This is one of the best-run doctors' offices I've ever visited. We're always seen pretty close to our appointment time, which is remarkable in any OHIP office. The best part, though, is that they have separate blocks of time for sick visits and well visits, with the sick visits being drop in hours with no appointments.
This is a genius model, because it means no no-shows and a lot less administrative cost and hassle for the doctors, no worries for parents about having a sick kid and a first available appointment days away and no waiting room mingling of well kids and sick kids. You just show up, usually in a chunk of about 3 hours (hours are posted on their very good web site and also outlined on their voice mail), and in my experience they see you within a half hour. My own family doc keeps me waiting longer than that for a scheduled appointment. We once showed up at 4:57 for drop in hours that ended at 5 and they didn't bat an eyelash. We saw the doctor within 5 minutes.
Our doctor is Carolyn Taylor, who is wonderful. She's always a bit rushed like any doctor, but she's smart and listens well. She has a great manner with kids and with parents.
The only downside is that it's difficult to be accepted as a new patient. A personal referral may help.
