Chubby Noodle is my go-to spot when friends or family are in town. It is the epitome of a Yelp-y restaurant. It's a hole-in-the-wall, pop up restaurant inside of Amante. Excellent service, delicious food, and a fun atmosphere (plus, it doesn't hurt that there's a full bar at your disposal!)

I've tried almost everything on the menu, but my favorites are the poke, ceviche, fried chicken, and tacos. The poke is light and fresh, with just the right amount of garlic. The acid on the ceviche is perfect, and the portion size is great for an appetizer. I recommend ordering family style and sharing everything. So hard not to over-eat!

Super fun to hang out and eat/drink while cheering on the Giants or 49ers, or before heading over to Rogue Trivia!

Friggin Good Chicken...thats right they have probablly the best Organic Fried Chicken in the city.  Especially for $9 you get Strips or wings.  I like the Strips.  Their very generous with their portions as well, so you get value.  I love how the skin is a thin layer and when you bite it, its just juicy free range fowl...Mmm Mmm Mmm

Ahi-Tuna poke is also excellent. It's my second favorite.  Very tasty and yummy.

I've eaten here 4x now in the past month, because its one of the pleasant places to enjoy a meal after a long day of work and school.

They open late, and is inside a bar.

Only Con is that their cash only homie! I didnt like the Fried Rice and Garlic Noodles.  But Im looking forward to their Kimchee Hot Dog.

Chubby Noodle is a good spot for a good hearty meal.

Till another long Tuesday come my way, I'll be back at Chubby Noodle soon enough.

    What a pleasant surprise!!
After walking by Chubby Noodle several times, I finally tried the food here (Note: it is on the back of Amante (CASH only)). We ordered:
    1. Fried Chicken (Butter Milk Brined) - Yummmm
    2. Fried Chicken (Chinatown fried) - OK
    3. Spicy Garlic Noodles - Yummmm
    4. Red Miso Ramen - Alright

Conclusion: I will be back for more fried chicken and garlic noodles. I am a fan!

I love this new addition to the neighborhood because it offers something different. Thr food is very well done. I'm hooked on the ramen - flavorful broth with a touch of heat, well cooked meat and vegetables, heavenly egg yolk. The chicken strips, Asian fusion tacos and ceviche are also tasty. The food comes quickly and the servers are friendly. And you can enjoy it all while having a casual drink at the bar with the terrific Amantes bartenders.

We passed by on several occasion while dining in North Beach and so we finally got around to trying Chubby Noodle. It's a pop-up located inside a bar. Walk all the way to the kitchen window in the back to order before finding a seat at one of the cocktail tables or at the bar.

AHI TUNA POKE - served with the chinese-style chips that go with the chicken dish at chinese restaurants. I enjoyed this dish VERY MUCH!

Red miso ramen - was PLAIN, ORDINARY and nothing special. If you came to this place expecting good noodles, I would advise otherwise.

FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS - WONDERFUL, battered up with perfection and paired wonderfully well with the honey mustard style dipping sauce. YUM

Parking is ridiculously hard so good luck!

Late night quest for some good local pop up food.  I would say overall, success!  We had seen the sign for Chubby Noodle one night when waiting in line for Golden Boy and finally decided to come back and see what all the hype is about.

We followed what Yelp said...  Ahi Tuna Poke and the Red Miso Ramen.  The combo of my opinions on food left me with an overall 3 star review

Ahi Tuna Poke = 4 stars - Great concept!  A bowl of flavorful, fresh ahi tuna poke surrounded by shrimp chips.  SO DELICIOUS!  I couldn't stop eating them and we literally cleaned up every little last bit of tuna and shrimp chips.  They had the right amount of seasoning/sauce mixed in with the fresh tuna.  Every bite was a little piece of happiness.  I recommend everyone to get this, FOR SURE.

Miso Red Ramen = 2 stars - Honestly, I've had better and I'm pretty disappointed since the name of the place is CHUBBY NOODLE.  Noodles are too mushy/soft for my taste, the broth is not very tasty They do have some fresh veggies but not enough to push this review for the ramen any higher.  I don't know what it is....not a fan.

Chicken tenders - 3 stars and overall, GOOD!  The batter is seasoned perfectly, not too salty.  Crispy on the outside and the chicken is still juicy on the inside.  I liked the dipping sauce to go with the chicken tenders and I very much enjoyed the overall presentation and taste.  I would go back for this and grab a beer with some friends.

This place is definitely busy, even at 10pm on a Wed night.  Worth exploring if you have even the tiniest bit of curiosity!

Awesome little popup in an otherwise random North Beach bar. We ordered the Spicy Garlic Noodles, Korean Pork Tacos, Hawaiian Tuna Poke, Buttermilk Brined Chicken Wings, and a side of the housemade kimchi. Delicious! And really moderately priced considering the portions. I will definitely be back, there's so much more I wanted to try but not enough room in my stomach for just one sitting!

I ate here with my close friends and family as a late dinner. After you get over the fact that they do not sell chubby noodles there....

Tip#1 you should order the CHICKEN. Don't burden yourself by choosing between the two kinds, just order BOTH. It is INCREDIBLE. Absolutely perfectly fried and well-seasoned. Since it was a late dinner, I had stuffed myself earlier with some sandwiches but the chicken was so good that it made me ask for seconds.

Tip#2 Don't get the tacos! It's super small. You get two tacos the size of oranges. Not worth 9 bucks.

Tip#3 Porkbelly Fried Rice: Good portion, tasty, a nice carbohydrate to go with the alcohol.

Tip#4 Salt and Pepper Shrimp: Flavorful, a bit small yet TASTY

Lastly: Full Bar + Cash Only.

Very good food! A little hard to find but still worth the trip and the parking hassle in North Beach. I had the Chinese fried chicken and tasted the salt and pepper shrimp and tasted the ramen. All the dishes were good.

I would say that the wait staff is a little less attentive than I'd like but all-in-all, I owuld highly recommend this place. Also, it's nice to see a pop-up restaurant appear somewhere else besides the Mission.

The food is pretty inexpensive (I would've only rated this place a $ type of place) and they only take cash. Portions could be a bit larger. Also, beware of the drunks bros at the bar. The establishment can get pretty loud.

This is a cool spot I never would have found without the help of a friend. We walked here super hungry and left satisfied. Comfortable spot, great area, and good food. My friend got the fried rice, which is very similar to what my dad makes at home. The flavors brought back memories! I ordered the chicken strips. You get 5 strips for $9, which seemed a little pricey, but the strips were big and totally filling. We ate and watched the Giants game and had a great time.

The fried chicken tender were juicy and moist.  The korean hot dog was weird but it worked.  The bun was really good.  I didn't try the noodles but I dunno if I would go back to try it.  If you like the concept of a restaurant in a bar you def need to check out broken record.  The food there was far superior for a fat ass.

Loving Amante means loving all that's within, Chubby Noodle.

Do I miss Amante's fish taco, pizza...etc. like so many?  Absolutely!  But Chubby brings a different selection that's also great companion to a cold beer or one of the many delicious cocktails.

The ceviche is good, a nice Asian twist with a bit of coconut milk.  The poke is good, especially like the shrimp chips that it's served with.  Fried chicken is indeed juicy.  The salt and pepper shrimp is good - very garlicky and the peppers have a nice kick.  Being Chinese, I had expected the shrimp to be served with the head and shell...here, you don't get either, probably preferred by most.  Korean pork taco is good - the side of spicy sauce is a must have.

If you haven't tried Chubby - check it out.

    Mmmm so good

The Tuna Poke was a huge serving especially considering the price and had large tuna chunks. I probably could have just ate this as my meal but I couldn't pass up the fried chicken either. The chicken was awesome! Very moist and it came with a spicy dipping sauce that was the perfect compliment.

Negatives: Strange set-up with having to go to back of bar and order, Cash only

I'm sure that Amante appreciates all the new traffic from gourmands chasing down Don Pisto's owner Pete's newest culinary creations -- and after a taste or ten of the Chubby's selections while chasing it with a beer or three, you'll see why the place is more crowded lately.

My last couple of meals included:

Tuna poke - takes me away to Oahu with every bite. Might even be better than the poke I've had in Hawaii. Seriously.

"Red miso" shrimp ramen - I really love Pete's latest twist with the ramen, with just the right balance of miso and brothy taste. Fat shrimp are fat. The noodles are a joy to twirl on a fork. Always a favorite.

Fried chicken - Hubba hubba. I put a lot of pride in my own fried chicken but Chubby's definitely raises the bar. Not only is the chicken wonderfully crispy on the outside, but incredibly juicy and tender in the center. Dip your chicken in the unique sauce on the side -- it's off the hook. My secret? Order the ramen and drop a piece of fried chicken in to soak a little before devouring with noodles; it's decadent and tasty.

Salt and pepper shrimp - an asSALT on the senses (see what I did there?) with crusted shrimp combined with jalapeno slices. I expected to fan my mouth from the heat, but the salt does a good job of keeping the flames away. Not quite as good as Pete's Indonesian chile shrimp w/ noodles (bring it back!) but still very munchable.

Korean pork tacos - oh DAMN. Definitely the biggest surprise of the evening. All the deliciousness of Don Pisto's tacos, with the added bite of rooster sauce. So good. So good.

Thanks Pete, for consuming ever more of my meal budget. I'll see you again and again.

After a few drinks you'll need some food. If you're in North Beach, you'll not regret coming here. Think Nick's Crispy Tacos with Asian fusion and fried chicken. Sounds weird but it works. With my wife we shared...

    Tuna Poke - insanely delicious with prawn crackers, very fresh tasting, wife thought possibly too much sesame oil but I don't agree ;

    Fried chicken - I love good fried chicken. This was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside and did so much more than just filling a hole;

Garlic noodles - good for soaking up beer, but not the taste sensations of the other dishes we had.

Finally, the bar servers were super friendly providing plates, forks, napkins and beer whenever we needed them. And in total on food and drink we can't have spent over $50 between us. Gigi's faces serious competition for our N Beach casual dining $.

I wouldn't ever call myself a picky eater, but I simply don't eat bird. I haven't eaten bird in years after a traumatizing accident with a chicken.

My first time at Chubby Noodle I avoided the chicken as per usual, and devoured a bowl of ramen and tuna poke. I watched my friends munch on buckets of fried chicken and for the first time in years I got a little jealous. Everyone was raving about it and one of my friends even bought a second bucket.

The second time at Chubby Noodle I did it. I ate the chicken. I had to. I know I haven't  had it in years, but I'm pretty sure this chicken is laced with some kind of magic. I now dream of Chubby Noodle chicken and wake up hungover on Sunday mornings dreaming of Chubby Noodle!!

I love Don Pisto's, so when I read a few months back that the owner of Don Pisto's was opening a noodle bar inside Amante, I knew I had to try it.

The fried chicken was delicious. 5 pieces per bucket. $12 for drums and thighs, $9 for strips.

I also liked the beef dumplings, scallop sashimi, and sesame noodles. These aren't very unique dishes, but they were well executed.

The pork and mushroom ramen ($9) was fine but definitely not ramen-shop-good. I found the bowl a bit small.

Cash only, so don't forget to hit up the ATM. You'll be sad if you don't have enough for those buckets of chicken.

Well what can I say.  My first experience with a so called pop-up.  The place is located in the back of a North Beach kinda yuppyish bar.  Walk up and place order.  I am not sure if there is table service or not.  It was not clear.  I guess the waiter was working for the bar.  She was pretty loaded.  However, the garlic noodles were FANTASTIC!  The Red Miso Ramen was a little less so.  My friend had the pig belly bowl, ...  i don't think that is what they call it.  He said it was great.  My other friends had the fried chicken.  Seemed to get a good review.  All in all... I would go back for a bowl of that spicy garlic noodles....

fried chicken strips super juicy, good spices
korean pork tacos well marinated, aioli packed a nice punch
chinese fried chicken over fried rice very spicy, fried rice had perfect flavor.

    meh:
ramen noodles overcooked - broth good though
garlic noodles bland and also overcooked

attentive service. cute waitresses.  clean chill bar.  might go back on a drunk night for the fried chicken.

This restaurant has become my new favorie spot to eat in North Beach.  The menu isn't the biggest but I would rather go somewhere that does a few dishes very well than go to a place that does a lot of dishes in a mediocre fashion.  A must try is the fried chicken.  I have had both the strips and the wings but I think the strips win by a small margin.  They are just so crispy but still juicy on the inside, but watch out, they delivery these fresh off the fryer so the first bite might be a little hot.  The salt and pepper shrimp was another thing I really enjoyed (I think they have a magic fryer back there) and that paired with the huge bowl of ramen is a good sized meal for two.  The ceviche was fantastic too, nice and spicy, and served on a couple mini tostadas has lead me to go on a quest to try every menu item.  I will be returning frequently so I hope they start expanding hours on the weekends to quell my eventual fried chicken cravings this summer

While the beau and I were up north visiting a couple friends, us four decided to check out the Chubby Noodle. Slightly weirded out that we walked into Amante's bar, our group was hesitant, but we decided to give it a shot still.

We are so glad we did!

We ordered everything with plans to share:
    - Hawaiian Tuna Poke (5/5: The tuna is SO tender and eating it with the puffed rice cake is delicious)
    - Butter Milk Brined Fried Chicken (5/5: Excellent batter, perfect crunch, and super tasty!)
    - Pork Belly Fried Rice (2/5: The guy really liked the fried rice, but I found it way to salty. It was actually pretty inedible for me. But if you don't mind salty food you might like it!)
    - Red Miso Ramen (4/5: Great ramen; I don't care for spicy food thus the 4 stars, but holds a candle to my local ramen favorites in SoCal)
    - Wonton Soup (5/5: AMAZING soup!! This was easily my favorite dish of the meal. The wontons tasted like they came off a dim sum cart and the broth had a wonderful mild flavor.)
    - Korean Pork Tacos (5/5: I was sad that there were only 2 tacos on the plate! The pork was super tender and the Korean pickles added the perfect amount of tanginess. Delicious!)

This is perfect drinking food, can't wait to go back during our next trip up north!

Chicken was tasty, but the skin was too greasy and falling off the bird.  I wanted this to be great, but it wasn't.  I thought it came out too fast, no idea how fried chicken can be done in 3 minutes and the final product showed that it can't be.

I think if you get your order timed right, this chicken can be great!  Good flavor and super juicy for sure.  The skin would definitely need to be dryer to stay on the bird, once the recipe is perfected, it could be a hit.

I heard mixed reviews about this place, but finally went with my friend who had been raving about it and I thought it was great. yes, it's kind of an awkward set-up and yes, seating is hard to come by if you come at a peak time, but luckily it was a warm January night and we were able to sit outside.

The food came pretty quickly but I was impressed with how delicious everything was. The fried chicken really was great, such a unique flavor. We also got the tuna wontons, pork tacos and garlic noodles. Everything was soooo good. Can't wait to take my husband back there.

The friend chicken and accompanying sauce is awesome.  Definitely get that.  The tuna poke is also really solid.  I find that the noodle bowls fall a bit short though.  They lack something... can't put my finger on it though.  If it was called chubby chicken, I would give it 5 stars.  Chubby Noodle is still a pretty funny name though.

4 stars for the fried chicken.  it's crispy outer, yet moist inner.  obviously fried to almost perfection.  sad that there are no waffles to join in this occassion.

the poke and ceviche were also worth getting again.

sadly, the ramen and garlic noodles i thought were sub par.  for a noodle bar i would have thought it would have been better.

nonetheless, i'd definitely come back for the other 3 items, and probably try some other things.

Tonight was the perfect night to try out Chubby Noodle. The weather was nice so we sat outside. It's a Tuesday so the area wasn't crowded.

We ordered the pork & mushroom ramen and a bucket (popcorn cup) of fried chicken. The ramen was pretty tasty but the fried chicken was ridiculously good! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, packed with crazy good flavor. This pop-up is for real.

Hands down favorite dish at Chubby: sesame noodles. 2nd place goes to fried chicken and 3rd goes to pork dumplings. The place resembles a fancy, modern bar scene but totally cool in my book with all the comfort food. Nice place to grab gelato around the corner, too for dessert.

On the advice of my neighbor I went to go check this place out randomly last night. I was pretty excited because Amante needed something special (other than booze ) and the last time I remember eating something there it wasn't anything to write yelp about.

The bar and food operate separate from one another, so don't get all smug when you wonder why no one has taken your order at the table. Also the bar takes cards but not Chubby Noddle so also keep that in mind.

For how much action was going on we got our food pretty fast and as it was ready so we could eat in courses. First came the coleslaw, awesome balance of flavors... on the spicy side too which was a plus. Then on to the beef dumplings. The dumplings were ok; the sauce it's served with is --perfect, to die for--. It added just the right kick to a bland dumpling shell to get you to the yummy goods in the middle. Then we had the oysters, they were of great quality so they get points for that automatically. Nothing worse than yucky oysters! I wished it would have came with some kind of sauce to top but I improvised by using the stuff that came with the dumplings (did I mention I loved that stuff!?) To be fair I think they may have put the rooster hot sauce out for us.  Last we got the chicken strips. Hot and juicy! I rather enjoyed they weren't over breaded; the skin was light and airy. Also it came in a cute little popcorn cup; creatively cute I'd say.. screw dishes anyway.

A new restaurant is always exciting in the North Beach area, well in this case the Kitchen at Amante. Sort of a different process for ordering within a bar but with such reasonable prices for unbelievable food is kinda insane. Some of the most unique and delicious dumplings I've had in the city, as well as the fried chicken with that whatchamacallit sauce is amazing.

Yes, I really love this place!  It is worth the hassle of schlepping to North Beach and finding parking to have food this great....the best bar food ever!  I would have eaten everything on the menu, but for our first time we tried the fried chicken (moist, perfect crust, flavorful) with an excellent spicy dipping sauce, the Korean tacos (much better than the food truck variety), the awesome (pardon the overused hype word) tuna poke (better than I have ever had in Hawaii), the garlic noodles (good, but maybe slightly overcooked) and the salt and pepper shrimp (ok, I have had better).  Accompanied by a Spaten beer, this is some of the most flavorful food I have had in a long time.  The bar itself is a bit dark but welcoming and the service was great from the waitresses.  The food is  a separate business (cash only) and you stand in line to order, and the food is brought to your table.  YUM!  (And then went to Humphrey Slocumbe's ice cream for an exquisite hot fudge sundae!)

not so fast, chubby... asian cuisine down pizza alley, have to come up with the goods, and falls short, make that stumbling ... 4 tapas "wanna be" dishes and at those prices how about a little authenticity ... kim chee is ouchee; garlic noodles- bland and not enough garlic to harm a vampires eyelash, chicken wings are slamn, but 4 whole wings at $9! dip me in the fryer or burner! and the ramen was observed and not sampled... will revisit in six months, needs serious overhaul and some guidance from the top chef or pack your knives, you go home... uncle tim
