In a sea of same-old-same-old, Chapel Hill is a breath of fresh air. I freely admit I love jewel tones, but I bypassed this store for years, thinking it was out of my price range. A sale rack in the fall drew my attention. There was a beautiful blazer made of high-quality material for $50! I thought for sure it would be too small, but it fit. However, the buttons needed repositioning, which the kind owner did for free.
In fact, she custom fits everything in the store. If you try something on and it needs to be altered, that's included with your purchase price. When you consider the prices are only slightly higher than a store like Pseudio in a lot of cases, that's really a steal. The accessories are all reasonably priced.
My style is not flashy enough to buy my whole wardrobe from there, but it's an ideal place to pick up a few high-quality, signature pieces. -

This is a very cute boutique with a whole lot of flashy flash. Faux fur, crinoline dresses, assorted pashminas, bejeweled tops and bobbling jewelry are at maximum capacity. Be prepared.
The front of the shop is dedicated to a large selection of formal dresses and gowns. Understated isn't quite the word... bold colors and sheen satins overlay crinoline puffs. Sequins are plentiful. I wouldn't want to be a bridesmaid in this wedding.
Things calm down a bit towards the back, but the look of adornment maintains throughout. Clothes appear to cater to an older age group of ladies, and those who love over the top bedazzles. The Chapel's space is tasteful and lays out its product quite nicely. A kind selection of bath products are scattered throughout the store, giving things a nice touch. Nicely packaged and giftworthy.
Overall, this shop is kind of a sensory overload. It loves over the top looks and is not for wallflowers. However, the service is sweet and the clothes look to be of high quality. (And were pricey, indeed.) For the right woman, Chapel Hill could be a goldmine. -

Chapel Hill Gift Shop, this is a great store and took me by surprise.
A great selection of dresses, purses and gifts. I would think that a lady in her mid 30 and up would appreciate this shop.
I eyed a few pieces of jewelry, my wish list is getting longer by the week as I find this great places amongst our street of Halifax. -

More bobbles, gifts, bath apparel, frocks and accessories than you could possibly imagine! I actually find the display case quite overwhelming... Less is more Chapel Hill!
This shop markets itself to a middle aged female population (possibly erring towards upper middle aged) based on the sheer volume of stuff!
These dresses are marketed in part based on the fact that they are altered for free to fit your form specifically! Gotta love that. -

First off let me start by saying I do believe it is alright for a male to review a women's clothing store.
1. Because I went with several female friends and interviewed them during the process while also quietly watching and reviewing the staff.
2. The Staff made sure I was having a good time while I hung with my friends.
Chapel Hill has an old fashioned feel to it. They will fit you no matter what size or shape you are which is incredible! I have spent many days clothes shopping with my female friends and have yet to find a store that will successfully do those kinds of alterations the way Chapel Hill does.
The lady that owns the store talked to us and has been in the fashion industry for over 30 years. This explains the amazing fashion sense this woman has. I will admit that I do love fashion and women's fashion. So to be in a store like this was great. It wasn't one of those stores where they think they know fashion or where they will compliment you no matter how you look in that piece of clothing. She is very honest and wants you to look like the best you possibly can.
On top of all of that, they are apparently adding a shoe and accessories section. The pricing is a bit higher for people who don't know fashion but if you check out the construction of the fabric and have a little bit of fashion knowledge, you know you are getting great clothes for very reasonable prices. The Staff are also incredible and worth every penny they make!
I can't say enough great things about this store which is why I give it five stars. My girl friends love this store like it was made out of chocolate so that should say something. -

It is funny what I have discovered since doing Yelp. How many times have I been on Spring Garden and walked right on by but not this time.
WOW, love it the whole store the decor everything. Like a small boutique filled to the rim with girlie stuff and what I found to be great prices. Beautiful treasures from jewelry encased in a wooden counter lining the front to hats that were organic to formal dresses as well as casual. One thing I did notice was sizes were limited but that happens at this kind of store.
As you know I have been looking for a purse for how long now? Well on the floor was a beautiful pink large bag for $80 that I would have purchased but my GF got me a pink guess for my BD which I love but I could not believe it.
This is a MUST and I will be stopping in when I am in the DT area! -

I had no idea Chapel Hill was such a formal-dress haven. I mean, yes the window display does tell me that there is an element of fancy-pants-ness, but for some reason that hadn't registered with me.
I stepped in today off of the cool streets and into a warm, nicely laid out shop. The woman working was quite lovely. We chatted about the weather and then she left me to my own browsing devices. There are jewels at the register in a display case, plus some soy-based candles. On the racks that line the store's walls are a variety of flashy dresses, from short and poofy to long and satiny, with some traditional white wedding gowns in the mix.
You can also find some nifty sweaters and tops. If I was getting my formal on, I think I'd pop into Chapel Hill to test out some of their colorful frocks. -

Are you a middle-aged woman who likes to keep it snazzy? Then this may be your store. The younger crowd is less likely to be impressed, but may find something to take home among the purses, bath products and accessories. The palette is predominantly jewel-toned, and synthetic fabrics abound. Gala ball coming up? Check here for conservative and adventurous dresses alike. Racks of Pashmina shawls make for good pattern browsing and slinky, lingerie-like tanks are tucked away in the back.
