I've been here a number of times and seeing that I'm usually well-boozed by the time I get there, I can only find it because it is the same bouncer standing outside the door. Cherry Cola's is across the street from 416 Snackbar and is completely non-descript so just keep an eye out for a bouncer and loud music every time the door opens.
Stopped by here last night (Wednesday, 11pm) and asked the bouncer how it was inside. He told me it was quiet and I guess it was. There were maybe 20 customers there. Some nights it gets rammed and the dancefloor is tiny. The crowd is definitely 25+, more male presence than female. Some grubbier looking than others and maybe saw one or two suits at the bar.
Inside you'll find plush décor, red-lighting and a live band up front. Music is ridiculously loud but no complaints...you don't go to Cherry Cola's to chat. The live band was alright (heavy metal last night) and on busier nights, there will be a burlesque dancer featured dancing in the cutout in the wall. Bartenders with bleached blonde hair, red lipstick and corsets complete the vibe. Think motorcycle club meets Moulin Rouge.
My friend and I ordered Kronenberg's and I passed the bartender a twenty (she was a total babe!). She gave me back two fivers and some change that I left her and dropped another couple dollars on the bar. That means 2 Kronenberg's for less than ten dollars!! That's MAJOR.
I'll be honest though...I love the place and coming here, but I won't ever be able to stay for more than one drink. Just a stop in the night, not a destination. -

I love this place. The ambiance, the lighting, the rock music, the sexy bartenders, the go go dancers in the walls.
We stumbled into here after a Yelp elite event, so it was a great time to get wasted with some of the coolest Yelpers. They have very good seating options with the lounge in the back., We quickly invaded it, but there tall tall tables along the side and bar seating. The dance floor is tiny, but this isn't really a dance club.
The only knock are the prices, $8.50 for beers and a lot of money for shots. It's a great lounge for groups of 4 people, but can accommodate for larger parties. -

Upon entering this moody bar, I felt like I should be wearing some badass heels, fishnets and a corset. It makes a lady feel saucy, even in jeans, a tshirt and hi-tops, and that's sayin' something!
Although the bar offerings are very simple (not really any fancy mixed drinks, fairly basic beers/wine and spirits, but decent quality), and the prices are a little steep (maybe $1-2 more than I felt like I should be paying for a vodka tonic) the atmosphere makes up for it all. Gorgeous wallpaper, antique-esque light fixtures and furniture
I was in attendance for a Yelp afterparty, but I think it'd be great to go back and check out the place again, especially if there's bands. Or just to sit back and ogle the surrounds, because it's a kickin' kinda place to be. The DJ was spinning tunes when we were hanging out, enough to be good background, but not so intrusive that we couldn't all chat.
Totally unrelated to what your experience of Cherry Cola's might be, Kyuss turned up the night we were there - we had to vacate our area of the bar so it could be an ad-hoc VIP area, and amidst me losing my mind that Kyuss was there, we were treated to a couple of free drinks for the hassle! Hurrah. (Kyuss!! Man. Even without Homme, that was awesome.)Listed in: 30 Day Yelp Challenge!, Drinkin' and Fightin'! Mostly…

Most awesomeness decor ever and bonus points for fabulous name. (ROCK N' ROLLA!!!!!!)
Stumbled (yes, stumbled) in here after a boozy elite party nearby. This place was pretty rocking for a Thursday evening. I can only imagine what happens on the weekend.
Lots of cool couches and chairs in the loungy area at the back, perfect if you are too drunk to stand.
Booze was a bit pricey but at that point I was already "cut off" so it didn't matter much. Music was loud and fun. Lots of sexy people dancing! -

A solid spot for hanging out with possibly the sexiest bartenders in the city. The place is kind of small, but very cozy and comfortable. The band was good and the overall vibe is pretty great.
One of the bartenders impressed me by saying that they don't stock crappy liquor. Eric L. and I had a shot of tequila that was delicious.
The drinks were a bit pricy ($8.50 for krombacher bottles?!) but the place is so cool that I didn't really care.
I will return. -

Even a Yelp App cannot help us locate Cherry Cola... we walked up North and then we looked around..Nothing looks or resemble a lounge?!!! and where is this "Rock N' Rolla Carbaret Lounge"?!!
Then we heard some faint music coming out from a door... and we asked if this is Cherry Cola...... walked in to this red velvet sexy space.... then our eyes set on those loungers at the back and we know that's our space for the night!!!Listed in: A Day in Queen Street…

Cherry is definitely the name of the game here. Everything is red. The walls, the lighting, some of the corsets on the bartenders, you name it. It's a small space but it's packed with fun. The live music is always at "blast your ears off" level and the go-go dancers are always red hot.
I was amazed on my last trip that the dancer working that night went straight through the entire night with only one quick 5 minute bathroom break. She danced up a storm.
Most of the crowd here is really good. If you want to dance you can probably find someone to dance with or join the crowd in front of the stage. However, there are a few douches to watch out for from time-to-time. You'll find a few guys that put on the tough guy act and try to push their way to the front of the bar or squeeze you away from a table. Not to worry though, their bark is worse than their bite.

Yeah.. this place is pretty cool, I'd have to say.. it's one of those places if you've never heard about it, you've probably walked past it a million times, and never even knew it was there.
We ended up at this funky little venue after a friend's going away party. I'd heard about it through a friend of mine, so we popped in to check it out since it was close by... It was a great night! Kitschy, yet cool decor on the inside - red and black damask walls, antiquey mirrors... cool bar staff, and an awesome go-go dancer who was just having fun with the amazing music. The crowd is cool and very ecclectic, and just has a completely unpretentious vibe, which is refreshing from a lot of spots in downtown T.O.
We requested a song, and the dj played it right after the song that was playing - nice to see that some dj's actually do listen and will play something someone wants to hear. Awesome venue, totally cool vibe and crowd. Looking forward to going back.. ! -

The Toronto Lover system:
5 stars = Must visit!
4 stars = Really good. I take my friends here.
3 stars = Somewhat worth it... if you have nowhere better to go.
2 stars = Below average. Attend only when necessary.
1 star = Do not visit!
Cherry Cola's is so loud you'll hear it as you approach. They really take the Cabaret Lounge vibe seriously on the visual side of things, so expect a lot of red and black and frilly and lacey and such.
On the loud side, the music is so bland and predictable you'll wish you could hand them anyone's ipod. It's the hard rock and top 40 hits you'd hear in any beer commercial.
They do serve beer, if you can get one. Don't expect much dancing, as it's incredibly small and crowded. I think the point is to have a place where people clutch their beers, incidentally grind each other as they try to move around, and then wait a long time for another beer.
I just convinced myself that I hate this place.

We went on a Wednesday while barhopping during Renata R.'s birthday celebrations. I wasn't expecting much from the front door, but then we got inside and WHOA, everything is RED and there's a bartender that looks like a BDSM version of Marilyn Monroe.
While they do have a stage, there wasn't a band that night. The DJ was playing a pretty good rock set, so no complaints here. The drinks are excellent and the prices are decent.
So... cool ambiance: check; good music: check; cute bartender: check; awesome drinks: check.

1. If you like a uninvited skanky crack ho dancing too close to you and unbuttoning your shirt repeatedly, then this is the place for you.
2. If you like a sofa that requires a full body condom before even thinking of sitting on it, then this is the place for you.
3. If you like your bartenders to look more like bad versions of hookers than bartenders, then this is the place for you.
4. If you think hanging out with people who in general like #1 , #2, and #3 then this is the place for you.
5. If you like good music, just go to Bovine or Horseshoe instead. More music - less skank!
ps - I don't mind dive bars. My current regular bar in SF is a well known dive bar. However, there is a big difference between a dive bar and a skank bar.Listed in: Leaving on a Jet Plane

When I heard the name "Cherry Cola's Rock N' Rolla Cabaret Lounge" - I wasn't sure what to expect. But having been there, it's a pretty spot on name. This pretty well unmarked lounge at 200 Bathurst features red velvety wallpaper, mirrors, dim lighting, chandeliers, bartenders in corsets, a small-ish elevated dance floor and soul/funk/rock tunes.
Some interesting points of note:
-No cover! how refreshing!
-the bar has a pet cat that lounged on a velvet chair all night
-no coat check (but the cat will watch your coat)
-a live burlesque dancer dances all night in a window frame
-a photographer with a telephoto lens took pictures of ppl on the dance floor all night - not sure what that was all about!
-reasonably priced drinks ($5 beersies) -

I thought this place was pretty good, but I'm pretty sure they committed one of the cardinal sins of TO bars, holding the line when the place is not at capacity. I showed up around 11 pm on a Friday and there was a line of about 40 people. I got in around 11:30 because I was there for a birthday party and there was some guest list confusion, but prior to my getting in absolutely no one went in. However, somehow by midnight there was no line anymore. I find it hard to believe that the people outside, plus whoever arrived between 11:30 and 12 all got in because that exact number of people left the bar during that half hour window (although I suppose it's possible people just got fed up and left after waiting too long).
As for the bar itself. It was pretty fun, good music and fairly priced drinks. Dance floor wasn't rammed, but people were dancing. It's definitely a 25+ crowd, frankly if you were much younger you probably wouldn't know a lot of the songs. As mentioned by Kent P., there is a burlesque dancer in a cutout in the wall between the bar and dance floor. This is definitely odd, but certainly notable, although I'm not really sure this adds to the vibe. -

Don't expect to see a sign that says 'Cherry Cola's Rock N Rolla Cabaret Lounge' hanging outside of the new Queen West rock bar.
In fact you might not be able to find it unless you knew the new bar occupied the former Rok Boutique space. Only a red door and crystal chandelier adorn the exterior, encouraging the idea that Cherry Cola's is a rock bar for those "in the know". But whether this exclusivity appeals to you or turns you off, the bar is meant to attract a certain demographic who still love rock n' roll but don't want to party with a younger crowd that tend to frequent other bars down the street. Basically, it doesn't matter what the exterior looks like, it's only what's happening on the inside that counts.
I have to say that the decor is much better than Rok's. Gone is the 80s L.A. glam rock with guitars encased in glass hung from the walls and framed posters of Motley Crue; Cherry Cola's an upscale rock bar. Instead of hot pink and leopard print, the combo of velour wallpaper, velvet curtains, crystal chandeliers and red walls invite an atmosphere that is glamourous and sexy. It's a very intimate space where you can see very loud bands performs.
The layout is the same as Rok's with only minor changes: the V.I.P. area behind the bar is more defined with black velvet curtains that hide away plush chairs and couches; an unoccupied space in the basement is now a seating area with benches and private nooks where you can enjoy an intimate tête-à-tête with someone; the dancefloor still exists but there are more high tables for more seating; the stripper pole is gone from the dancefloor but thanks to a large nook in the wall near the stage, a burlesque dancer can show off her moves and entertain the crowd.
Hopefully the proprietors will do something special with their patio, which has a lot of potential. If there's any way to tie in the same style inside the bar with the exterior, it will no doubt become one of Cherry Cola's main attraction.Listed in: Play It Louder

Went there two Sundays ago and stumbled on this band called The Digs
A old school Funk & Soul band. The place for a Sunday night was pretty busy. Stayed the night great band great bar staff and when I come back through Toronto it's the first place I'm going to stop at. -

Only been here twice...both times there was a good band I've never heard of and booze wasn't too expensive. The decor is like a White Stripes album cover, which is cool. There was a dancer up in the wall both times as well...sort of distracting when you're talking someone to see that over their shoulder some T&A grinding against a mirror (not that I'm complaining). My friends tell me that the crowd varies- so as long as it's less 905 and more hipster-douchebag...you're golden.
