Review from Tina H.
This estate winery was one of the only wineries open during the week so if you're doing a wine tour, make sure to go on the weekends if you want to taste at all the nearby wineries (and have the alcohol capacity to do so). They are larger scales and when I went only one of the wines on the list was made on-site.
The wines were pretty good but nothing out of this world. If you like mid-range wines, this is a good spot for those, but nothing blew me away. They had unfortunately run out of some of the better ones to sample, including ice wine, which was quite disappointing as I wanted to try that one most of all. Took a bottle home of the tasty chardonnay.
The woman here was very friendly. She has lots of energy and went out of her way to help us confused and disoriented tourists! -
Review from Pam S.
When you're a passenger in a car, you notice those random signs more than the driver (in theory). One of things I noticed during my almost week as a tourist were all the signs for wineries. Wine? Usually my friend (although not always the next morning), I heard many of them call my name.
When driving up to Butchart Gardens, I noticed this place on the left, and mentioned it to my companion. We made a mental vino note to possibly stop on the way back.
Thankfully, unlike many other things, the mental note stuck. We stopped here after our flower visit, and were awed by the space. Open and airy, it would be a great place for a wedding.
The bar wasn't that full, and we were able to sit down right away. We had the choice between the 7 cool wines and the 3 super cool wines (I'm paraphrasing, I think it was premium and super premium). A little white, a lot of red, a decent amount of delicious. While I wasn't bowled over by all the wines, the super best reserved wine was my favorite. Coupled with some cheese and crackers, and it was a great way to spend an afternoon.
Definitely a post-garden stop, or a place to celebrate your marriage...if you're at that point.Listed in: Oh Canada...
