The mood is: pretty chill :)
We came here last weekend for a friend's birthday dinner so we had a group of about 20 people. Things tend to go awry when there's so many people but they were able to get all our requests, give us all separate bills, and didn't impose a preset gratuity fee like most places do for large parties. So I'm pretty impressed with the service at Chaise for the night that we went!
The dishes were pretty simple - pub fare and comfort foods - so things like grilled cheese sandwiches, mac 'n cheese, or you can build your own burger (basic burger for $9 and add $1 for each topping - mushrooms, sauteed onions, jalapeno or banana peppers, cheese, ham, bacon). And they have Caesars on Saturday for $4.95. Pretty awesome :) -

Sooo, turns out finding a Main Street restaurant that'll take a Saturday night dinner reservation for 10 during the holiday season isn't as easy as I thought it might be. With slight variations depending on the location, the conversation I had over and over again throughout the day went a little like this:
Me: "Hi, I'd like to make a reservation for tonight." Host: "Eeehya, uh, for tonight? We're booked with Christmas parties."
OR
Host: "We don't take reservations on weekends / during the holiday season."
OR
Host: "Good luck."
Then finally, like a beacon of Main Street light, Chaise came to the rescue. Not only did they take our last minute reservation for 10 people during the holiday season on a Saturday night, but it was also surprisingly fun and relaxed in the actual restaurant. Nice lighting, good service, standard, but totally decent comfort pub grub... (though, save for a pretty sad selection of salad fare, not much for the glutards of the world. Not that liquid dinners of wine are really a bad thing... right?)
Also, the server was really pretty rad. We didn't even have to ask to have the bills split between us -- like the clever girl she so obviously is, she just did it all on her own.
Word to the wise: share the plates, because they are huuuuge. ALSO: homemade pickles. Yes.Listed in: Main Street Mainstays

It was a bit late and we're hungry. I searched for places open and chase was close enough and not closed. My first impression was this is going to be alright, I read somewhere that it's the same owners as Burgoo; however, I might be mistaken. The restaurant has good lighting, decent bar, televisions with the game on... how could this go wrong?
I don't think we received our water until about 15 min after we sat down. I ordered a club with fries. The club was good, fries were decent but nothing to write home about. When it came time to settle up and pay the bill( this is after our plates we're taken) our server vanished... Did she not want to get paid? My first thought was she went on a break, but after 15 min I came to the conclusion that she forgot completely about us. This was obvious because I saw here flocking to other tables. Good thing I wasn't in any hurry that evening because at this point I was curious how long it's gonna take her to drop our bill. Another 10 min pass, my water is nearing empty and I finally flag her down and ask for our bill. He excuse "I thought it was dropped already".. she then proceeds to explain that she's all alone tonight. Well guess that makes sense, now my frustration is directed at the manager. How does a restaurant let themselves fall short by not having enough staff. If I'm the manager, owner or bartender I'd get out there and help serve tables... at least refill water or drinks!
Sadly my first experience here will most likely be my last. The food was decent, but the service just left a bad taste in my mouth. -

One star for the nice decor, one star for the yummy hummus with pita and tortilla chips... But the food was really terrible. my husband's chicken burger (The Works) was bland and felt like it started as a frozen chicken breast. Very ordinary fries. My seafood linguini was drowning in its pesto sauce and the seafood was grey and tasteless. Not often do we fail to finish our meal, but we just couldn't eat more of that. We cleaned our palates with respectively a McDonald's sundae and East is East smoothie from across the street, and regretted our experience.
On the flipside, service was nice and quick, and the decor is cool. I would go there for appies and drinks, but never again for dinner. -

Not a bad place for lunch. The service was a bit slow and food was slightly bland. This is your standard pub-fare but with caviar prices. Don't go here looking for a smile from your server, they apparently just want to do their 8 and hit the gate.

Not much to add, aside from concurring with previous reviewers.
A GREAT little place on South Main ~30th. Free street parking if you can find it. A narrow place, bar on one side, bar on the other. Parking out back as well!
Food, beer, atmosphere (wasn't meant to rhyme but...)
What more can you ask! -

I stopped in here for brunch today with some girlfriends. The restaurant is small but has a nice unique feel to it, we really wanted to sink our lazy asses into a booth but unfortunately they were all occupied by seniors and we got stuck at the highchairs in the lounge.
2 of us got the eggs benedict B.A.T (Bacon, Avocado, Tomato) and our friend got chicken strips. I got my benny without meat and they actually offered to substitute something (a nice change consider I always end up paying for meat which I don't eat and opt out of and then I get charged for any substitutions) so I opted to add feta cheese which was no extra cost.
Our coffee tasted only moderately fresh but still had nice flavor. All our food was good and the prices were reasonable. Although the food was good I had higher hopes, potatoes tastes a bit stale, avocado had a lot of brown in it and the hollandaise coulda used a little more of a citrus-sy kick!
The staff were friendly and attentive and everyone there other then us seemed like regulars so they must be doing something right! -
Review from Roanna Z.
I guess I'm just sweet on Chaise. It's so casual but with flare, the interior style pleases me with it's rotating artwork, the bar is cute, the service is polite and helpful.
The dishes are prepared nicely with good value for your dollar, and most are usually very tasty. Tonight though, the chicken was over cooked in both the Souvlaki and the half roast. It was too bad, but we didn't return our dishes, we just enjoyed what we could of them. Both the fish & chips and the Cajun baked cod looked awesome! (and were enjoyed tremendously!)
The meals took a long time to come out and we were comped a delicious hummus plate while we waited which was totally nice of them. (and the humus was *WOW* garlic!) It was really busy and I guess everyone had come in at once. So, just like you forgive a friend for their occasional transgressions, I forgive Chaise.
It's really nice to see a place so busy, even on a Tuesday night!1 Previous Review: Show all »

I stopped by Chaise Lounge with a friend for dinner one night. We were seated by the big chalkboard which had tons of specials on it.
We both ordered Long Island's which were strong but still tasted like coke, just the way I like it. My friend ordered the beef dip which comes with a mound of fries and coleslaw ($8) and I had the prime rib, which is served with mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, and grilled vegetables ($15).
The beef dip sandwich was huge, and my friend said it was pretty yummy. My beef dip was done medium, a little more done than I like but it still tasted good. The mashed potatoes were creamy and rich, but the yorkshire pudding was really bad. I thought ordering a side of gravy would help mask the taste of cardboard, but alas, it didn't. However, I don't think our server charged me for the add-on gravy, which was great.
There's tons of options on the menu that look enticing, so despite my lackluster yorkshire pudding, I would like to come back and try something different.
Prices for food are super reasonable, however, their drinks are a bit more expensive. Service was fine, nothing extraordinary. Another good food option on Main St. -

Not going to lie, I have never eaten here.
However on my last trip to Vancouver, my friend and I found ourselves looking for a place to grab a drink and watch the end of the football game + some sports highlights.
The beer was reasonably priced, the service was friendly and prompt but not overwhelming and in your face. Interior was nice, and they fit a lot of little tables in that joint without it feeling cramped.
Looking at the reviews I now wish I'd eaten here. But I will go back for sure and give the food a whirl!! -

Dropped in last week for a good Saturday night lounging, there was a Yelp event here before so the Yelpers gave it a thumbs up. And yes I really liked the atmosphere.
I didn't eat as we already ate earlier that night. But we stayed here drinking beers and gin tonics til closing, I wished they could stay open later I think this is a great place to chill out. Will try the food next time!
PRICE: Fair-priced drinks and the 1516 is on special Saturday $4.75.
SERVICE: Was great, couple of my friends had the mud pie and they said it was good. Our waitress was always there to keep our drinks full.
SUGGEST: If you feel like a laid back night out with friends, this place is it. I also saw they had a wings special yum. Gotta try that. -

Chaise is my favorite hangout on Main Street.
The place:
Cool, relaxed ambiance, tastefully decorated, unpretentious
The service:
Friendly and spot-on. Everything arrives quickly, exactly as you ordered it, and with a smile. I don't think I've ever had a server forget anything I've asked for (and I'm somewhat difficult - more lemon wedges, hot sauce, extra napkins...)
The drinks:
Drink prices are somewhat lower that other places along Main St. and they have very good daily specials.
The food:
Awesome. Really. I guess it could be described as pub food that's really kicked up a notch.
-Specials: The daily features here are AMAZING for both quality and price. Definitely the best bet I know of in the 'hood. Much cheaper than other pub/restaurants on Main. The specials vary daily but I've had soup and a (huge) sandwich for $7, seafood pasta with salad and garlic bread for $11 and 35c perogies. They used to do 35c gyozas too but haven't seen that one for awhile. I hope they bring it back, that was my fave! (UPDATE - went back recently and they're baaaack, yay! Only on certain days though, like the perogy & the wings specials.) Loads of other great specials that I can't remember offhand.
Portions are generous and I've very rarely had food there that wasn't above average. They have a great appy deal too, any 3 for $19. Big portions and the potato skins are the best I've had in years - perfectly crispy. The fried calamari is also very good, which was a pleasant surprise. It's easy to screw up calamari and it tends to be rubbery in many places. Not here - it's cooked to perfection. One thing I LOVE about the food here is the dips. I hate going out, ordering appies & having to pay a fortune (or anything at all, really) for the dips that come with the food. Nachos, potato skins, chicken wings, calamari... all need to be served with dips. Chaise RULES here: everything comes with the dip it needs, and it's inlcuded! Everywhere needs to do this. Also the dip portions are huge, not those tiny metal things that are empty in a minute then you have to pay for more. Also Chaise's dips are often homemade to boot. The only average things I've eated at Chaise are the macaroni (a bit bland - needs to be kicked up a notch. Gorgonzola would likely do the trick here) and the spanakopita which was average. Everything else has been great.
Great spot to grab a bite, chill with friends or watch the game. -

I came here over a year ago so my review is aged a bit. All i can remember is the nuts and mac and cheese.. two of my favourite things were delicious. I haven't gone back though oddly. Maybe it's time so i can write a proper review.
I liked the location and setting, seems like a great date place. -

Another dinner courtesy of my slow-going kitchen reno!
I knew that there had been a yelp elite event here recently and thought it'd be nice to try it out myself.
To be honest I thought I wouldn't get as good service or food since I wasn't there under the 'yelp' umbrella, but boy was I wrong!
I called ahead on this particular night just to see if there was a line up, the man on the phone said the wait would be 30-45 minutes so I kindly requested to be put on the waiting list and asked them to call me if the table happened to be available before I arrived.
On the way there we got a call that the table was available and though it was a good 15 minutes before we actually got to the restaurant at that point, our table was waiting for us with a reserved sign on it.
This is how attentive the staff were:
-Water glasses were given to us quickly and never were empty past the halfway point.
-When we started to get low on our drinks (a beer and a pimm's cup) we were asked if we would like another
This is how good the food was:
-The bouillabaisse special of the evening was chock-ful of scallops, clams, mussels and tender pieces of salmon. The broth was laden with fresh parsley and SO good--especially for dipping the toasted bread with hint of garlic in
-The cobb salad was amazingly well put together. It had the largest pieces of blue cheese I've ever seen in a cobb salad--husband couldn't stop raving about how delicious the salad was.
This is how good the value was:
-My bouillabaisse special was $14 and the cobb salad was $12! What a wonderful price point for such delicious food and great service in a quaint atmosphere!
We will definitely be coming back to Chaise! -

Can you be sophisticated while scarfing down mac and cheese? Mais oui!
And I'll take a bad ass burger done medium, appreciate being asked! And wait, is that-- no -- OMG, is that a housemade pickle on top? Next time, I'm asking for that times two! With crunchy fries served up with "damn near perfect" mayo -that's what their menu describes it as, I was one fully bellied betsy! If I could send one bit of improvement to the chef, I could have used a bit more tang in my mayo, but everything else - spot on.
For atmosphere, price, service and a pimms-perfect-cup, I'll come out of my way to satisfy carb cravings. Awesome fat wedge of cucumber in my cup too - thanks for that crunchy touch!
PS. Fully bellied betsy here definitely had to share plates. The mac and cheese is rich and dense, split for two along with a half of burger were the absolute perfect amount of food!
PPS. (This is mostly for Rachael T) They have apple pie! But I was full and couldn't indulge - but there's always next time. -

The food was amazing!!! The potato skins as mentioned was divine, steak bites soft and beautifully seasoned and the boyfriends prime rib sammy went over very well. I wouldn't suggest the calimari and our food took an hour to arrive but they were super busy and the server kept drinks on the table. I will most certainly be back!!

The brunch here is delicious! It's the perfect place for a "catch up" session with friends, siblings, or cousins! The coffee is okay, but my crab meat Benny would have been perfect with a mimosa! The Benny itself was delicious. The meat was real! (And I love real meat!) The eggs were perfect! The hashbrowns were amazing! I finished everything on my plate. It's the perfect serving size because we were definitely full after it. Though, their dessert options sounded tempting.
I'm surprised the place wasn't busier for a Sunday afternoon. It is certainly a welcome establishment in the Main St. community. The ingredients are of good quality. The style suits Main St. And the prices are quite reasonable. ($12 for a crab benny with a decent portion of crab meat!).
I will be back! -

Mrs. Meal Ticket and I dine here every second Monday as part of a group and we haven't been disappointed at all.
Our little group were regulars at the Penny Lane Pub down the road at 41st and Main until it closed and we were left adrift seeking another hole with bellies to fill and sorrows to drown. Face it, the Penny Lane was the pub equivalent of a greasy spoon. The place was fighting a losing battle against encroaching dinginess, but the pints were cheap, the menu selection varied and the food above par (most of the time) -- enough for us to keep coming back.
Imagine our relief when we discovered that the owners of Penny Lane had become part owners of Chaise just recently!
We've never been to Chaise Lounge prior to the ownership shift, but we like what we've seen so far. The place seems to have originally been destined to become another joint cashing in on the new "hipness" of Main Street to attract the fashionably young and beautiful, but the infusion of Penny Lane ownership has introduced positives of the old place and taken away any burgeoning pretentiousness. Yes, the menu has been revamped with the addition of more conventional pub fare, but it's pub fare done very well and quite reasonably priced. Where else can you get a steak special consisting of a buttery-tender 8oz steak done to order, your choice of fries or loaded bake potato and a side of fresh veggies or coleslaw all for under $10?
Service is good as each server seems to remember entire orders completely by memory. Our usual server flitted efficiently from table to table dispensing smiles and drinks. Washrooms are, I'm happy to report, very clean and well stocked.
The decor is well thought out and not intrusive to the dining experience. In fact, it's downright comfortable, clean, attractive and pleasant with a splash of hip thrown in.
All in all, it's enough for us to keep comin' to Chaise again and again. -

Well...the food was good...had yam fries (make sure to order them extra crispy). Had terry-okie Wings ...yummmmers....BUT....the waitress with the bangs is a super snob and she is rude. Very disapointed in her, I tried hard to be personable, she didnt.

Ahh another Main st Gem. I have no idea when Chaise opened, but decided to stop in after spotting it while driving past.
I had the meat loaf and my dining partner had the pork. The meat loaf was very flavorful! It had a good consistency. Like biting into a real piece of meat!
We also started with the ceviche, which was very very tasty, abit a smaller portion (we were sharing however). I would recommend this.
We were here on a Saturday night and got a seat walking in around 8:00, but by the time we left it was almost full. I Will definitely be back. -

I stumbled upon the Chaise Lounge website while looking for a hip place around Main Street to go for dinner/drinks. Right away the menu caught my eye...Lobster Club? Macaroni and Cheese? What's not to love?
Fast forward several months later and I finally had a chance to check it out.
Located where the old Wing Nutz used to be, it is definitely a 'hidden gem'. Intimate, dark lighting - perfect for either a date or a dinner with a few friends. Don't expect a lot of space, but then again - who needs it?
We ordered the poutine (how can you go wrong with Poutine), croquettes (they were a bit dry), and a crisy Salmon salad which was delicious! The drink menu was good enough for a Friday night. Our decision to save room for dessert was the smartest choice of the night! We ordered the special - Rocky Road Bread Pudding. Wow. I think it was a feature dessert, and not on the menu - but Chaise - if you are reading, if you know what's good for you - ADD THIS TO YOUR REGULAR MENU! :)
Good food. Good drinks. Good value. -

A stylish, funky diner newcomer on Main st without the hour long waits.
Loved the decor, red chandeliers with crystal ball drops.. dark wood interior, modern black facade with very cool signage.
The food is high quality American-style comfort food.. with some exceptions like poutine and ceviche appetizers. With menu item names like "Bad Ass Burger" and "Mean Weiners" it's hard not to be intrigued.
Prices are reasonable and they've got daily specials that are great value. We enjoyed a large plate of truffle mac n' cheese with a glass of house red for $15 as one of their specials. Also the poutine $7 was quality - fluffy, crispy fries.. tasty gravy and properly melted cheese curds. Rotating dessert specials - always featuring a "Diner Pie" and a Chocolate dessert of some sort. Last night's included a chocolate cheese cake and a bumbleberry crumble, topped with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream.
They also serve gimlets - how retro and Julie/Julia Project is that? -

Changed owners, food has gone downhill.
Apparently the owners of the Penny Lane Pub have taken over, and revamped the menu. So essentially they went from trendy comfort food to terrible pub fare. The upside is that it's much cheaper, the downside is that bad food is bad food no matter how cheap.
I had the works burger - it was bland and overcooked. C'mon people, a good burger ain't complicated. My wife had the beef dip, and it didn't sit well. She spend the rest of the night lying on the couch cursing the fact that one of the closest restaurants to us is pretty sucky.
On the upside, R&B on tap, nice room and great servers. I sincerely hope they get the kitchen in order, but won't be checking in anytime soon. -

After reading other Yelper's reviews my best friend and I had to check this eatery out. One word really sums up our experience - Delicious!!!
I had the Mac & Cheese - it was perfect for one hungry person. Rich and creamy with just the right amount of cheese baked to a yummy golden brown on the top. My best friend had the burger which was gigantic. Service was fabulous and at the very end we split the chocolate cheesecake - OMG, so so good. Definitely a good place to go for dinner and dessert. I think they have a breakfast type menu on the weekends too - can't wait to go back on the weekend and try the bennys here.
BONUS: Huge windows allow for great people watching along Main street! -

It's all good.
We live south of 41st, and often go up main to have a bite and drink. The chaise lounge has been one of our favourites after returning from a five year sojourn abroad last fall.
I like the reuben. I like the lambie shanks. I like the wine. I like the free wifi. Like Like Like. The atmosphere was lovely. They are nice to my six year old (who isn't hard to be nice to...likes the grilled cheeze without the ham).
Okay i have to say something nasty....the breakfast was a bit simple for my taste.

I've been here twice recently and It's becoming a local fav of mine. I especially love their daily specials and will even drive by every few days to check out the sign they have on the sidewalk, just incase it tickles my fancy :) My most recent experience was their Blue Cheese Burger and Fries ($8) *LOVED* it! The service was just okay but nothing to really complain about. Can't wait to go back, maybe tonight, I notice the special is the Beef Deep...I might possibly be there tnite :)

We went for brunch the weekend before Christmas. It has a funky take on the dinner ambiance with a great brunch comfort food menu with benny, bad ass burger, poutine, etc. We asked for the dinner menu and we were pleased to see mac 'n cheese, pork chop and meatloaf. We said to each other we should come back with friends for dinner.
Our Caesars were good and the service was friendly. Everything was going fine except when the food arrived. The "scramblette" was really too oily and the poutine gravy had glob of brown sauce. Overall it was a disappointing execution on what could have been a great brunch.
Reading the other reviews, I'm willing to give it a chance for dinner. Maybe on that weekend their chef was eager to go Christmas shopping... -

I went here on Friday night with a workmate for drinks at 5. The place was quiet full, but it wasn't overy noisy which meant it was perfect for conversation. The service was very good. We didn't eat but had a hummus/dips platter which was so big that we cancelled dinner plans. Very clean and tidy, I would totally come here with friends or on a date. Will be back for sure.

I've been meaning to check out Chaise Lounge again since hearing it had switched ownership. It's been busy every time I've passed by, so that's still a good sign! As my partner and I passed by again we noticed the special was a Blue Cheese Burger and Fries for $8. Combined with the Caesar drink special, we were sold! The new menu is a little less trendy, but the prices were very reasonable. Some of the old items are still available like the Lamb Shank, but I hope it's still the same! The Blue Cheese Burger was great with a good amount of Blue Cheese, but not overwhelming. The Caesar was good and not lacking alcohol, but I wish Pimm's Cup was still on the menu. I was going to deduct a star for slow service, but we had a good time and enjoyed our food and drinks. There was only one bartender and one server for a full restaurant, but they were friendly when they were present. I hope this was just an off night because I still really like it here!
