Review from Alex P.
My fiance and I are in Fernie for the holidays (visiting family) and I wanted to try something new for lunch.
Everything on their menu sounds fantastic, and I was having a hard time choosing between a couple of the options. Our waitress was helpful in the decision process, and I went with the mac and cheese.
I like my mac and cheese on the thicker side, being mostly comprised of well, cheese! So many restaurants have a sauce that is heavily cream-based, but Cincott got it right. The sauce was sharp and stringy and cheesy and amazing! The bread crumbs on top seemed to be from a seed bread or something, they had a nice flavor and texture. This was the best mac and cheese I've had in a restaurant by far. My boyfriend got a quesadilla and soup and he was also very surprised (at the amount of flavor) and extremely satisfied.
For a picky eater this place is also wonderful, there are a lot of substitution options and flexibility within the listed items. For me, there were many options straight off the menu which is rare (and exciting).
I asked what kind of bread the bread crumbs were made from and someone in the back told me it was just a mixture of different kinds of bread. She also asked if I did or didn't like it, which I thought was nice; my feedback seemed appreciated.
The atmosphere is cozy but the place isn't too crowded or noisy. Everything looked clean, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everyone was friendly. I will definitely be back many times in the future!! -

We came here by default... how shameful ! I'm so happy we found the Market and Cafe, as it was the perfect Fernie flavour ! The decor: cottage. (no, not Martha St. cottage!) So cute inside and a bench out front.
I just love old wood burning stoves that serve as a condiments display. The wall reveals some history. Literally. (or is that a faux finish?-not sure and I usually am.)
Many breaky choices including Organic Eggs and local coffee. Fresh baked goodies flowing out from the kitchen.
This is also a market selling organic and specialty foods.
We forgot to ask about the RED Banana's -doh!Listed in: West to East and back.

Was highly recommended so I took my sister and her family for coffee and muffins.(5 adults and 5 kids). We were the only people there and it was a chilly 7 degree morning. We asked if we could close the door and they said NO, then after paying 60.00 for coffee, small hot chocolates and 3 muffins we were treated so rudely! I was so disappointed! The coffee was good but no better than freshies and our kids didn't even like the banana choc chip muffins. Cute atmosphere just can't make up for treating your customers badly. How sad to see!

We stopped in on our way to Cranbrook to grab a coffee and a sandwich. I asked for an Americano with a double shot. It was weak, so i had to go back and get more espresso. The gentleman in front of me was asking for 2 lattes, when he asked the price, he changed his mind for two coffees. When he found out how much it was, he told the girl that he couldn't justify the price, she told they served coffee at the Husky. I asked for two more shots, which put my Americano at $5. She was complaining to another girl about the last customer not wanting to pay $3 for a cup of coffee. Even if i wanted to let them know i wasn't impressed with their coffee, the attitude behind the counter said I wasn't leaving satisfied, so why bother? My girlfriend was third in line to order (a sandwich) and we waited almost 10 minutes before we left, without ordering. The decor may have been rustic, eclectic or cute its hard to remember because of the pretentious attitude towards a customer, the painfully slow service and the expensive, organic or fair traded coffee. Next time I'll wait for the Starbucks, that way if it's not right, they'll fix it.
