OPEN TILL 1 AM on a TUESDAY night while it appears the rest of the village is snoozing. Didn't have a chance to do a thorough research while back at the cabin but this was the only place besides Duhb Linn's Bar that popped up as being open this late.
Not a bad spot. TV's everywhere. People are freaking nice here. Drinks are good. Pool table (bonus!). Bar food was pretty good. Had the fish and chips and my friend had the chicken burger. Burger was alright, fish and chips were yummy,
Not bad for the first place to hit up on our trip up to Whistler but sooo many places I still want to check out! :) -

Ehhhh
I have to say..it kinda smelled when we walked in. Came here after dinner in the village. We went to the upstairs seating and it's pretty much seat yourself. Sat at one of the belly tables and waited for the waiter (trying to ignore the smell of stale rags). Got our drinks-they have a lot of fun drinks on the menu, I just wish they were stronger.
I have had much better Caesar's elsewhere, there's was mix and vodka and pickles. The other drinks were not nearly as strong as we thought it should be for the price.
If I had eaten here, I might have given it more stars, so my review is based on drinks. Although a table next to us didn't finish their poutine and usually if it's good, you don't leave any behind. -
Review from Ninette C.
I recently came here for the 3rd time. It's a nice casual bar for grabbing a drink. I've been here at night, in the middle of the day and also for dinner. The nice thing is, Citta doesn't get too crowded. Why, I'm not sure because I think its pretty solid, but this works out well for me.
Last time, we ordered winter ales, apple cider (alcoholic) and a bottled mango alcoholic beverage. We also split the poutine and crab poppers for a 3pm snack (just arrived in town). The drinks were good. The guys loved the winter ales and ordered 2-3 each. I liked my mango drink. The poutine could have been cheesier and everyone liked the poppers.
The waitress was also very helpful with telling us about NYE parties and bringing us a Whistler newspaper to help us out.
In the afternoon, people also like to come here with their laptop. If you're looking for a nice, chill, not-too-crowded spot (can be rare in the village!), Citta is a good choice. -
Review from Stephan J.
This is a dive bar at it's best. Cheap food and beer with perhaps the best poutine in town. The service was good and it accomodates large groups with plenty of booths and tables. It is super casual and a great place for some drinks post skiing.

While Citta' is itself somewhat unremarkable as far as food and drink go, it's got a terrific patio with a perfect view of the village. This means people watching. And while the food is ok, the staff are terrific, and the view is great.
If you're looking for a nice, inexpensive après-ski hangout, Citta' is definitely the place to be... Anywhere that sells Big Rock by the jug is good in my books. -
Review from Allison F.
Came here for a quick lunch on a Saturday. We sat in the bar area and were told we could sit wherever we would like. Our waiter was a very close talker but he quickly took our drink orders and left us to decide on our meal.
I chose the chicken caesar wrap with poutine and my companion had a cheese pizza. My wrap was full of lettuce and a small portion of chicken but was tasty. The poutine was quite good, though definitely not authentic. The gravy was nice and the cheese was melty. My friend's pizza looked like it came out of a box from the freezer. Definitely not made in house.
The food wasn't bad and service was decent. For the price, I think I might recommend visiting somewhere else. -

My friends and I come here all the time for drinks and more drinks and more drinks! Don't really like their food but will come here again and again for DRINKS!

Review from Tam F.
When our train arrived in Whistler, we were advised we had 2.5 hours to peruse the Village. Sadly, by the time the bus got us from the train terminal to the Village itself, we had around 2 hours to peruse and have lunch with my in-laws who were kind enough to come up from Washington to meet us "just for lunch"!
There were lots of people in Whistler Village and sadly, most restaurants that appealed to us were only open for dinner or did not have a kid friendly option(our 10 year old nephew was with us too) and since I refused to do the Old Spaghetti Factory (bit mistake in retrospect), we ended up here as the menu looked somewhat promising to fit our needs.
We were seated outside, and our waitress SUCKED. I figured immediately, this was a place that did not depend what-so-ever on repeat business. Drinks were never refilled, water glasses left empty and in general, absolutely the WORST service we had during our entire time in Canada. My brother-in-law was quick to point out that she obviously "wasn't Canadian'!
We all ordered something different-Kevin a beef noodle bowl of some kind, sis-in law a veggie burger (that looked dry), bro-in law a pizza that was advertised as "Magherita" but really was a full on cheese pizza, and the nephew had spaghetti. I made the grave mistake of ordering nachos.
Now, these nachos should have been spectacular as they cost $17.50. Yes, I did say 17.50 for nachos. These nachos should have been made with specs of gold or something for the price and for the additional $3.50 for the guacamole I added on, these nachos should have kissed me is all the right places. Sadly, when these nachos arrived, they were awful. Tri-colored chips with a sprinkling of melted cheese a dollop of pico de gallo and a few scattered olives and scallions. On the side, I was given a small dip cup of what was the equivalent of Pace Picante Sauce and some really watery Costco quality guacamole. No beans, no meat-NADA.
So, I did what I do. I took one bite, and then didn't eat any more. No one wanted to taste them at the table and even my husband who hates leaving food behind said they were awful. Luckily when the waitress FINALLY came back to check on us, she asked if my nachos were "okay". When I advised they weren't, she took them off the bill (hence the 2 star review instead of 1).
So, next time, I might digress to the nephew's choice of restaurant and eat at a non-fast food chain as it would have been a safer and much cheaper bet.Comment from scott g. of Citta 11/10/2010

I give it top marks for the location for people watching. The beer was OK, the pizza we had was passable at best. I find very little to recommend this place other then sitting outside enjoying a beer and watching the people go by. However all that being said it is not a place I will look to go to again.

Drunk as hell and I wanna get ill so I go to a place where my homeboys chill...
Which sure as shit not this place.
I should have known by the sheer number of drunk 19 and 20 year olds that this wasn't the place for me. But pizza sounded sooooooo good.
Go up stairs and the waiter never comes. Ever. One finally does and sits down to count her tips.

Came here on a Friday evening for dinner. Cool server, good service, and no troubles finding a good spot to sit. The veggie burger was so good! It had great toppings (mushrooms, bell peppers, onions) and just tasted great! And I ordered a San Fran cobb salad, good proportion of ingredients and was a good size salad. I'd go again!

After a long day of Snowboarding, my boyfriend and decided to have a sitdown meal. We were looking for a light meal before heading back to Vancouver so we ordered:
1. Jalapeno and Crab Poppers w. Ranch Sauce
2. Chicken Fingers
3. Guiness
4. Caesars (Sunday Drink Special)
The Jalapeno Peppers were nice and hot, just the way they should be made. I didn't know the Chicken finger came with fries which was a good bonus and ended up being a more filling meal than expected (BONUS!) The chicken fingers come with either Honey Dijon Mustard (which I ordered and was delicious), or Ranch. My guess is all these foods are premade and all they have to do is heat it up but boy did they make it right. We were eating at about 3:30pm and the food literally came out in 5 minutes !!!!
The Guiness did not taste as good as it could have. My boyfriend said that the waitress poured it wrong but I thought it was okay... onely thing that it didn't seem cold enough. My caesar's was just right - good size, good spice and a slice of pickle to top it off.
Overall, it was a little pricey, but you eating in the heart of whistler village so you get what you pay for. I was still happy :) -

I guess places like this in the heart of the village don't really need to rely on repeat clientele.
We headed here last night after a long day on the mountain hoping for a fun environment to watch the mens junior gold medal game. Ambience there was lots of, with our little upstairs area repeatedly doing the wave and cheering collectively. Beer was reasonably priced at $16/pitcher. Granville Island Winter on tape was a nice touch. Pitchers weren't as full as they ought to have been... When I asked if we could have no olives in our 7 layer dip, I was told: "No, we can't- it's made in the morning and the kitchen is too busy to make it specially now." So basically you just said: Your food won't be fresh and we don't have time to accommodate you...
I recommend side stepping the food but the atmosphere on game nights is decent at Citta. -

Citta is your typical Whistler pub. A grungy, wooden interior gives off a stale beer and pub food smell, but one that isn't a deterrent.
My friend and I came here for dinner one night. We headed up the stairs, away from the rowdy downstairs crowd, and turned right at the landing and walked into a quaint smaller room with quite a few tables, chairs, and booths.
The service here was good, again, typical Whistler service, young people there for the good times rather than the career direction.
I ate a burger, which was very delicious, and my friend had butter chicken. She ate the whole thing and then some, and she's usually not a big eater so I'm guessing she highly enjoyed her meal.
I enjoyed Citta, but would probably head to Whistler Brewpub when in search of a pub-style restaurant next time I'm in Whistler. -

Whistler, BC
This place used to be cool - in 1990. I'm not so sure now. It's now a place we go when we can't get in anywhere else.
Beer is average and the food is not very memorable. I had veggie burgers the last few times here, but I can't really remember what they tasted like.
The main level and the patio are fairly cramped. The upstairs is more spacious and have an okay view of the village square. I'm not sure why longtime locals wanted to save this place when the landlord wanted to not renew their lease. -

Served an "IPA" that tasted like Budweiser, asked the waiter about it and he said it wasn't a very hoppy IPA. Didn't bother to ask if we'd like something else.

Chips, pase picante salza, guacamole from a bag and crappy sour cream for $10!

Sitting down at a table for the 3 of us and a waitress comes up and tells us we can't sit there. End up finding another seat and waiting around for our waiter for at least 15 minutes. He ended up lagging on everything.

The food was pretty decent. I liked my Tuna melt and everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. -

Atmosphere:
AWESOME! I love the outside patio, if you are fortunate enough to get a seat. I spent about 2 hours on the outdoor patio facing the Village Square during the Olympics while watching Jacobellis try to get Gold for Team USA (sad panda....).
Service:
I'll give them a 'get out of jail free' card on this one, since it was the Olympics and they were super busy. Took a while to get the menu's, take our order, get our food, etc. However, most days they are fine in this category.
Food:
Funny story....this place calls itself a bistro. End story.
Crap. Avoid. Go on a beer diet. The cheese pizza was pretty much Boboli crust, a smathering of what tasted like Tomato Paste, and what could have passed as American Kraft singles for cheese....I'm not knocking Kraft singles, I love me a good grilled cheese sandwich...but the pizza was terrible.
I went with the Chicken Quesadilla believing that it was almost impossible to screw one of these up. Damnit Whistler, you are batting 0/2 on sit down restaurants right now...what happened? Oh yeh, the Olympics. The chicken, if you could find any, was very sparce and had no marinade on it. The cheese was probably Kraft single cheese torn up, and the Quesadilla itself was very 'empty.' The tortilla was super soggy, probably from the greasy pan it was fried in. It was really bad.
They don't serve as many beers at this place as they used to, I've heard varying reasons for it but nothing conclusive. Either way, they have beer, it's arguably the best location for an outdoor patio, and beer = fun. So, I have had my share of fun times here, but don't come here hungry.
Price:
Continuing the disappointing trend in Whistler, you pay way too much for food that sucks.
Bottom Line:
Citta's raison d'etre is its fortunately located patio. The only reason it still exists is because of beer. -

Came here after an awful experience at Earls.....and left happy :)
We were seated right away at a table upstairs....happy, happy! Our server was fantastic....witty.....remembered our orders without writing them down (love that!) and came back numerous times to see if we needed anything even though the place was jam packed.
I got a salad....added salmon....it was exactly what I wanted...straight forward....no fuss and yummy...yay! Boys got burgers, bison and beef and a Cajun chicken sandwich.....they were all pleased and liked that you can sub salad for fries.
It was def a loud boisterous crowd......but exactly what you would expect with the Olympics going on.
Perfect place for some polished pub-grub....warm and festive atmosphere.....friendly and accommodating.
We came back later in the week to enjoy some early afternoon Caesars....the drinks not the salads.....and again, everything was yay! -

It's pretty bad when you can't complain to a manager about the terrible service because HE is the one that is treating the customers poorly! We had a terrible experience at this restaurant when we were in town visiting last month. 3 of us had stopped in at this pub and had some friends coming to join us so we had saved an extra table for them as they were on their way. The large, overweight and clearly power tripping manager however, came over to our table and informed us that his restaurant was far too busy for us to hold a table (it wasn't) and that we had 3 minutes to call our friends to arrive and meet us or he would have to take it away.
Aside from this rude welcoming we were given by this man we had no problem with his request. We have all worked in the service industry at one point or another and although this restaurant wasn't even close to as busy as this man was making out to be (there were a few other empty tables within my line of sight even) we agreed. I did however ask that when he came back in our "3 minute limit" and our party was still not here, if he could take the other empty table that was next to us first if he still needed a table as it had 2 ladies sitting at a 4 seater, before taking the one we were saving for our friends.
This apparently set him off - and we were shocked when he whipped around and literally took the table from us right away as he "didn't need to be chirped at". Now I am a woman in my 30's - I was raised properly and am NOT the kind of person to ever be rude to anyone let alone "chirp" someone. My boyfriend however, who had been sitting quietly throughout this whole debacle had finally had enough of the manner in which this "manager" was addressing us as he was not only extremely rude but VERY condescending throughout this whole debacle and felt that as paying customers we did NOT need to put up with that kind of treatment so he told him that was it, we were leaving and to go get us the bill.
Our server, and 2 other staff members came up to us after this large man left and apologized for his behavior telling us that he had been treating customers like that all night and that they were very, very sorry. Excellent for your business reputation I'm sure. Isn't the manager supposed to be the one making sure that customer service is enforced? If he isn't, then who the heck is??
The real clincher was when we left the pub - the big line up of people that he had previously told us was waiting at the door to get in was actually ONLY made up of our group of friends that we had been waiting for in the first place! He wasn't letting them in even though they had told him that they had friends with a table waiting for them inside!
Unbelievable! I'm glad we took our business somewhere else but it still put a momentary damper on our evening. We definitely won't ever be going back - at least as long as that "manager" runs the place. Pathetic -

This is a great place to grub down after skiing and pre going out. I have tried all kinds of food from here, pizza, hummus, etc, and all was tasty. Service is quick and will make sure you have a drink at all times. I am docking a star for them charging two bucks for a pickle. For reals.

I was here for the Olympics, and they straight up told me that they were bought out by the sponsors and now only offer the 3 big crappy beers. Totally disappointing, as they have had great beer in the past!

During my 2 day whistler trip, best food i had was here (veggie burger meal, lunchtime). It was either because i was VERY hungry, or the food was VERY good or both, but it was surely my favorite meal of the 2 days i was there. Like others have said, it does have a great view of the village for people watching as well.

I had just arrived into Whistler and was hurting for some food. The village is full of places that will put a huge hole through your wallet. I wanted something quick, easy and tasty. If you can stand the frat-like crowd and drunken revelry (or maybe that's what you're looking for), it's worth getting dinner here. I thought the butter chicken and french onion soup were good, especially considering their prices.

I USED to like Citta. It's fun to grab a drink here. The crowd is usually pretty cool, too. However, our last trip left such a bad taste in my mouth about it. We went in to have a couple beers and ordered 2 jugs. Another guy in our group wanted to drink vodka instead, so he had 2 vodkas. When our bill came, we were charged for 2 vodkas and 4 jugs. After asking the waitress, Logan (who we originally thought was cool), she got pissed and asked if we were sure we only had 2 jugs. "Yes, we are sure." So she took ONE jug off the bill. Way to blow your tip.
