whatever on the other reviews about the road.
i drove my soccer mom ford focus station wagon here and it did fine. its not a luxury place, its a weird place, with like five or six adobe cabin rooms, overpriced for a lil room but a fabulous natural outdoors stone hot tub, a big communal kitchen (bring food to cook, you are seriously out in the boonies) and a strange cold pool. Camping on their lawn is available. The whole place is very small.
In general, its well worth it to go, cuz if you are in Marfa anyway you are obviously some kind of weirdo like me. Highly recommended afterwards to drive the border east through Big Bend State and National Parks to Terlingua Texas, which is also a big nowhere, breath takingly gorgeous and worth the visit to the un-touristy ghost town.Listed in: unique ways to spend time

A very worthwhile adventure. Drive down Pinto Canyon Road if you aren't afraid of heights or bad roads. 4 wheel drive is required.
Otherwise, go the long way.
Beautiful scenery. Unique experience. -

Beautiful place, and a sky full of stars was particularly memorable! Please be aware that this place is no where near Marfa, Tx. Marfa is the nearest city, but to get to the hot springs requires at least 1.5 extra hours of driving. Seven of which are on an unpaved road w/ rather large rocks. DO NOT ARRIVE AT NIGHT, REGARDLESS OF YOUR MODE OF TRANSPORTATION. Some roads warn you of "loose livestock" and they mean it. I spotted a cow and a calf. I had to stop the car and wait for the heifer to cross the road. Various and sundry white rabbits were also spotted. Amazingly I did not see any roadkill. I did spot at least 10 separate border patrol vehicles, so I felt more comfy on the road. DO NOT drive up here in any sort of car or van. You need a vehicle designed for "off road" driving. Bring all the food and water that you'll need, because there are no provisions there! The kitchen was well stocked w/ pots, pans, stoves, fridges, etc, but you need to bring your own morsels! My cabin and bed were in good shape. The shared bathroom was always neat and clean. Swimming pool was a little dirty, but the other places to soak were great.
