummy in the home improvement department.  Let me also admit that places like Lowes and Home Depot overwhelm me.

    Ok then........

I've been to Clark-Devon Hardware several times and have been pleased with the service and selection.  I've not gone in to buy a ton of building supplies, but I have gotten misc. items, keys cut, wood cut, etc.

The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and they don't make you feel stupid for asking for something that you have no idea about.  A few months ago I had to have a shelf cut apart.  I took it to Lowe's and they wouldn't do it b/c it didn't meet the size requirement.  Clark-Devon did it in less than 5 minutes for only a couple of bucks.

Last summer my boyfriend wanted to hang a flat screen TV and didn't know how to do it on an "exterior wall".  Clark-Devon walked him through the process and told him exactly what supplies to get to make sure the TV was securely anchored.  He was impressed with the help.

Anyway, It's not a huge store but they seem to cram a lot into a little space.  I highly recommend for your home improvement needs.

If you need something for your home, plumbing, electric, you name it... this is the place- especially if you want to avoid a big box store.

Clark-Devon is a contractors dream as well as a homeowners assistant!  They are friendly, helpful, and do not treat you like an idiot.

As a new homeowner, owning a place that had fixtures and plumbing from the late 60's, I found myself in need of parts that were not carried at the big box stores.
My brother- who helped fix things, would send me here.  The employees never laughed at me- which is pretty amazing considering the fact that half of the time I was trying to read my brothers handwriting and explain what was broken.

I am convinced that they saved me big $$.  I still go here when I need things, and I still sound like an idiot.  We have now had this relationship for over 10 years.  The employees still smile, and treat me with respect and courtesy.  I appreciate it.
    THANK YOU CLARK-DEVON!

You ever have that feeling of, you know you wrote a review about a place, but can't seem to find it?

    WT-Fudge.

Many of these other 4-5 star reviews mention finding exactly what they needed and or getting helped out of a pickle.  If you live in the locale or Chicago North side, you should definitely find that hardware need for your place.  Clark-Devon is known by many contractors and handymen that service the North side of Chicago.  Why?  It's one of the biggest hardware shops.  But Jacob you say, it's not bigger than Home Depot or Lowe's.  No it's not.  When you need something specific for your place it's best to check out local hardware shops first, like this one or any Ma and Pop owned TruValue like hardware store.
These shops will house needs for homes and apartments.  Such as fuses; not everyone has the standard switched fuse box.  There are many buildings around this area that use the old school style of screw in fuses.  These can be found here and the cost is minimal in comparison to ordering them at HD or Lowe's.  Often sold in boxes of four but singles can be purchased as well.  In Sarah J.'s review she mentioned finding odd shaped windows which makes total sense to me since I too found them here.  Much easier to have my contractor pick them up here at a specific price than to have Home Depot measure and sell me some comparable windows for a higher price.

If you take the time and look in your hood, you'll save yourself some grief.  As far as service, I'd say 8 out of 10 times the clerk or associate asked why I needed the parts.  Just to see what kind of job it was and whether they could offer some assistance or additional equipment.  Questions and conversation like that is hardly found today in the larger scale chain hardware shops where most associates try not to get asked questions. I fucking hate it when a store associate tries to avoid your eye contact, so as, not to be bothered.  Not the case here, most store associates will try and answer or point you to someone more knowledgeable.

Clark-Devon is right on the corner of this intersection and a has an interesting entrance into the parking lot, careful not to cause an accident.  Decent amount of parking which never gets too crowded even on the busiest of weekends.

This place bailed me out of a huge jam recently.  My usual go-to plumbing supply place, The Faucet Shoppe, was closed for two weeks over the holidays, and I was up the creek with two cracked shower stems (that apparently happens when a tenant leaves his door open when it's 30 below zero), that were unlabled and apparently uncommon.

After driving all over the city in blinding snow and frigid cold, in my own personal planes-trains-and-automobiles style odyssey, and getting blank stares from so-called professionals at other so-called plumbing supply stores, these folks were able to recognize and give me the right part.

In general, shopping here warms the Special Area of my anti-big-box soul.  It's like a slightly scaled down Home Depot, but with a genuine small business vibe.  They have pretty much everything you want, in a warmer more welcoming atmosphere.  For some reason the main thing that struck me about this place was the low (compared to Home Depot) ceilings.  It was nice shopping in a hardware super store without the imminent threat of an improperly shelved pallet of toilets falling on top of me and thereby bringing my meager existence to a merciful, ignominous yet somehow fitting end.

There are a couple reasons why I can't give this place the full five stars, though.

First, when I bought the stems ($70) I made it very clear to the guy at the plumbing desk I was not a plumber and was unfamiliar with ceramic disk cartridges specifically, and asked if there was anything I needed to know to install it without ballsing the whole thing up.  He said no and it was as easy as could be.  When I got back to the building I noticed the stems were both in several pieces inside the bag (I don't know if they gave them to me that way or that happened in transit, but I wasn't particularly rough with them).  I put them back together and installed them, but I had cracked the disks either putting them together or installing them and so had to go back the next day and do the whole thing over again.

When I explained what happened, the guys at the desk first made fun of me then explained that ceramic disk cartridges are very expensive and very delicate and I needed to take care to keep them in one piece and not overtighten them otherwise they would break.  I was like, "Okay, but didn't I kind of ask this question one day and $70 ago?"  All in all, I can't blame them for my incompetence but I still feel like the guy could have been a little more helpful up front.

Lastly, it took me like twenty minutes to check out, which was kind of annoying.  They only had two lanes open and as soon as I got to the front of the one lane the older lady at the register closed it to take a quick break.  I can't be too hard on her--she was about 700 years old, had obviously been on her feet drinking coffee all day, and probably just had to make a quick BMW.  But couldn't they have one of the other 50 people working there cover the register if they're only going to have two lanes for the whole store?  I switched over to the back of the only remaining line, and by the time I got to the register the girl at the counter continued to chat with the guy in front of me (a contractor, obviously a regular) for a while as though there was no one behind him, which probably wouldn't have irked me otherwise but given all the above was irritating.

The day was thoroughly saved though by the fact that they have Tootsie Roll Pops at the register.  These are probably my favorite candy ever despite the fact they make me think of the old creepy commercial where the owl who is really a pedophile gets off on licking kids' Tootsie Pops.  I bought like twenty and nom-nomed them on the way home, put in the second set of $70 stems and forgot about all the above.

So I guess I'm saying I liked the place.  Like I said, they bailed me out of a jam.

I've walked in here once and it was to have keys made.  I loved it, mostly because I was so thoroughly intimidated by how "manly hardware" it looked.  I was thrilled that it didn't have any of the friendliness of Lowe's or Home Depot.  It's a store who knows who it is: It's a Hardware Store.

Obviously, my job almost didn't qualify as a real one but for the 10 minutes I was there I felt like if I had a more complex problem, I could ask and the wouldn't treat me like an idiot (well, they might, but I AM actually a hardware idiot so I'd give them points for recognizing that and being actual authorities on hardware.)  For a long time I've searched for reasons to go back and, despite heartfelt attempts, haven't destroyed anything enough to the point of warranting another trip...but I'm still hoping.

This also may be excessively "girlie" for such a "Manly Hardware Store" but I love the clock on the outside of the building (as part of their sign.)  It tells you everything you need to know about this place.  They're not messin' around in there.

Ace may be the place for the helpful hardware man but I'm still gonna go to CDH.

My one experience with this business was excellent and definitely made my two mile trek worth every step. I walked into the building, which is located on the northeast corner of the Clark-Devon intersection, and went to the specific section of the store I thought contained the product I was looking for. Well, I didn't find the product in that section and, as soon as I put on my "I'm lost, help me" look, a female employee walked past and asked if I needed any help finding anything.

I was looking for was suction cups to hold things like a bath sponge to the shower wall, so I thought they would be in the bathroom section of the store. Well they were in hardware. I thanked her, she left, and I started looking around the store for another thing I was thinking about getting. I wasn't even able to move away from the suction cups on the wall before another employee asked if there was anything else I needed. I was looking for bathroom mats. He lead me back to the bathroom section, and the same female employee came back and helped me again.

Now, the store only had two of them, which didn't leave me with too much of a selection to pick from. All of a sudden, she said to me, "I am going to highly advise you to just go to Target and buy a bathroom mat/rug there. These ones (that we have) are 3x more expensive than what you would find at Target. So go there. Don't buy them here."

She wasn't interested in selling me anything at all; instead she was more interested in seeing that I got what I needed. Seldom do I ever hear an employee of one store recommend an item at another competing store. That almost never happens.

Well, I left the store with just the suction cups. The one (there were three of them in the package) that I am using is working wonderfully. It has yet to detach from the wall, unlike the other ones my Mom bought for home.

Two reasons why this is the best hardware store to go to:
    1) it has everything
    2) Workers really go out of their way to help you, despite it being quite busy inside. Case in point- I ask where I can find caulking, guy takes me to aisle, asks what job I am doing precisely, and recommends which products I could buy depending on my job.
Then I ask where I can find pest control. Guy asks me what pests I have, different strategies, and then recommends products based upon my comments and concerns.

Both times I never asked for help, I just asked for a direction, but these guys were great.

A great place to run to when you absolutely need something for fixing up your place.  This is a great local hardware store, and they have a very helpful staff.  I recommend this place before any one of the big box stores.

This place also has the distinction of having staff members who were able to read my keys from a distance when I needed copies made.  That is unique!

Over the last few years I've been working with my parents to rehab the condo I bought in Andersonville.  During this time, I would on occasion hear my dad say "I've got to run up to Clark-Devon, be back soon." or  "I ordered it from Clark-Devon, your mom is picking it up after work today."

Little did I know what a magical place this Clark-Devon was!

I took my first trip there just last week to have some glass cut for a couple of pictures I was framing. (Yes! They do that!)  The moment I walked in a very nice & nice looking guy asked me if I needed help and not in the way that sounds sexist or condescending!

I didn't wander the store as much as I would have liked, still dealing with a bum leg and all - but I'm dreaming of the day when I can go back in order to have some very nice, hot guys help me with all my hardware needs.

Especially the guy with the tattoo sleeves.  I'd rent a jackhammer from you any day.

I'm a hardware store weirdo.  Ever since I was a kid, I love, love, love hanging out in hardware stores.

For me, there are four things that make a GREAT hardware store:

    1)  Knowledgeable staff who know how to use everything they sell and can help you SOLVE A PROBLEM, not just point you towards an aisle.
    2)  Staff that is polite and respectful, not condescending, to women.  Yeah, I'm a girl.  But I own a Sawzall and I know how to use it.
    3)  Quality inventory which includes the funky, rare elements needed to fix ALL HOUSES, including old houses with steam heat and wood windows.  Not just generic McMansion supplies.
    4) Reasonable prices.

Clark & Devon gets high marks on all of these requirements.  Unlike Home Depot (where floor staff have a- told me I was crazy for restoring versus replacing my wood windows, b- didn't know what backer rod was, c- didn't sell steam radiator shut off valves, d-can't make a new key correctly to save their lives), C & D has the stuff AND knows their stuff.

    Big love for C & D.

I've been away from Chicago for 2 years and besides the food, the thing I miss most is Clark Devon Hardware.  I wish that Lowe's or Home Depot could come close in not only selection but knowledge of staff.  Gods, I'm redoing my house now and I miss you Clark Devon Hardware!

Wait one thing, the first time you try and park there, it sucks.  Aftter you figure out how easy it is to sneak down 3 side streets and wrap your Rav4 around a contractors pick-up, parking's a snap.

I will gladly go out of my way & spend a few extra nickels to shop at this hardware store. The quality of service is quite exceptional. EVERY question was given a very high level of attention, not like at the big box hardware stores where the majority of employees look irritated when you ask them for help.  Heck, most of them aren't even well versed in their department!

Leaving Clark Devon Hardware with confidence is well worth the extra cost of some of the items.

A great store for all your home improvement needs but my favorite memory is showing up with my 4 y.o. son and I asked if they sold "robot arms" wink wink. The kind gentleman understood immediately and we bought a length of dryer machine vent tubing: PERFECT!

The staff is very helpful, and it's very easy to navigate around.  Big enough to have reasonable prices and small enough that you are not overwhelmed.

There's also free parking in the small lot at the entrance.

Clark-Devon is what a hardware store is supposed to be.

Anyone who has wasted their time in a Home Depot or other big box is in danger of passing out the first time they walk into Clark-Devon and somebody walks up to them and asks if they can be of help.  And the kicker is this:  They can actually be of help!!

Doesn't matter if you're in the trades or just a weekend project person, Clark-Devon is the place for you!

Walking in here is like you've died and gone to hardware store heaven.

Better than the big box stores, both in quality inventory as well as customer service. The staff is always asking if you need help, and throws out tons of experience and recommendations for whatever project you're working on.

Ok, so I love hardware stores (and office supply stores) and meandering around the aisles. Not that I have a lot of projects going on in my apartment, but still, when i needed a saw, picture frame hook, lightbulb extension thingie, drain unclogger... this is my place! Right down the street, free parking, and super helpful staff. Ive never been able to go in for more than, oh, say, three minutes without having someone approach me and ask what I need. And then ask what Im using it for to make sure I have the right thing, and do I need anything else? It actually makes me feel bad for meandering, I keep having to tell people Im just looking! They have all sorts of gadgets and tools packed in, I cant believe that they fit so much stuff in a store that size. Not that its tiny, just that compared to Lowes or HD, I cant think of anything that CDH is missing!

Super helpful, always have what I need.

I love this store!  I had been on a quest to find a very tiny 120 volt light bulb which are mounted beneath my kitchen cabinets for accent.  I visited 2 Aces and a reputable lighting store, and not only did they not carry it, but for some reason, couldn't order it.  I didn't realize these particular g8 lights would be so hard to find, so I was amazed that they actually stocked it.  It's a relief to have a reliable hardware store in the hood.

General hardware stuff... Hey this place is great I have only walked out once without what I came looking for, the staff is helpful and unlike Home Depot you can find someone to help you.

    Change your air filter.
