This store is my #1 spot for sandwiches and hummus! Not to mention their superb cheese selection. Great service, excellent quality- a real San Francisco gem. Definitely check this place out for lots and lots of goodies.
Thank you Cheese Boutique! -

Another secretish, Glen Park treasure.
I've always considered "Cheese Boutique" to be a bit of a misnomer. They do have a great selection of cheeses, but what makes the shop truly "boutiquey" are their hard-to-find European and British offerings: HP sauce, marmite, oddly-named chocolates with pictures of lions in flames on them, British teas, biscuits, etc.
Their sandwiches are also surprisingly good and the prices are often times more reasonable than Canyon Market's. Great staff as well. -

I would be a frequent visitor to the Cheese Boutique if I became a British expatriate in San Francisco because of the supplies of Kit Kat Chunky bars and Marmite that they stock among the goods from Europe.
The staff were always helpful and friendly and I usually ordered the Turkey sandwich on french bread to eat on the buses around SF. -

I picked up some very sharp aged Gouda.
I have to say the price is worth the quality.
Ask for a taster before you buy want you want. - It's a nice treat and a good preview of what you can expect.
The store has a nice rustic feel of a real shop. Friendly staff; I was overhearing the conversation they had with a newbie asking about cheese...which I can understand and appreciate.
This is perfect because it's right near my Bart exit. - Not sure about others who drive out. You'll have to hunt for parking but they have metered parking all over here. -

I'm giving the Cheese Boutique 5 stars for 4 reasons:
1) The friendly and helpful staff
2) The delicious assortment of European chocolates
3) The assortment of gluten-free crackers (the hazelnut crackers are awesome)
4) The triple-cream brie (once you start eating it, you won't be able to stop)
One of the many independent shops that makes Glen Park so charming! -

The hummus is incredible; you can definitely taste the freshness, and high quality ingredients. High quality and friendly service is what Rick and the Cheese Boutique are all about.
Sad news....the building recently changed ownership, and Rick is being forced to look for new space. After having a long-term run in Glen Park, I hope he finds a place to stay in the village. -

The people here are SO nice and helpful.
they always have a big smile for us when we go there and even remember our order.
We come here for sandwiches and while waiting peruse the aisles with imported items and specialty foods. I love the imported English chocolates :)Listed in: My Neighborhood

It's always great. Homemade hummus...to die for. None better. Same for the homemade dolmas. Great sandwiches. Everyone who works there is fantastic. It's a Glen Park treasure.

Love these folks. So nice and helpful; they have the best hummus, and their olive and artichoke dips are each super tasty.
Nice cheese selection, chips and snacks. -
Review from Jeff W.
wonderful cheeses like Italian Gorgonzola and Dutch Parrano, spicy Toscano salami, and Prosciutto. Muffaletta Olive relish, Taramosalata Greek cod roe spread, and tabbouleh. complete this selection with a warm baguette made by Destination Bakery Company up the street but also sold here and you have the makings of a wonderful lunch. I actually paired this meal with a Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara today and was completely satisfied.
Life is short, eat well! -

This is a cute little market, but the Cheese Boutique is a bit of a misnomer. As a few others have said in reviews before this one, the cheese selection here, for something known as a cheese shop, is meager. They have a middling level of cheeses. Yes, there is Humboldt Fog, but as far as local, organic or raw milk cheeses, this place falls short.
The staff was helpful, offering up samples of cheese, and answering my questions. But, despite selling me cheese and helping me out, both women behind the counter seemed annoyed at my inquiries. I was merely asking what kind of milk some cheeses were made from, and, while I got an answer, I got heavy sighs along with it.
For those in the neighborhood, it's a great place to stop in quickly. But, honestly, Canyon Market, the grocery across the street, has a broader, more complex selection of cheeses for exactly the same price. Might as well go there.Listed in: Be Cheesy

I literally have a longing in my HEART for a sandwhich from this place right now. Deli sandwiches like NO OTHER!!!! The best bread, cheese, and meat you could think of. Ok, my ideal sandwich right now from the Cheese Shop (I always thought it was called the Cheese Shop, not Cheese Boutique) is this:
Smoked turkey on a French roll, with Havarti, red onions, avacado, mayo and mustard.
This is the way to my heart. -

A Lebanese owned cheese boutique! (Rick started this shop 15 years ago)
First, I walk into the door and go straight for the back refigerator. The friendly staff always says hello. I open the middle door and grab one of my favorite hummus' in the city- with a tart lemony twist and plenty of tahini. Below that I grab some fresh made linguini. I then pivot backwards and go the cheese counter that has a solid selection of cheeses- i appreciate that they have good feta of both sheep and goat varieties. They have plenty of other great choices.
On some same days I might peruse around the shop for their Capricorn Coffee, teas, excellent off brand english muffins, and all sorts of other thingamajingys.
Places like these are what gives character to San Francisco. This neighborhood is loosing that character fast through the destructive forces of gentrification. The cheese boutique is like King Lear at the end of the play as he stands with his tattered crown and everything around him is in ruins. -

I don't eat a lot of cheese (though I love it!!) for health reasons. I don't eat gluten - thus most bread... for health reasons. I don't eat refined sugar.... for health reasons.
Man, my life sounds depressing when I put it like that.
So why the &*^* am I writing about "The Cheese Boutique?" Some bizarre form of self-mutilation? No. I just like writing about the stores in my neighborhood... in my neighborhood... in my neigh-bor-hood! Oh these are the stores in my neighborhood...
Sorry. It's Sunday morning and I'm easily distracted.
OK. So the Cheese Boutique:
- Sells organics - and did long before the recent neighborhood addition of Canyon Market.
- Sells gluten-free products - and did long before the recent neighborhood addition of... yes, Canyon Market.
- Makes *really good* hummus. It's the right consistency - garlicky without being overpowering - great touch of lemon juice - yum!
- Has really nice proprietors - always a plus in my book.
- Is a local mom and pop store - another plus.
- According to my husband, has great sandwiches.
- Sells lots of English biscuits. I love English biscuits - and on the days I cheat on the no-gluten thing, I'll eat a package in a sitting.
- Sells amazing, homemade halvah. Yes, for when I cheat on the no-sugar thing, I'll gladly buy their halvah. mmmm... halvah.
- Is in my neighborhood - in my neighborhood...in my neighborhood...oh Cheese Boutique is in my....Listed in: My Neighborhood

Let it be known... I FUCKING LOVE CHEESE!!!
The Cheese Boutique has a large selection of cheese. The staff is always friendly and readily available to answer any question you may have about cheese.
Sample their selection of fine cheeses. Choose a few with a box of crackers and a bottle of fine red wine. Order a sandwich. I recommend the mortadella with provolone on a baguette. Reminds you of Europa! -

Don't be fooled by the address! This place is devilishly good. Sorry, I had to be cheesy. Ha ha ha...get it. Okay, I'll stop.
Seriously, this is a great place. The different cheeses, the fresh mozzarella sandwich on a baguette, the variety of European goods. It's pure bliss and the folks are amazingly sweet. Believe me, I definitely suffer from a milky overdose ever now and again (sadly, I am lactose intolerant) but, by golly, this place is worth it! -

I haven't yelped in a while because my yelp-morale is low. But I visited Glen Park for the first time in the 3.5 years I've lived here and the hummus is that good. I'll have to agree with Gerry G.
Its worth making the trip to this nook in the city to get the hummus. I ate half the container in one sitting and think I need to go back to get more. -

The Cheese Boutique is the best neighborhood cheese store in town. They have a nice selection for a store of its size, and Rick is such a wonderful, helpful person- he always makes you feel special.
Great British grocery products too!Listed in: My Neighborhood

I had never been in but I wanted to buy fresh fettuccine and I could see from a sign in the window that they had it. I briefly browsed their selections of sauces and biscuits. Looks good. Cheese samples were on the deli case. Seems like a good place to get cold cuts ad cheese. I grabbed a pint of half priced strawberry fresca gelato which was really delicious.
The fettuccine was good, I think I cooked it incorrectly as I didn't separate the noodles in any way before placing in boiling water. I'm not sure if that was my fault or the pasta.
Unfortunately the pita bread I bought had mold which I noticed when I got home.
The store's atmosphere is inviting with it's open door leading you to an interesting selection of jarred and packaged goods. The guy working there was really friendly and welcoming. I will probably go back and try again. -

As I post this review, it looks like every reviewer before me has given Rick and his staff 5 stars.
I would have to agree.
What I love about this place is not just its selection of reasonably-priced cheeses, fresh-made sandwiches, fresh-ground Capricorn coffee (cheaper and better than Starbucks and Peets), and other hard-to-find foods (e.g., fresh hummus, specialty sorbet, selection of teas, etc). The best part of Cheese Boutique is the friendly service from the staff, starting from the smile and greeting that you get from Rick, to the recommendations and sampling invitations offered by the rest of the staff behind the counter (maybe his daughters?).
Overall, this is one store that IS worth traveling across San Francisco to visit. They've never let me down. -

My favorite shop in Glen Park. The friendly owner serves up an excellent array of quality cheeses and pates at very fair prices, so I get my cheese on here whenever I visit, to avoid paying the outrageous prices at Canyon and Mollie's. Don't miss the middle eastern delicacies like fresh humus, babaganoush, dolmas, etc.. Also on hand are fine imported jams and other spreads, packaged teas, and biscuits. Ric also has a small refrigerated dairy and pasta case, and a freezer full of desserts and frozen dinner items.

Um, I thought this was a cheese shop after reading all of these reviews. As it turns out it is a stuff-that-goes-ok-with-cheese-and-some-cheese-sho p. A very small selection but very nice if not necessarily knowledgeable staff. More of a convenient store with some good but not great cheeses.
If this were just considered a deli though it would've exceeded my expectations.
I'm still looking for something along the lines of Artisnal or Murray's in NYC and this isn't even close. -

I keep asking the owner if he adds butter to his homemade hummus to make it so magically delicious.
He keeps saying "no."
I am still suspicious. -

I love this place! I'm from the east coast and was raised in an Italian family where we did the whole homemade spaghetti dinner thing on Sundays, and the Cheese Boutique comes the closest to replacing my gramma's ravioli. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful. The prices here are really great (especially compared to a certain cheese shop in Cole Valley that I used to frequent.)

One of my favorite places to buy cheese in San Francisco. Rick is a great business owner, and he sure knows his product.
Over the years I've been shopping here he's added better and better items to his shelves, and the selection is superior in every means.
Do yourself and favor and come here and check it out. Enjoy! -
Review from Rona Y.
This places is great and so convenient! The selection is decent, especially for a smaller place like this. All I know is that they have a couple of triple creams, and that is really all I need! The best part is they are totally cool with letting you try the cheese and don't pressure you to buy!
They also have pastas, ice creams, crackers.. basically anything you can think of to go with cheese - well not the ice cream, well actually that probably would be good too. -

I miss this place the most of my local Glen Park haunts. Where else can you get Rick's advice on putting together a lovely appetizer tray, catered to the capricious whims of your guests, AND sample the tasty treats ahead of time?
Sigh, good thing I find excuses to go back to the old neighborhood. -

Tasty for a vegetarian place. I really liked their hummus and thought it would be a nice regular lunch spot. The address is ominous though

Holy Halloumi!
Loves it. Great friendly staff. And they even gave me a complimentary little book with recipes for my halloumi.
Conveniently located in our lovely little hamlet of Glen Park village.
Great selection of cheeses plus other enticing items, like my new favorite little French cakes -- Nonnettes. Check it out when you're in the 'hood. -

If you are looking for a cheese shop with a huge variety of cheese, this is not the shop. Whole foods has more cheese, the market down the street might have more cheese.
But, they are friendly and nice. -

A small selection of cheese, but it's very good and the prices are excellent. The mortadella is the best I have ever had, and the fresh-sliced pancetta is also very good. Also bought some great frozen ravioli.
The staff is young but knowledgeable. -

We love this little market and prefer their sandwiches over Canyon Market's. The staff is always helpful and attentive when we stop in.
THEY HAVE THE BEST BABA GANOUSH AND HUMMUS!!!!
It's not a fancy store (frankly they could use some new paint to spruce things up) but it's close to us and their prices are reasonable. -

Cheese is my thing. I was a cheesemonger for three years and I LOVE it.
I really enjoy Cheese Boutique! It's near my office and a favorite lunch choice of pretty much all of my co-workers. It's great to be able to get a sandwich made exactly the way you like it on great quality bread with great quality ingredients. Plus, you can choose any cheese you'd like from the case for your sandwich! That's awesome.
I've placed special orders for client meetings and the owner (I'm sorry I don't remember his name!) and staff is always extremely accomodating and great to do business with.
I'm also impressed by the stock of nice and interesting foods available in their shop. You can find all sorts of imported and/or all-natural things: crackers, candies, cookies, chips, jams, sodas, pasta, garnishes, syrups and a whole lot of other things I can't think of now. Perhaps not a place I'd go for regular groceries, but so much fun! If it was up to me, I'd clean up the cheese case a little bit... but everything looks good even if it's a bit disorganized. -

Love love love this place. Best babaghanoush in the city. Possibly even the world.
The staff is wonderful and charming. They laugh at my overly dramatic crestfallen exits when the baba is gone (they have to make a fresh batch) and always let me do comparison sampling of their cheeses.
I am sure there are other places with fancier cheeses and a hundred different varieties you've never heard of but I don't really care.
This place is great. Absolutely fabulous.
