It was my mother's birthday so we ordered a Mont Blanc cake for her. Us Japanese people often like our desserts to be not overly sweet and "sensai" which means delicate, subtle, fine. This cake was just that. The marron cream was piped over the cake in the traditional way, and it was light and flavourful. The cake was layered in chocolate sponge and mousse sprinkled with generous chunks of marron glacé. If you're a chestnut lover, you must try this delicate cake.
The only downfall is that if you don't keep the box perfectly straight, it will slide to the edge. ( Not a problem if you're not clumsy like me. )
Good luck trying to find free parking on the side streets. Downtown meter parking is outrageously expensive now.

My friends and i walked miles to get here, only to be greeted with greed.

This was the ONLY place in vancouver BC where we were charged .80 canadian dollars for 1 US dollar. so we paid, literally 9+ US dollars for a 7+ dollar parfait. PLUS, we had to eat this on our feet  outside as each person in your party must order something to be able to sit inside.  This ruined my mood for sure.

The parfait itself, (green tea matcha) was yummy to begin with... but ended with sponge cake which was dry and.... well, useless. It was given to the pigeons.  At least it made for a good picture.

The girl at the counter was sweet and polite, BUT THEIR RULES SUCK. it is hard for me to wish this business well.

Came here with wife for the green tea parfait. Nice enough but overpriced for what it is.

However, I was annoyed that they have a policy of each guest has to buy something to eat in which makes no sense during off peak times (we just wanted to share dessert at 2:30pm on a thursday and the place was empty) - hence giving this place 1 star.

Why oh why have I walked by this place so many times without trying it yet?  After a couple of hundred times of looking at their sign for the green tea parfait, I finally got one.  I am officially hooked after just one visit.  Mixing up all the ingredients was fun and all the flavours worked well together.  I really can't understand the negative reviews here.  They don't have a fair USD conversion rate (wtf!) and a harsh sharing policy?  Perhaps it is a bit pricey, but I am very satisfied.

I could have green tea parfait everyday!! mmmmmmmmmmm

This place is really small and is more of a take out joint than eat in.  They somewhat even encourage that you take out.  It's not bad considering it's starting to get nice out and a nice walk around downtown with a parfait sound mighty tasty.

Green tea ice cream, green tea mousse, mochi, whipped cream, corn flakes, sponge cake, and red been sauce!  Soooo good!!!

I just love eating through the different layers of flavours and textures.  Very well thought out.  Each component complimenting each other.

Tried their macha parfait. It was just average or a bit worse. Because I believed that making parfait couldn't go wrong... but it wasn't so good.

Especially, I didn't like how they layered the ingredients. The parfait has cereal & cut-up sponge cake on the bottom. Since they are both dry, I felt thirsty and bored to finish the parfait. I think they should put one of them (cereal or sponge cake) in between the creams or ice creams. I also didn't like the green tea jelly they put in the parfait.

The staffs here are good and friendly, but i think this place is overpriced for what you will get.
    I don't think i will go back .

    love love love x2!

i get cravings for their parfaits. i'm particularly drawn to their tiramisu parfait and their anmitsu parfait. when you break down what the dessert contains, it's not all that amazing. but once you put all the ingredients together in a plastic see-through chicco cup, that's when the magic begins.

The best Japanese style green tea (matcha) parfait I ever had *so far*!
fyi. I am a big fan of Japanese green tea (matcha)! haha :p

I've had tried different parfaits in different areas (Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver) but I think this is the best one I had so far! Not too sweet, not too greasy I can finish one just by myself without drinking any drink/water.
btw, my friend had the tiramisu one it tastes pretty good too!

The only defect is... It's a little bit pricey, $7.50 each...
BUT you know what?  I think most people would feel that it's worth every penny after they tried it.

I would definitely come back if I visit Vancouver again for sure (=

Mmmm... parfait.  This place offers a variety of Japanese-styled parfaits, including a layer of cornflakes, which adds a nice crunchy texture to the otherwise smooth ice cream and whatever else that's on top.
I've tried the matcha and black sesame.  Both are recommended.

Due to the limited seating, only those who buy something are allowed to sit down.  I went in with 2 other people and we ordered 2 parfaits.  We were still asked to... not sit. =/  It's better to walk it off as you consume the sweet though, I say.

Pretty cool little dessert place which I was surprised to find out is owned by the Gyoza King group.

We had the New York cheesecake and caramel parfait; both were quite good.

Good for an end of date dessert if you're in the area.

U gotta be kidding me!! I thought this place is freaking famous! If not why would it put a 7.50 ridiculous price on a tiny parfait, but I got to admit, it is goooood~~

Well, the parfait is one of the most unique and Japanese deserts I have ever had! the green tea ice cream is surprisingly average, yet the vanilla ice cream is amazingly creamy and rich in vanilla and milk! I love it!
What is so special about the parfait is that they put toast and cereal and the excellent mochi!! All together surprisingly match and make a great taste and texture~

However, with that portion and price (with 7.50 I can have a full meal in UBC..), which is why I gave a 4. And just  a personal view, I think they can put more cream to make those materials blend better~

Though I've visited the sister establishment (Gyoza King) many a time, my first stop at Chicco was just the other night, and it was an eye-opener! The big draw here comes from the selection of Japanese-style parfaits - something I'd never tried before, but I can certainly see the attraction - they're the Total Dessert. There are at least six or seven flavours to try, from mango to matcha to tiramisu to black sesame. Each comes with a cornucopia of different tasty elements layered in its little cup - ice cream, mousse cake, corn flakes, mochi, sponge cake, red bean, jello, fruit and more all might find their way onto your spoon. It's pretty crazy and a delight for those who crave food with a variety of interesting textures! Unfortunately it's also a bit pricey at nearly eight dollars a cup, and there's little if any room in the eclectically decorated shop to sit down and enjoy your treat. Good stuff for a hot summer evening's walk, I suppose!

For those not interested in parfait, they also have cakes and pastries (macaroons!) and other sweets (coffee jello - it's like a cappuccino Popsicle!) available.

Fun and unique! Though potentially hazardous to your health if you've got a sweet tooth like mine.

Japanese parfait is their specialty. I had the cheesecake and green tea parfait.  Nice to indulge on something that's not too creamy.
My favorite is the green tea parfait, layered with mochi, azuki, a small piece of green tea cake. All in one cup. It reminds me of spring time in Japan.

It will be nice if they have more room in this place. They also serve teas, coffee and cakes.

Matcha parfaits are possibly the best 'to-go' dessert ever. A little pricey, but once you devour this, you know that it is worth every penny. Each ingredient in this cup of goodness is absolutely wonderful. Mochi, green tea ice cream, red beans, and a piece of decadent green tea sponge cake.

Part of the Gyoza King chain, this is another great gem in their collection. Please open more Japanese dessert places!!

Also serving other kinds of parfaits, as well as cakes, teas, and Illy coffees. I believe at lunchtime they also offer paninis. There's very minimal seating here-little wooden tables with benches. Very cute.

    Craving some green tea parfait!!

I wasn't that impressed, though I don't have real complaints, either.

I should have looked at Yelp beforehand and tried the strawberry for a change of pace :-) but I, too, had a green tea thing: Green Tea and Mascarpone. The bit of green tea sponge cake was well balanced with the green tea mousse and mascarpone mousse. It left a bit of something on the roof of my mouth. I don't know enough about patisserie to specify, but what I was looking for wasn't here.

The decor was a bit of too many things: some modernism-ish tables, some beach wind-worn kind of tired tables, normal counters, industrial-type chalkboard menu. I couldn't find anything tying them together -- not appealing to me.

    CASH ONLY.

Green Tea Parfait... make that two of them.... for $7.50 each?... in a little cup with corn flakes, sponge cake, a little scoop of green tea ice cream a sall square of green tea moose.. and a dab of red bean sauce.. and two pieces of mochi...... sounds like a lot... looks like not so much... but somehow.. after mixing everything together.. it worked.
It was rich and filling and overall satisfying. There are a variety of options that you can choose from  - like berry parfait, black sesame parfait, tiramisu... and more.
There are pitchers of lemon water on a side counter with little ikea cups that brings back memories of my roomates and I sipping juice in university. Wooden stools and chairs can hurt the back a little but it's a cute little place to enjoy a cup of coffee (which I have yet to try)... and a nice dessert. Their in-house cups look funky and their to-go cups are made of corn syrup... cool!

This place is a Japanese dessert cafe.  Green tea ice cream is one my favorites so I got this thing called the Chicco Hannabi (fireworks) that I saw advertised in the store window.  Yup I fell for it.   This parfait had green tea ice cream with green tea jelly, cookie sticks and whip cream.  It was good and worth the $5.

authentic japanese cornflake parfaits. can't find them anywhere else downtown, but here! they also have those crème de marrons things that are ubiquitous in japan - mounds of sweet chestnut paste that are birthed from a TUBE. taste better than they sound.

i only wish their parfaits were bigger, like those from marumatsu in japan.

Green tea parfait goodness! It is just a cup of green tea mousse, green tea ice cream, mochi, red bean, mascarpone cream, corn flakes and a spongecake on the bottom, but it will transform into a cup of drunken dance party once you mix them altogether!
