I've been going to Chrysalis Spa for eyebrow shaping for years. In fact, before I lived here, I used to make time in every visit. Staff here are consistently good - consulting about shape, using high quality products, taking the time to do the job well.
My only complaint is that, in the last half dozen times I've been there, my appointment started at least 15 minutes late. This is a major problem when you're trying to squeeze a wax in at lunch! -

Call me spa-curious! I've been especially intrigued with spa and skin care offerings as of lately. Product and pampering and fresh-faces, oh my! So naturally, in a recent trip to the Hydrostone, investigations of Chrysalis Spa & Skin Care were imminent.
This is a spa ahead of the competition. With a range of exclusive, high end product and the latest spa services, its a place for those who like the best of everything and have the pockets to back it.
Chrysalis hosts some very select skin care brands with some hefty price tags. I browsed though it all, but couldn't muster the energy to talk details with the receptionist. At $100 for a 250 ml of sunscreen... its just not in my price range. Still, the product literature (available for detailing) looked to embody some legitimate merit and could possibly work miracles for those who can afford it.
They do sell a fabulous and moderately priced moisturizing cream branded 'Hempz' , pure herbal extracts. At $29 for a 530 ml bottle, I assure you its worth the price. This is the best moisturizer in the world and has an amazing smell to go along with it. Think delicious fruit and yogurt smoothie. Its glorious. End of story.
The spa side of things offers everything from the basics to electrolosis, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, photoneumatic hair removal and various other medical / clinical aesthetics.
Chrysalis seems like a very informed spot catering to a specific clientele. With its savvy store front and competitive range of product, this spa takes self preservation to a whole new level. -
Review from Lacey H.
I took a little dash through this Hydrostone Spa yesterday and found myself craving some serious pampering. I tested lotions and poked through the skin care products and nail polishes, while patrons filtered in and out for appointments and to pick up skin care products.
Products are pricey and I imagine suffer inflation because of the boutique nature of this spa. OPI nail polish is available, as well as Hempz and a Parisian line called Yon Ka (tres expensive). The woman at the counter offered me some assistance , but I opted for a brochure and a quick solo perusal.
Once comfortably seated at an eatery for lunch, I poured over the service listing. Aromatic Facials (90 minutes, $95), Waxing and Microdermabrasion (30 minutes, $100) are some of the services offered. I decided that should I be heading in for a tune-up, I'd go with the Medi-Pedi, a pedicure sans nail polish for $49, and the Aromatic Facial listed above, using essential oils and plant extracts to ply and soothe the skin.
The storefront is bright, and the workers seemed friendly, attentive, and capable of offering in-depth information regarding services and benefits. I'm seriously thinking of going in for some treatments, but perhaps I'll rest in the realm of daydreaming for now. However, I think this area of town is the perfect fit for a spa; grab a tasty European lunch, go for a facial at Chrysalis then grab a coffee - what a chic little day! -

This spa is the answer to my (skin-related) prayers. I've struggled with severe rosacea since my late teens, and have tried virtually every product out there to try and correct it, but they were to no avail.
A friend of mine, who is a frequent flyer at Chrysalis, suggested I accompany her to check out the spa and perhaps sample some of their products. From the moment I stepped inside this spa, I was blown away-this spa is in a league of its own! Beautifully, and luxuriously designed, it's clear that the folks at Chrysalis are committed to the ultimate in cluient care and sophistication. They provide an extensive assortment of skin care procedures ranging from basic reflexology to more advanced laser skin treatments and electrolosis.
For me, though, the true selling point of Chrysalis is their extensive inventory of quality skin care products. They sell a high-end skincare line known as DermEd, and it's been a lifesaver for my skin. I've been using the healing balm and infusion cream for months now, and from the get-go the results have been amazing: the redness in my skin has faded considerably (some days, there is no redness at all!), and I no longer get the ugly pistules on my face that are characteristic of full-blown rosacea. As far as I'm aware, Chrysalis is the only location that sells this fabulous product, so I frequently stopping by to re-stock my supply.
Since my success with the DermEd line, I've taken to using more of their products. A friendly staff member suggested I give their Gehwol products a try, since I'm constantly experiencing tired and achy feet from standing all day. Simply amazing!- I honestly didn't think that the Gehwol treatments could be any better than other footcare brands I've tried, but this stuff blows all the other competitors out of the water (sorry Avon!). The achiness has improved substantially, and the cooling sensation it creates for my feet is a welcome change from before. (Also, the lotions have a fabulous aroma which make them very therapeutic for the entire body- who knew?). More recently, I've also been splurging on some of Chrysalis' Iredale cosmetic products, namely their eyesahdows and foundations. They are all light , mineral-based products that enrich the skin, and I find that they don't create blemishes as readily as some drugstore/mainstream department store brands (which is especially nice for me, as I can wear makeup more often and not have to worry about aggravating my rosacea with abrasive cosmetics)
A couple of thing to keep in mind: There are A LOT of great products to choose from at this spa, and it can be a little overwhelming trying to figure out which will work for you. Fortunately, the staff here are friendly, approachable and informative- they will definitely be happy to steer you in the right direction in terms of a skin care regimen.
Also, the prices here tend to be steeper than other spas (On one trip to Chrysalis, I spent over $300 worth in products- but considering how much I've spent in the past on ineffective products, I figure it's worth every cent)
Bottom line: If you're into luxurious skin care with exceptional results, Chrysalis spa is ultimately the place to be
