This was the BEST hair experience I have ever had! The salon is very clean, the staff are extremely professional. Every person who entered while I was there left happy (and looking spectacular). They really listen to their clients .

Kim did my hair and Affie my make-up. I learned so much from them about how to keep my new style looking great. They made me feel young and beautiful - I am truly grateful for the experience.

The products they use for colour are organic and ammonia free, which is great for the environment and also for people with sensitive skin (like me!).

I urge anyone reading this to at least visit the salon and speak to Antonella or Kim for a consultation. You will be SO glad you did!

I had to take my kids (6 years old and 18 months) for my second appointment - the entire staff was very accommodating with them. They gave them snacks and talked to them. My kids were also crazy about Taro, the little black pup of the salon. Although I like to be pampered without the kids around, I would be confident that we would all be welcomed if I had to bring them again.

Citrus Hair Salon was also voted one of the top three hair salons in downtown Vancouver in the annual STARS OF VANCOUVER Reader's Choice Awards.

WOW!  This is an amazing salon!  I just got hair extensions by Deidre Holtby and I have never looked better!  The staff were friendly, they offered me crackers and cheese, tea and cookies...but seriously, I had a horrific experience two weeks earlier at Ocean Breeze Spa with Christine Song.  She did the WORST hair extenions and three days later I had them taken out.  I lost $1100.  Hair extensions by Christine Song: $1700.  Hair Extensions by Deidre Holtby: Priceless.

I am new to town looking for a new hairstylist that works with extensions so I went to 2 different places for consultations, one being this place.

    Which one would you pick?

Experience #1 : Citrus Salon. They were so professional. I walked in to be greeted by a smiling face even though I interrupted what ever she was up to on the computer. They offered me an array of beverages while they showed me where I could sit to wait. They brought me tea, with a biscotti while I looked briefly at a magazine, and asked if they could take my jacket for me. About 3 min. later they gave me a professional consultation and wrote everything down for me, then re-wrote it with a total without me asking because it was a tad messy. They included what each price was for, and explained who was going to be doing what.
    Total time 17 min.

Experience #2: Avant Garde. I walked in to a girl sitting there with her head down staring at the ground. After 10 sec. she greeted me. I told her I was there to see Christine, and then she took off. I just stood there. She came back, said she'd be a min. I just stood there not sure what to do. No place to sit and wait I guess. After an awkward 1 min. Christine came to get me and rushed me into her chair in between clients. (BTW I had called the day before and she had told me just to call her 1/2 and hour prior to me showing up, which is what I did, to ensure she was prepared for me). She couldn't remember who I was because she had so many calls, she told me. She rushed me to tell her what I would like. I told her I would like to know how much it would cost to do my extensions. She rushingly scratched some #'s down on a post it note,  and then I was confused asked her a question about how much tax is, because I'm not from here, and she snapped at me, that I could pay cash for this and not for that, making me more confused, then told me she was really busy so I would just have to estimate the chicken scratches she put down and figure it out myself.
    Total time. 14 min.

I plan on spending at least $1000 on my 1st visit and then every 4-5 weeks after that I'll be spending at least $200, which is about what I was spending in San Diego. You would think, taking 3 extra min. and having some courtesy and professionalism would be worth that, no?

I guess Christine, and/or Avant Garde has enough clients they just don't need any new ones.

I called Citrus and thanked them for such a pleasant experience and told them how professional they are, what they did to make me feel special and booked my next appointment with them. ;-))

I got a haircut at Citrus through a Wag Jag coupon I bought. I'm happy enough with my haircut, but I think the girl took a little too much length off. She didn't really listen to what I wanted (she showed me how long it would be, and it was one of those classic situations of it ending up shorter than they said). Again, my hair does look good, but she didn't listen and although she was conversational, she didn't seem very genuine in her personable approach. I guess long story short is it felt just a little faked. It was busy in there, though, and everyone was getting their hair coloured -- so I believe it when I read they're famous for their hair colouring skills!

I came here through a WagJag coupon. I had Dimitra as my stylist, chosen by the person who took the appointment. It's my first time coming to the salon, which is small and cosy in decor. Dimitra spent 1hr washing, massaging and cutting my hair. I didn't have any special needs and strong opinions on what I wanted my hair to look like. I left the details all in Dimitra's hands. She listened to my thoughts and made according suggestions. The salon appeared to be busy, with clients coming and going. Dimitra was great, but overall I didn't get the feeling of warmth from the other stylists working at the salon. However, I do recommend Dimitra if you want to get a great haircut and conversation.
