Authentic Chinese restaurant offering dim sum for brunch and late night snacks that start after 8pm. Night snacks, for those who don't know, are smaller portions. They are great for those who want to dine alone and want variety or groups.
Service is in par with most Chinese restaurants. Clean considering it's located downtown.
Some if my favorite dishes are the crab meat and sea foam soup (chicken can be substituted for the crab), Szechuan beef, birds nest (bowl made of taro with various seafood and vegetables), and lobster.
For night snacks I would suggest general Taos chicken, beef in black pepper sauce, sweet and sour pork, deep fried pork chops (if you like sauce then get the capital style pork chop), deep fried shrimp balls, and baby bak choi. For the adventureous ones they have snails, mussels, and jellyfish.
Parking is free in the small underground garage they have if it's open. City parking lot near by. On street parking is free after 7pm bit make sure you double check. -

This is the best spot in Chinatown that I've had dim sum. Unfortunately it's ok at best. It's close to Bronson and is on the second level of the building. If you see a lineup you should walk to the front and put your table reservation in so that you can get a number. If you just wait in line you will be standing there until everyone else with a number gets a seat first.
I find a lot of the food over oily, the wraps on their dumplings a little...I'm not sure what I'd call it but chalky/dry/mushy and does not hold together well. The pork buns are a tad dry and overall the food is just ok at best.
The servers are pretty nice but I haven't found a place that I like the Cantonese food in Ottawa.
My friends from Ottawa never believed me until they went to a few places I had recommended in TO, Markham and Richmond Hill and now agree there is a very noticeable difference in quality of dim sum from Ottawa and places in Toronto. Hopefully I find a hidden gem in Ottawa and will report back when I do.
As an FYI, I do prefer the dim sum at Imperial on Dalhousie but it is more expensive. -

I used to go here often a few years ago with my family, as they have a very large space, but I find that the quality of the food has slowly declined in recent years. In my experience, the service has always been fast, and they're usually willing to make whatever you ask for, even if it isn't necessarily on the menu. Their menu is quite extensive, though many items tend to be fairly greasy. In my opinion, the best, and probably the only, things to order here are dim sum and duck. The dim sum is pretty good, always hot and well-portioned, and the peking duck is very crispy. Both are very tasty, and as far as I know, low on MSG. All their dishes are affordable, but the quality is less than other restaurants. They're open late, though - until midnight, every night, so it's pretty prime student grub.

We came here for a quick family dinner after spending a day getting aquainted with the Canada's capital. My parents insisted on having Chinese yet again, and emphasized that nothing fills you up better than a big bowl of rice. Aye-yah!
The restaurant had an eerie feel and was located in what looked to be an office plaza. I just remember sitting down, and feeling grimey, and had to wipe down my plate, cup, and chopsticks with hot tea. Is it me or do you also find yourself wiping down your utensils at almost every Chinese restaurant? This seems to be the case for me regardless which country I am in.
When the food came out, it was not piping hot- just 2 notches above luke warm. My sis and I usually look forward to the crispy shrimp chips that garnish a Chinese roasted chicken, and we were disappointed when our first bite did not result in a resounding crumble, but instead we were gnawing at it like a ball of gum. Stale shrimp chips are YUCK!
As for service, our waitress was never too far when we needed her, and was eager to serve us. I'm not quite sure if it's because of the fact that the waitress was so interested in hearing about our hometown, or the fact that we spoke her native dialect, but we received excellent service that day which is why I am giving it 2 stars. Food could of been better, but what quality can one expect when $160 CAD can feed 8 people with an 8 course meal? -

Repeat offender at this place. Great place to get food, I found some of the dishes a bit oily, but I got over it once the flavors and taste consumes your senses. The best things on the menu are most definitely not the deep fried, American Chinese food that we've all become accustom to, but rather the simply Chinese veg, with garlic, fish with ginger, soy, and scallions. They have off menu items, and if you know what you want they'll make it for you. The turn around time is not too bad, the food always arrived pretty steamy. Would recommend giving it a try. I'll be returning.
