Well, it's that time of year again, which means that all costume, joke and gift shops alike are going to be packed nonstop. Chuckles was no exception to this.
I went in to find a beard and was immediately overwhelmed by all the people shoved into this tiny little store. Not only were there a lot of shoppers in the place, but there was a man standing at the entrance watching everyone come and go. Weird. Maybe it looked so cramped because of how much stuff they have in the place. There are so many different costumes and costume accessories that I could barely locate what I was looking for. On the other hand, because they do have so much to choose from, once I found the beard section, I could easily choose the most appropriate one! Nice!
The only thing that irked me a bit was that there are no returns or exchanges... everything is final sale. I suppose this makes sense because they don't want people returning the costumes after they've worn them, but you can't even return things that are still in the original packaging. Hopefully my boyfriend likes the beard, otherwise, there goes $15 I'll never see again. -

Located just a few blocks from both Chinook Mall and Value Village Chuckles is a convenient stop for all your Halloween needs. Chuckles rents and sells costumes for every style -from scary to sexy with their selection changing every year. Unfortunately, their prices can be a bit on the steep side so what I suggest is that you head over to the nearby Value Village and assemble the majority of your costume before heading to Chuckles to get the finishing touches (the gory makeup or the bright red fishnets).
Chuckles, as the name suggests, is also a joke shop and if you ever find yourself in need of a whoopee cushion or sneezing powder well now you know where to go. -

Chuckles Unlimited claims on their sign that every day is Halloween, and based on their massive collection of costumes, I have no doubt that they could outfit you with 365 different looks and then some. But they don't just carry costumes and masks and accessories and the like. They also have a vast selection of novelty gag gifts - perfect if you know someone getting up in years or if you've got a bachelorette party to attend.
So whether you're young or just young at heart, Chuckles Unlimited is sure to have something to tickle your funny bone. -

3.5 Stars. Small store. Good use of space. Change rooms. Good service. Security guard posted at the door. Lots of stuff inside. Quality of items vary. High end specialty items weak. Higher prices. Halloween costumes, in general, decidedly dark or sexualized. It is what it is. If you are looking for a higher quality costume that is not macabre, look elsewhere. Worth a look. The Superman costume is only $600.
