Review from Steven S.
Dropped over to Victoria for a little staycation with a lovely young lady and we stayed at the Chateau. While like many hotels in the land of the newly wed and the nearly dead. Or as I call it `God`s Waiting Room, are a flashback or maybe a flashdance to the 80`s I was really impressed with the Chateau for both service and the friggin nice suite.
Service: When we checked in their was Hot Cider in the lobby Nommy and the staff was warm and welcoming. I was a little freaked out when we entered from a evening of food and drink to see the desk clerk reach for a button under his counter. I thought he may be signalling for a bouncer, but what he was doing was calling a elevator to the floor so we did not have to wait. This in my book of service books, called `The Badger`s Guide to Hotel Goodness" goes a long way.
The Room: Ah we were given a suite, and while it is not some fancy boutique hotel it was huge, nice and clean. It had french doors to the nice king sized bedroom two HD tv's fridge microwave and a wrap around porch. If you are looking for a decent place to stay in the Little Big Smoke I fully stand behind staying here. -

I was really pleased with this place. Very reasonable rates in October (about $100-$120 per night). Free garage parking. Free wifi. Very cool lounge and rooftop restaurant, with happy hour specials. Unbeatable location. Fast elevators. If you want to stay downtown, I'm not sure you can beat this place.

Got a great package deal for Chateau Victoria with our Victoria Clipper ticket from Seattle. We have a one bedroom suite complete with kitchenette, two TVs, and two queen sized beds. Sadly we have the room right across from the elevator door, kinda annoying (seems like these are the rooms they reserve for these package deals). The hotel rooms are average, neutral colors, light wood furniture, but nice.
Other than that, a decent hotel. We ate late lunch at Clive's the lobby bar yesterday and had a lovely ginger carrot coconut soup and mushrooms on toast. Very impressed. There is also a martini and wine bar on the 18th floor. The hotel has a fitness room, pool, hot tub, and in room spa services.
Great location, two blocks from the Empress hotel and within walking distance to cafes, shopping, restaurants etc. -

Vancouver, BC
I stayed at this hotel for work from Sunday to Tuesday in March.
The front desk was nice, the doorman helpful and the rooms very large and very clean. The beds are quite comfy and they offer lots of very fluffy pillows! Most of the staff went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable, including the cleaning staff! They were all unassuming but still there whenever you needed them.
My room even had a balcony and a stunning view of downtown Victoria and the Parliament buildings.
Room service was pretty simple to use and the breakfast, while overpriced, was delicious. For dinner I ordered Clive's Signature Kobe Beef Burger which was mediocre at best. The bun was completely stale (and non-toasted) the gravy for my fries was horrifically disgusting and the burger was burnt. Also, I ordered a Coke which came with a non-twist bottle top but no bottle opener. Everything was cold except the Coke. They quickly brought me a new bun when I called but there was no saving the meal. Also, the actual burger patty was pretty small, especially compared to the size of the bun. Too much bread!
Everything else on the menu was severely overpriced. ($14 for a garden salad but make that $21 if you want chicken!)
I loved my room and found the staff very kind so I would recommend this hotel to friends and family but I highly recommend skipping the room service and venturing out to some of the incredible restaurants on Government street. If you must order in, try Golden Chopsticks for the best Chinese in town! -

We took the airport shuttle front the Victoria airport to the hotel, $11.00 per person, door to door.
This hotel is close to almost everything.
One block to the Empress Fairmont for High Tea.
One block to the Pacific Coast Line Bus Terminal, to Vancouver ($48.00).
One and a half block to the Inner Harbor Seawall and Government Street main shopping district. About 6-7 blocks to LuLuLemon store.
Andrew on the staff at CV will give you the scoop on the fishing in Victoria.
The rooftop restaurant / bar, has the best view of Victoria. Food and drinks, moderately prices. -

I had made a packaged deal with BC Ferries and this was the hotel that I had chosen. It's very conveniently located within walking distance to the inner harbor, BC Royal Museum, Empress Fairmount, China Town, etc.
The staff was super friendly and very helpful. Parking and WiFi is included and I received a complimentary upgrade! In that suite we had 2 rooms with 2 queen beds and one pull-out sofa in the other. The hotel does have a pool, gym and hot tub.
It's not super-fancy or updated/modern, but good enough. The TV's are pretty small and there was only a portable AC unit in the room. But for the price (compared to others in the area) it seems like a very good alternative to me. I would not hesitate to come back and I hope I get to one day. -

Lovely hotel situated in the perfect spot downtown. Quiet, beautiful rooms, it was expensive, but worth it.

I have to admit a bit of a bias when it comes to anything Victoria, B.C. Visiting Victoria brings back fond memories of the weekend trips with my cousins and my grandparents that dotted my teenage years. Victoria was also my first "destination date" with the boyfriend I eventually married, and we returned for our honeymoon a year and half later. Each visit is unique and I fall more and more in love the island.
Our most recent visit to Victoria was in February, a week before the start of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C. We were hoping to avoid the tourists we were sure the games would bring from mainland and we were right. Victoria is its most beautiful in the spring when flower baskets and gardens are in bloom, but even in late winter, with the gray skies and drizzle, it was welcoming with a certain old world charm and modern elegance, something we found in our accomodations at Chateau Victoria.
We were met with friendly curbside service at the ferry dock by the courtesy van and whisked to the hotel not even five minutes away. Because we took the early ferry, we had been ready to just check in our bags and roam downtown until a room was available at the normal check in time but we were provided a room right away. Our one-bedroom suite had a spacious living room, nicely appointed in calming colors and a modern design scheme with a dining area that overlooked a panaroma of downtown buildings and the harbor. The bathroom was roomy, with lovely-smelling Deserving Thyme amenities and in the bedroom, separated from the living room by French doors, was an inviting king-sized bed that had naptime written all over it.
Located in the heart of downtown Victoria, the hotel is just a quick walk (or leisurely stroll if the weather is cooperative) from the Inner Harbour and major attractions like Miniature World, the Parliament buildings, the Royal London Wax Museum, shopping areas like The Bay Centre and Antique Row, with diverse dining options every which way. Victoria's downtown is always bustling, but its eclectic mix of storefronts keep the city blocks quaint and delightful enough that a long day of exploring doesn't seem very long at all.
But if your feet disagree, Chateau Victoria's facilities include a whirlpool and lap pool to take you off your feet and if you're so inclined, in-room spa services are also available. If you're not in the mood to venture out for dinner, the hotel offers room service and houses Vista 18, Victoria's only rooftop restaurant as well as Clive's Lounge. I indulged in room service after my nap and the excellent lemon chicken sandwich lunch was accompanied by the friendliest of service. A convenience kitchen equipped with a microwave, coffee maker and a mini fridge helped our next day start right (along with a filling breakfast from room service). Later that day, while we waited to be taken back to the ferry dock, we soaked in the panoramic view of the city from Vista 18's wine and martini bar and enjoyed a tasty array of tapas plates of edamame, wings, dry cracked pepper ribs, celery root fries and potato sticks.
Whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, Chateau Victoria is an excellent place to stay. With its complimentary internet connection, I was able to get a lot of work done and stay in contactwith associates in the U.S. when my cell phone coverage failed me. I did eschew the comfortable desk for an even more comfortable armchair and ottoman as my workspace. The only negative of the whole stay was a headboard that squeaked at the slightest motion, so a middle of the night trip to the bathroom was as inconspicuous as a choir of cats. But that's truly a small price to pay for the comfort of a pillow top king-size bed, high thread count sheets and a down duvet. From a suite that lacked for nothing to the efficient and accomodating customer service, staying at Chateau Victoria made our quick weekend getaway seem much too short. -

Nice 2 bedroom suite, very clean, classy. Disappointed at how low the bathroom counter is, it is for short people, I have to bend down or water will splash all over when i brush teeth.
The pool is from 5 to 9 feet, not friendly to kids.
Otherwise, with balcony, very clean, close to nice restaurants, nice place to spend a day or 2 while enroute to Buchart garden. -
Review from Yiling W.
Good solid mediocre hotel. The bed seemed terrible, and something mechanical kept turning on and off and making noise in the night --but maybe this was bad just because I split with 3 other people. Anyway, it was a decent place to crash for one night visiting Victoria. The (complimentary) hotel shuttle driver was really nice, offered all kinds of nice advice, and gave us a lift back to the hotel from dinner. The hotel bar was decently tasty too (although of course, it charged hotel calibre prices). Like Douglas L. wrote, this hotel is close to almost everything. It's near the Empress Hotel, parliament, the harbor, the shopping district (check out Johnson Street), It's also close to the bus line going north-south in Victoria which can take you straight to the ferry terminal for less than the fancy coach shuttle the ferry folks may have told you to take to the hotel when you arrived (and only about 10/15 minutes more time).

a good value, especially for a family. We walked to the hotel from the Victoria Clipper in 10 mins. We had a 1 bedroom suite that slept 2 adults and 3 kids very comfortably. In any other hotel, we would have been forced to take 2 rooms. The staff was friendly and gave us great recommendations on restaurants
