Great Cigars! Great Atmoshpere and fantastic little place to just chill out and people watch and just take in Old Town! I was here yesterday and had a nice Davidoff cigar the 4000 and really enjoyed it! Danny is a great guy and I'm glad I went here and checked it out, i'll be back soon!

    Good Cabernet wine too!!!

Churchill's was my favorite lounge while visiting San Diego. While the cigar selection was the smallest of all the other lounges, the selection here was the best. The humidor wasn't the standard walk in, it was actually more reminiscent of how beer is held in convenience stores... more like a cooler. As for prices, I found them to be pretty decent. There were a number of sales going on during the time that I visited but I went with the 3 Tatuaje Havana VI's for $20. They also sold a lot of accessories.

While the lounge offered both indoor/outdoor smoking areas, the inside was basically three seats at the bar. Because their located right in the heart of Old Town however, the view from the patio was great! It really made for awesome people watching. An outdoor patio is exactly what you want when you have location and weather on your side, albeit a bit small, but I went on a Tuesday night so seating was plentiful.

The bar here was beer and wine only but the selection was enormous! Something you'd expect to see at a restaurant. Overall I  give Churchills  4 out of 5 stars. Size is the only thing holding this place back. Other than that, great selection, nice prices, awesome location, and more than enough neighboring shops and restaurants to make this lounge a nice before and after affair.

    THIS PLACE ROCKS!!

You have to check this place out..

This is the best cigar lounge I have ever been to. The service is stupendous.. When you walk in the place your greeted with a warm welcome from everyone. The staff is great, they are eager to help you..
The owner Danny is wonderful and always helps you out with a smile. The entire staff is of fine quality.
The outside patio is relaxing. You can check out the game on the huge TV outside. If you ask the staff for the remote to the TV they will let you watch what you want.

Great beer and a variety of nonalcoholic drinks. great prices on cigars and a HUGE SELECTION OF CIGARS. You can always find what your looking for. As far as the other morons that wrote mediocre reviews, your out of your mind succa. This place should always get a five star review.

BEST CIGAR LOUNGE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO....
    SO RELAXING..

I'm so glad the Churchill Cigar Lounge exist.  For if it didn't; men like me wouldn't have a place to sit while we enjoyed the sunshine sipping on beer or wine with a good stogie in the other hand, all while waiting on a woman (who's shopping of course).

But seriously.  This place is really cool.  They have a nice selection of cigars at a reasonable price and some really fine wines & beers to choose from.

When my boyfriend and I are in San Diego, we love to come to this little gem in Old Town San Diego!

It's a cozy cigar bar and meets the needs for both myself and the boyfriend. He gets to enjoy his choice of cigars (they have a large Davidoff selection), while I get to sip on some yummy wine and enjoy the perfect SD weather.

The company is always nice. The other customers as well as the employees are very welcoming and you feel comfortable right away!

It's a great place to check out if you like good cigars, great wine, and even better company!

I hate to write a bad review, but this place deserves it. In fairness, the first employee I encountered was quite nice & courteous. I proceeded to ask a question to one the regular patrons, but was meant with a "Fukc you". I waited for this person to finish speaking to his friends, and told him I did not appreciate the attitude and that it was uncalled for.

As soon as I stated such, another employee came up to me and told me to "Get the Fukc out of here or I'll kick your ass". He then proceeded to threaten me two times afterward. Needless to say, I was shocked & caught off guard by this behavior. I proceeded to walk out & called the police as he had threatened me with assault. He then came out to have a cigar & I informed him of the situation, only to be met with smug disregard for my concern.

I then carefully walked around the establishiment, being sure to remain on the public sidewalk to inform him I would press charges, if necessary. He then became irate & came within an inch of my face to threaten to "bury me 6 feet under". I told him this was unacceptable and that he would have to answer to the police.

I respect the right for any business to tell customer's to leave, under any circumstances, and equally so, respect his freedom of speech. However, threatening a customer with physical violence three times & eventually threatening to kill me was uncalled for, to put it lightly.

I will proceed to contact management regarding this incident, as well as a local district attorney, while filing a formal police report & contacting my attorney.

Up to this point, I had a lovely evening, at the four prior establishments I happened to come upon. I would not go as far as to say this ruined my night, but I will definitely not be coming back here again, ever. And, given what had transpired, will pursue every legal avenue possible to hold this individual accountable for his actions.

Bottom line: I would not feel safe at this establishment, as of the one employees is violent and threatened to kill me while I was trying to be as polite & diplomatic as possible, over a trivial & understandable disagreement with a regular.

One of my favorite things to do with The Boy is to wander around Old Town like tourists. We both grew up here, both attended the fourth-grade "Old Town Week" in which we learned about the history of this tourist-y mecca, and yet, we still love to take a stroll down San Diego Avenue every so often.

The Boy has recently picked up a fondness for cigars. Neither of us knows the first thing about what's good and what's not, or what nuances to look for, or what's a good price. I'm kicking myself for not remembering her name, but each time we've been, the bartender (cigartender?) has been more than patient with us. We shamefacedly explained on our first visit that we were, um, "novice smokers." She took the time to explain the different types (in the shell of a very small nut) and recommended a few that were well within what we perceived to be a reasonable price range. I appreciated that she didn't just grab a pack of grape-flavored Swisher Sweets and send us on our way. (Sarcastic bitch that I am, that's probably what I would have done.)

Churchill has a smallish patio showing sports events (volume muted), which provides great people-watching. It's tucked behind a larger building, so it's not as drafty as some of the other Old Town patios can be. The wine list is good (not great), maybe a bit heavy on the zinfandels (but then, what wine bar isn't these days?) They also have a good selection of rotating craft beers, a few of which are on draft. Major props to the bartender for actually pouring a proper Delirium...in a wide glass, with two inches of head. Perfect.

I'm still not a major cigar person, but The Boy loves it, and I love anywhere I can sit with a glass of wine and watch the crowds roll by, so this is definitely one of the places I think you'll be able to find us from now on.

Hands down one of the friendliest, well stocked cigar bars ever. Went there a few days ago and came back each day of my trip.Steve greets you with a handshake and a smile and offered up a few awesome sticks. The patio is a bit tight but there is a great beer selection and Steve took awesome care of everybody on the deck, cool guy.

Came here with my cigar aficionado Hubby. I've been to several cigar lounges and this one has to be on the top of my list. Ann and Dave (hope I got their names right) are so friendly and knowledgeable. Churchill has a huge selection of stogies, and offers wine and beer. If you're feeling coffee, there is a shop right next door. There's a decent amount of outdoor seating (and a few of bar stools inside) and you can't beat the fact that they're located in the historical Old Town San Diego. I loved sitting outside in the beautiful SD weather and enjoying a glass of wine and cigar.

I definitely want to come back - perhaps our next date night, we'll be back. Oh yeah, points for having the Tatuaje cigars in stock. See you soon, Churchill!

This place is an oddity. It is a wine bar and a cigar lounge, sort of, but really doesn't do either very well.  They inherited the Hemingway's crowd of regulars when that place closed. They sit and drink overpriced Chimay ale all night and sneer at people they don't know. The guy who runs the place and who seems to live there caters to his regulars and could not give a toss about anyone else.

I used to think it was just me - the Indian with long hair and the Hublot watch which I would think this guy would notice. Not so. I have had very white government contractors who stay at nearby hotels tell me they were also ignored by the proprietor.

Cigar selection is above average but not great.  Wine selection is skimpy. Beer selection is pretty much limited to Chimay. It is all overpriced.

As a dual citizen of an indigenous nation in a neighboring country I can buy, possess and smoke the "real" cigars and I enjoy walking by the outdoor bullpen with one just so someone can get a whiff and ask me about it. Hey, I enjoy tormenting people. I even walked inside once when the proprietor smelled my real Bolivar and wanted me to tokenize the joint for a moment. He did not realize he had ignored me on previous passes by the place.

I'll be blunt and say this place has a clique system that puts a gay bar to shame. With an almost all male clientele all they need is a Friday night drag show and they could really confuse the tourists. The proprietor and the sneering clientele have a symbiotic relationship going and they don't seem to need anyone else to participate. Making this a private club with a big Keep Out sign might be an option, but it is funny to see two dollar millionaires at play. I'll give it two stars for the unintended entertainment value.

A cigar bar:  one of the two places in the world where a 15 to 1 guy/girl ratio is OK. (The other, of course, is german porn).

I like Churchill's for several reasons: several craft brews, good wines and great cigars - it's like an east coast smoking club done so-cal style.

It's not cheap - last time I was there my bill was $70.  And that was just me.  It's also pretty small, maybe 8 tables packed together.  But on a warm evening or lazy afternoon, this place is great.

Churchill is just a few freeway exits north on I-5 from downtown San Diego and minutes from the airport.  A contrast from Racine & Laramie, which is nostalgic and historic, Churchill is modern and current in comparison.

Located at the far south end of Town, this lounge offers a great atmosphere with a casual patio for enjoying some quality beer or wine with a fine select cigar. http://www.yelp.com/bi... The covered patio can get crowded at times since many have figured out that this is a great place to unwind after work or checking out the flat screen tv. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

A friendly employee gave me some recommended pairings of cigar and beverage to optimize the experience.  http://www.yelp.com/bi... You may be a cigar novice like me, or just want to try something new to expand your palette, either way, their helpful associates are available.

If you just got off the plane and/or simply need a good outdoor cigar lounge, Churchill is your place.

    A great time.
Looking for a more relaxed night out than a night at a bar,my good friend and I ended up at Churchill's after eating at one of the many fine eateries of Old Town San Diego.
This is a small place so they have expanded to an outside patio where they have a nice sized HDTV to view your favorite sporting event while enjoying your favorite cigar. They have a pretty good selection of beer and wine at the bar, and if you get hungry there is a shop next door that will bring you an sandwich.
What more could you ask for.

I finally got to enjoy some of my freshly shipped cigars here at the Churchill Cigar Lounge. It's in the heart of Old Town, so it may take awhile in finding parking, but some side streets should offer some solace.

It's small cigar and wine bar, even smaller in the inside. A couple of tables and maybe 1 or 2 chairs inside. Maybe 15 or so seats out in the patio. Smoke inside or outside, it's up to you. I chose to sit outside since the big tv is out there and it was a nice cool night so you get to enjoy the view and and a nice breeze on this particular evening.

I enjoyed my cigar with a big bottle of Chimay. Nice and refreshing. Pretty expensive though at $17 but it took me awhile anyway to finish both the cigar and the bottle (about 25 ounces) so $17 is really not that bad.

They have lots and lots of cigars for sale, pretty high quality stuff too.

I'm not a pro at cigars, but when you're on vacay and you want to unwind and relax, a nice cigar is in order.

I Yelped this place and it was a toss up between Churchills and the other cigar shop not too far away.

When you're a novice, you're always intimidated as you walk into a cigar shop the first time. This place had an outdoor smoking patio with like 20 guys and 1 gal. Yes, intimidating. I like my cigars mild and I usually go for the Macanudos...sorry, this place didn't have Macs. What? Why not?

I think I'll try and find something I can buy online and mailed to me. This way when I go on vacation or a nice round of golf, I'll have a Mac ready!

So my whole family decided to visit me this weekend and to my biggest surprise we decided to spend an evening in Old Town. I do love my family to death yet I happen to be the only cousin that is single besides my younger cousins who are still in high school. In my Mexican family, there is something inherently wrong if you're in your late 20's and without kids and marriage. Being the artist of the family, I always played by a little different set of rules.
As my whole family waited outside of the Old Town Mexican Cafe I decided to dodge my aunts and grandmas continual barrage of questions like, "Why aren't you settling down yet?", to the Churchill Cigar Lounge next door.

I figured I had about an hour to kill before our family got seated in the restaurant, what better to do then to smoke a nice fat cigar. Im normally not a cigar person but the consistent family interrogation on my life's decision's led me to do otherwise. And it was worth it.

So I walked into the small cosy shop and I had 2 requests, something that was small and flavorful. The old man in the shop was very helpful and kind. He said he knew a cigar that would do the trick so he reached in th gigantic cedar cabinet and had me sniff this cigar(damn I wish I remembered the name of it). I was sold. He cut the tip and I carried the treasure to secret place behind this tourist shop where I could sneak a few puffs in privacy.

40 minutes later I find myself laying on this park bench right in front of this Old Town gift shop where I was completely out of tune with the bustling tourists and their kids on leashes running all around me. As I smoked the cigar all I could hear was the faint and gentle tap of the mariachi music in the background and I couldn't help but look up and notice the serene half lit moon in the twighlight sky. Then my brother came out of nowhere and told me that the whole family was inside the restaurant already starting on desert. As I got up from the park bench I noticed a bunch of parents trying to stear their kids away from me like I was some homeless person. As humiliating as that was, it was well worth the temporary pause. I could use that more often.

We first came here because the person I was with needed to make a purchase of about a dozen different cigars.

Variety of cigars was about 100+.

Although I generally avoid smoking cigars and have limited knowledge in this area, I was thoroughly impressed by their craft beer selection.

Wine options were equally as impressive.

There was a patio for patrons to indulge in the cigars, beer, and/or wine they purchase at the shop.

So we decided we would come back shortly to enjoy some of the store's offerings on the patio, which appeared to seat approximately two dozen people and had a flat screen tv, which appeared to tend to play sports.

I was especially excited because during the first visit I noticed they were offering two brews that I particularly appreciate - McChouffe as well as Kwak (in the traditional Kwak glass).

We came back about a week or later.

The people with me enjoyed their cigars and drinks.

I was slightly disappointed as they were out of both McChouffe and Kwak at the time.
Instead, settled for the St Bernardus Abt 12, which in reality is an amazing Abbey ale, it was just that I had my brew sights set for McChouffe and Kwak before arriving.

Since they were out of Kwak, the server asked if I would like the St Bernardus Abt 12 in the Kwak glass. Although Belgians would certainly frown upon it, I took her up on the offer and she brought out this delicious Abbey ale in the Kwak glassware.

After the Abbey ale, felt like switching over to wine.

In terms of wine, lately I have been trying to explore more zins; so opted for a glass of XYZin. It was fairly nice for the price.

After a glass of XYZin, switched back over to beer. However, needed to make a smooth transition from wine to beer so went with a Kriek served in the traditional Lindemans glassware.

Several higher end wines also available. One particularly notable wine listed on the menu - Opus One.

Light eats and desserts available from the café next door (see photos).

Since the cigar shop does not offer anything to eat it was nice to have to option of getting some quick bites delivered from the café next door to our table in the patio of the cigar lounge.

Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant and the drink offerings were fairly impressive, despite the unavailability of Kwak and McChouffe at the time.

This is currently the nicest place to hang out with a cigar and alcoholic beverage in San Diego that I know of.  Their selection of cigars isn't huge, but it is well selected.  They have your high end brands like Padron ($20+), and your well priced brands as well like La Gloria Cubana and Oliva (10+).  Prices are elevated, but not absurd.  The humidor keeps the cigars in good shape.  They also have private humidor boxes available for your stash.

The place stands out for it's patrons.  There are always 10 or 20 people there, many of them regulars.  The customers are nice and talkative.  They like to talk cigars and whatever else is on their minds or yours.

The covered patio area is fantastic and provides great natural ventilation.  The wicker furniture is acceptable and not uncomfortable.  There are a coupe TVs that may have a game on, you can suggest what you would like to be on (a game or a particular show) and you will probably get your wish.  The volume is moderate, and doesn't overwhelm the atmosphere as in a sports bar.

There isn't an alternative to the patio other than a tiny bar where transactions take place.   Sometimes I like a nice lounge with leather couches and the like as well, so Churchill Cigar Lounge doesn't fit every occasion.  Also, their cigar selection is overwhelmed by a few brands, and I think they could diversify I little.  For these reasons it is not The Greatest Cigar Bar Of All Time. I'm still looking for that.  But it is a damn good little joint, and I am greatly pleased to have it.

Whether before or after an enlivening walk around Old Town Diego, a stop at Churchill for cigars and brews comes highly suggested. For the space they have, they've made the most of the selections they offer.

My brother and I bought Avo Maduros and a New Castle each, enjoying the outdoor ambiance as we smoked and drank. The people who populate the patio often have their own conversations to bring, and each can be engaged to add to the experience. Those who run the cigar and wine bar have a knowledge of cigars and can quickly help locate what you're looking for in the humidor.

Just as Old Town Diego is the shining star of San Diego, Churchill is the shining star of Old Town Diego.

I returned to one of my favorite smoke haunts  last night, Churchill's. When I came in,  I yelled out the same thing Al Pacino yells out  in Glengary  Glenross when he sees an awfully weak lead in his gravelly voice "Patel!?"....as in Rocky Patel. He was hanging out at Churchill's, moving a new line of cigars.  He was assisted by this  rather tall, chesty but distinguished looking blonde lady. She was very attentive to my friend and me . She said we were "adorable".....think she meant it? Me neither. She just wanted to move some cigars. I can respect that.
I love this joint. It's a throwback to a rat-pack mentality where men are men and dames are dames. Word.

Went here for the first time tonight. I have to say I enjoyed it very much. I'm definitely not a cigar expert and shamelessly admitted it, but the staff is very friendly and unpretentious and helped us pick one out. I settled on a flavored cigar flavored with vanilla. The space is small but the outside patio is very nice with a good amount of tables, heat lamps and a TV. It was full on a Sunday night with people watching the game.

They had a very nice beer and wine selection and I decided to try their flavored lambic beers. The staff gave me a sample of a Black Currant lambic which I loved and decided to order. The staff is very quick to give you samples of things and make sure you like what you're getting. Everything is relatively reasonable really, and I would most certainly return again! I love how close it is to my house.

It was either hit up a hookah lounge, or try out a cigar spot...COULDN"T HAVE MADE A BETTER DECISION!

I have not once smoked a cigar...not much of a smoker in general, but I like trying new things. I had SUCH a good time!

To start off, Old Town is way too under rated as a place to hang in San Diego...it is definitely a cool place to spend an evening. Most people just come down to eat, and then take off...I think you're missing out on some great spots.

My buddy has been wanting to check this place out, so we hit it up. If you don't know what you're doing in a place like this (like me), you just ask. I told them I've never smoked a cigar, and asked them to suggest something for me. I kept the price fairly low ($10) for my first one. Cigars range from $3 to way more than I'll ever spend.

Great selection on tap. Tons of different wine. Couple of spots to smoke inside, but the patio is just beautiful! Weather was gorgeous, the atmosphere just right, the crowd was real cool. I guess some of the regulars bring movies in and watch it outside (playing tonight was Taken, then followed be Iron Man).

Danny, who is the owner, is very friendly and INCREDIBLY knowledgeable on cigars. He makes his rounds and talks with the guests...thats always a plus in a small establishment when the owner is mingling. Fri and Sat they are open until midnight. You really can't ask for a better night!

This is definitely a spot I will be returning to!

    Marwan doesn't lie.

Pac and I found ourselves at this lil cigar lounge after dinner at Cafe Coyote down the street from there. The older lady behind the counter was super cool and helpful. She gave us all sorts of suggestions for wine. I eventually settled on a white wine that she recommended. Pac tried a glass of Merlot but not before enjoying a cigar of course. At first we sat behind the counter which was stacked with bottles and bottles of wines galore.

Eventually we made our way outside to the lil patio area to the side. There were about 8 tables out there watching Rocky on a big screen tv! Totally random but everyone was really welcoming and conversational. Surprisingly enough there was an equal amount of girls as there were guys there. I guess it makes sense, you have the cigars for the guys and the wine for the gals. Something that threw us for a loop was that there was this PRIEST there sitting outside drinking a brewsky! (I forgot to mention they also offer a bunch of beers on tap). We were shocked! He was wearing the actual priest garb with the white collar. I didn't know priests even drank?! (Well, besides the communion wine at mass of course). I'll have to look into that.

Anyways, we had to leave at 10 though because the lady who worked there told us this wealthy lawyer who lives directly across the street has made numerous complaints about the noise level which has resulted in them having crappy closing hours. I'm just glad we got to check it out at least for a bit! We will definitely go back next time we are in SD!

We were in old town, and walking by, decided to check this out.

The good....what a GREAT outdoor patio.  LOVE it.  In true mancave fashion, the final four was on, and a bunch of guys smoking bones watching Butler vs Michigan State....that's true mancave.

The pricing.  Sticks were priced exactly where they should be.  While the Cuban Cigar Factory is a GREAT lounge, their pricing should be matching these guys.

GOOD selection on tap.  Including Stella.  GOOD selection of wines.

The not so good... Selection kinda sucks.  REALLY small humidors, ergo, REALLY small selection.

Still, go for the outdoor patio.  NICE.

My bf and i stumbled upon Churchill one random night while driving through Old Town, and make it a point to get back whenever we have an evening out! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, even remembering our names! They have a great selection, even carrying my bf's fav: Glorietta Cubanas, serie r, no 5 which I can tell you are a challenge for us to find sometimes! The patio is a great spot to enjoy each other's company with a good beer and great smoke :)

This place is a nice little gem in, what I consider to be pedestrian, Old Town. My buddy used to live in Old Town and we would frequent this place on weekend nights for a nice relaxing smoke and some good drinks.

It's a very clean and well kept cigar bar with a fine selection of alcohol and cigars. With the risk of sounding sexist, they have plenty of things that would appeal to the ladies as well, my buddy's lady digs the flavored cigars, my wife digs the wine selection.

The outdoor patio gets crowded on weekend nights but it's small enough that it essentially turns into one big group of people on the patio. Which if you haven't picked up on from my reviews, I like conversing with other people if the atmosphere is conducive!

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, very capable of making informed recommendations. All in all a great spot if you are looking for something unique in old town or a gaslamp worthy cigar bar off the beaten path.

Finally got a chance to check this place out. After all of the really lofty ratings this place got, I was preparing myself to be let down as I appear to have higher standards than others that rate on Yelp.

I was not let down. From the courteous and helpful staff, to the large wine selection, to the incredible selection of cigars (all expertly humidified), Churchill Cigar Lounge is the place to go for a fine cigar experience in San Diego.

Small cigar bar with a huge variety of stogies. The beer selection is minimal, and a bit overpriced.

So I was in San Diego for a couple days for a work thing and hadn't been down there in a couple of years so I felt like exploring the city a bit. The hotel was near the Old Town district so I researched a few cigar lounges and finally settled on this one. Pretty good selection of cigars and a nice outdoor seating area with a good size tv. I got in early and watched a world cup game. Everyone seemed to know everyone which really makes this place feel very inviting.
The prices were pretty good and they had some good specials. The only reason I'm taking a star off is because the person who cut my cigar cut way too much off, maybe she was new or something.

Always a great place for a good stoogie and good conversation.  John and Danny are the best in the service industry and always willing to offer suggestions for wine and cigar selections.

You can always come and drink, watch sports, or the crowds as they walk down the street, if you are not a cigar afficionado.

Ok, my husband got me to go with him to another one of these Cigar shops. However, I have to say I had a blast. There is a big Screen outside, and some little kid got hit in the face by the fountian. Great entertainment. Anyway, for a cigar shop, there are good people that hang out there, and the staff is very attentive and intelligent. (and no one tried to pick me up right next to my husband. (He's a big scary guy anyway)
Regardless, I had a very good time. (for a woman in a cigar shop.
