Review from Alan K.
London, ON
It's been many years since I've been to this place as I haven't been in Hamilton for a very long time. But when I was at Chinese Dumplings, I was extremely impressed with not only the quality of the food but also the prices and quantity as well. The hot and sour soup had good heat to it but what impressed me the most was how huge it was. My shrimp dumplings were also first rate.
The service was extremely polite and the free lemon water, peanuts, and watermelon made for very nice touches. This one's a keeper. -
Review from Andrew F.
Now named Sparkles Northern Chinese Cuisine, this is a great place for genuine northern Sino-mongloid flavours.
Hot n sour soup: a dark soup with a white pepper kick, loaded with fresh tofu, carrots, green peppers, black wood ear mushrooms. Solid northern style. Stopped my friend's cold dead in its tracks.
Dumplings: this is the Sparkles' specialty. They have about 20 boiled and pan fried (ask them not to burn the bottoms) varieties with pork, lamb, shrimp, beef. Try the lamb shui jiao. Yum!
Pork ear: it's hard to find a place that serves this dish, but Sparkles does it well. Served cold on a bed of fresh cucumber and savory sauce. Oink oink!
BBQ tendon: another chef's specialty. Skewered pieces of beef tendon in a spicy mongolian dry rub. Haven't had this stuff since my last time in BJ.
