Who knew Coquitlam would have such a GEM!!!

I came here for dinner one night with the Mr a couple months ago and I couldn't believe at how great this little place is!  I was super impressed by the service and food...hard to have both nowadays don't you think?! LOL

Anyways, I don't know if we were lucky..but we managed to get the last 2 seater in the resto on a Friday night.  From the outside I knew it looked small..but until you walk in there...small is turned into SUPER small.  I think the resto can only seat about..20~ people so if you're planning on coming here with a group..MAKE RESERVATIONS!  HOwever, I liked the coziness and the decor made me feel...really calm if that makes any sense.  Maybe it was the yellow walls..or the perfect amount of lighting..I don't know.

For food: we ordered a green chicken curry, fish cakes, and pad thai.  I noticed someone mentioned about the price being a little steep---that I can agree to, very comparable to restos I frequently eat at in YT.  I don't mind paying a bit more if the quality/taste is there + the portions are VERY generous.  Worth it.

I've been to Thailand before, as well as dined at authentic thai places over the world so I feel I have a good background on what thai food should taste like..and this was spot on!!   The green chicken curry (my must have at any thai resto) was delish and had the right amount of spice.  Pad thai, now some places I find can make it OVERLY sweet...but Chada Thai has a nice balance between sweet/salty.  The 2 tastes never overbear one another which is great.  Fishcakes were good...but I think this was the only thing I was a little meh on.  Didn't super excite me but they weren't terrible either.

Service.  Grade A.  Waiters/Hosts were constantly checking up on us to refill waters and get whatever we needed.  And by constantly, I don't mean every second but enough to never have us be the first to request something and they aren't overly pushy.  The manager is always walking around to make sure the resto is running smoothly and will ask for feedback at the end of each meal.

I really enjoyed Chada Thai and would recommend it as a must try.

I am insanely picky about Thai food. I've traveled around Thailand and even taken traditional cooking lessons there! That being said, I really love the food at Chada Thai. I used to find any excuse to share the restaurant with friends- it's the kind of food that begs you to have more dinner-as your desert! yum yum yum.....

The happy story took a turn, however, after a visit with my fiance. The service was great, and he absolutely loved the food as much as I did. We each wished we could stay there, enjoying the flavors all night although as soon as we got to the car, he started to itch and broke out in hives over the blood vessels on the inside of his wrists. We both know this is how he reacts to exposure to MSG because his parents cook with it sometimes and will admit to it after he has a reaction. :( We were both very disappointed because we want so badly to keep eating there but don't want to have to ask about MSG or wonder if he's going to leave with hives again.

Even writing about it makes me feel sad...I'm so in love with the food!

    :(

My Pad Kee-Mow was fantastic but my biggest problem with this place is that they charge the same price for tofu as they do prawn.  That is crazy!!  Everywhere else, tofu and veggie dishes are always cheaper.

A lot of people choose veg options for ethical, environmental and health reasons. Charging them extra is like punishing them for that choice when it's the most sustainable choice of all.  When you give it the same price as prawn (the worst of all meats), you are sending the wrong message.  Until they change this pricing policy, I can't go back or even recommend this to anyone.

I've been here 5 time and loved it every single time..
    Good authentic THAI favours!
    Great  Service!!
    Lunch has great specials.
Dinner is a little more pricey compared to other Thai restaurants I've been to, but you can taste the difference (=
The location is small so I recommend making reservations any day of the week.

MUST TRY: Pad Thai, any of the curry TOM YUM SOUP

The staff was very friendly, inviting us in 5 minutes before the place was due to close. We ordered Pad Kee Mao, Phad Thai, and Tom Yum Soup.

The Pad Kee Mao was quite tasty, although it did need a bit more sauce and brocolli.  I ordered the 5 spicy, but barely had a tingle on my tongue. I would say it was probably a 2 spicy equivalent.  I would order it again if I was in town, but it definitely doesn't stack up to King and I's PKM.

The Phad Thai was very sweet and a little tangy, more so than most places. Even with a slightly different flavor, the missus and I really liked it. Again, very low spice rating, we ordered a 3 and it was non-existent.  Huge portion though, that's a bonus. And lots of ground peanuts.

The Tom Yum soup was the star of the meal, simultaneously being both very spicy and tangy at the same time.  Lots of mushrooms, chicken, lemongrass stalks, and basil brought out a very flavorful soup. Tasted like it had been simmering all day, just like it should!

Great to find a thai place in such a small town...the Tom Yum stole the show, while the Phad Thai and Pad Kee Mao would be able to hold their own against most city joints.

I'd really like to try some other dishes here the next time I am in the area.

Thai food in Vancouver pretty much matches the infamous temperamental weather. I have yet to find a consistently good quality Thai place in the GVRD.

This place was packed when we arrived and I believe the culprit may have been the G-word. Dear Groupon. I think the 1500 sold may be stressing this place out a bit. The staff sure showed it.

Service was a little spotty as she forgot to enter an order and was not very attentive.

Turns out the Summer Rolls aren't fried but are just salad rolls which I never like. Flavour only came from the satay sauce.

Pad Thai was OK. Chicken with black pepper sauce and veggies was OK as well.

Prices are the highest I've seen for Thai food, so value isn't great. However, the three of us were pretty full sharing the three dishes. Not that I didn't top up with chicken nuggets after dinner at The One.

Would I drive 1hr to get here again. Me say no.

I love this place, and ive had lunch there a few times. I always ask for my food to be prepared spicy, and they never disappoint me. They are a bit pricey $11 lunch special, but the quantiy and quality the provide make it worth the money. My mouth waters just thinkin about this place.

If you want a cheap $5 lunch go to tacobell next door and eat junk food.

    The green curry was excellent!
I probably won't order the stuffed chicken wings again. Same with the fish cakes. They were good but I prefer the bold flavours of Thai food and these starters are more subtle.
The restaurant was clean. We went on a week day for dinner and didn't have to wait for a seat.
    We'll be back.

Oh so good! The best, best Thai restaurant in the metro Vancouver area. I fell in love with this place the first time I tried it and have not ventured to another Thai restaurant since. This one has won my heart.  When I crave Thai, I'm off to Chada Thai.

Note that this restaurant does get busy on the weekends as it is small and highly recommend making a reservation. During the week you will have no problems with getting a table as it is much slower.

This small, cute restaurant was really nice! Went with a few other couples and had a great meal. The decor is nice, and the food is tasty. our friends (who are regulars) said the food would be so spicy we would cry. We love spicy food and ordered as hot as they could make it, but I would say it was medium at best. The presentation here is beautiful, and the owner came out and chatted with us for a bit. Worth the drive in my opinion!

Great thai food, In fact I would rate this as one of the best thai restaurants in the lower mainland. The dishes are well thought out, tasty and the ingredients are always fresh.

The service is good and they pay attention to the little details (cucumber water for example). The restaurant itself is small and cozy so it can be busy at times but it's a nice atmosphere.

Why 4 stars instead of 5? It's a tad on the pricey side but don't that deter you, just know that going in.

On a sad note, the genius behind this place, Brian Marchesi, passed away last year. I only can hope that his vision remains in tact and they are able to honour his legacy by continuing to serve fresh quality products.

Coconut soup is highly recommended, however the restaurant is tiny so it's quite tight. Service is not so good either which is why it only got 3 out of 5 stars.

They have the best Thai food ever ! Full of flavors & actually spicy thai food.. spicy !

Their food is just... you have to try it

The interior of the restaurant is nice - their food is nice

staff there are OK as well

but when they first opened few years ago, they charged $7.99 for lunch specials - now they've moved the price up to $10.99 :(

if you are going there for dinner, plan on spending at least $20 per person without drinks/alcohol

Everything is perfect except for the prices - if they'd lower it a wee bit, I'd come back right away and give them that last star

Edit: my review is based on pre-groupon Chada Thai... just fyi

won't be going back here again. High prices for tasty small food. Also tables very small and tight together.

Don't know how I missed this on the menu but just about choked when the bill came. Chada Thai Grilled Chicken
5-spices grilled chicken, served with fried rice
and tamarind sauce 25.99 WOW!! this is a chicken leg/ thigh on a large mound of lovely tasty fried rice. Very expensive chicken

also one of our appetizer was the Pan-Seared Tiger Prawns
Marinated in chili and garlic lime sauce, with a green apple salad
11.99. Again this was well flavoured but this was two jumbo prawns split in half and grilled. not worth it.

Pad thai and summer rolls very good but not worth a return trip, even with a groupon. So still on the look out for good Thai food at a reasonable price in our area. this is NOT it.

I'm not usually excited when my car needs some fixing up--but when I can try out a restaurant I've been meaning to get to for over a year--little car, you can keep on squeaking!

Showed up solo during the business lunch rush (read: full house!) and was served cucumber infused water (nice touch!) and a clear broth with spinach right away. Great service!

The lunch menu is simple - one page - all $10 and all served with the soup, rice and crispy wraps (delish!) My chicken basil was fabulous. I devoured the entire bamboo-basily thing!

They don't offer take-out at dinnertime, but it's fair game at lunch.

It's a surprisingly good find in a plaza overrun with chains (2 Starbucks, a KFC, Mr Mikes, Bread Garden) and I wish it existed back when I lived in this 'hood.

One of the better places for Thai food around. Yummy and served on white plates in a modern atmosphere.

Food: Menu is just the right size with traditional fair and new takes on Thai food.
i.Heart: Chada Thai rolls (the sauce is deeeelicious).

Atmosphere: Smaller restaurant with 5-6 tables. High ceilings with dark signature trendy colours (merlot and black paint) and displays of fine Thai art.

Butt: The disclaimer ("must spend 15/person or will charge you more money") on the back of the menu turned me off though. Since then I haven't gone back (bad customer service permanently inked on your menu *shakes head in disappointment*), not worth the drive.

I love this place though I don't come back as often as I would like. I like their green curry and cashew chicken. I love the flavor of basil and eggplant.. So yummy... The dinner price is pretty high but you do get your value. The service is fast and curteous. The lunch is much more affordable. They would do so well somewhere in Vancouver but then I don't want to lose the neighborhood gem!

We visited Chada Thai the other night (using a groupon). This is a place that I had wanted to try for awhile due to some decent reviews and we were hoping to find an enjoyable Thai meal closer to home.  When I purchased the groupon I had checked out the menu and I was a little taken aback at the prices (I would estimate the prices are about 25% more expensive than similar establishments) but decided it was worth a try. I would be willing to pay the prices if the food and the dining experience was enjoyable.

We started with the fish cakes which tasty enough. I had the yellow curry with prawns and my husband had the pad mee kow. My curry had a decent level of spice and ample prawns but it was a little short on the vegetables including the potatoes (my favorite part of a yellow curry). The husband's noodles had a nice flavor but were not nearly as spicy even though we both ordered medium. He also commented that the dish was a little on the too oily side.

The restaurant itself is about the most crowded setup I have ever experienced. Our table by the window stared out onto the parking lot of a taco bell so unfortunately the restaurant doesn't score many points for atmosphere. The service was good.

Overall I would say that while the food was decent enough the over crowded setup and over priced food don't warrant a return trip.

(I hope groupon hasn't spoiled this place but I agree with the other reviewer that you can definitely sense it is a stressor for the servers)

Boyfriend and I came here with a couple of friends for dinner on New Years Eve. We had no problems getting seats and the service was fine even though the restaurant was busy. Noticed a LOT of people came in to get take out though.

We were given menus and water was refilled without asking. From what I recall others ordered, their curries are okay. The skewers were good. The salad was bad. My boyfriend ordered the yellow curry with rice. I thought it was decent with a good portion size. I ordered a pad thai with a tofu substitute instead of the meat. It was pretty good, not super saucy and presented nicely. What made me only give the food three stars was that they put a cole slaw mix on the side of my dish. Who puts coleslaw on a pad thai dish? I would rather they take out that part and put more noodles in, yeesh. It looked like they took it out of the prepackaged salads. My dish was a good portion size, not to the point where I have to take some of it home. None of us bothered with appies or desserts.

Nice touches: the water had cucumber slices in it. Gave it a more refreshing taste I found.. but some people didn't like it. They should have asked and warned before doing that. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. Dimly litted, nicely painted, great Thai decorations hanging around and statues too.

Warning: their washrooms apparently are really hot. I quote one of my friends coming back and saying, "Oh my god, it feels like a 100 degrees in there." I have no idea why.

Passing this place so many times but didn't pay much attention until reading their reviews on yelp . I ordered for take out . Beef curry and pad thai . Let 's me tell you they are the best thai food I ever tried ; the pad thai is just so delicious that I want another bowl , same with the curry . The only one star that i have to take off is that their price is kinda high ... I wish they lowered the prices alittle bit . Anyway it's my favorite place for thai food from now on /. My wife and I got an opportunity to dine here a couple months back without the kids - our daughter has a peanut allergy.

The Pad Thai was phenomenal! I can't remember the name of the other dish. Just the right amount of heat! We were provided with fresh peppers to sprinkle onto the Pad Thai if required. Both dishes we ordered were more than adequate for the 2 of us. I was hoping to try dessert but couldn't eat another mouthful. Next time..... Yes, you definitely read it right! We will definitely be going back to try some different dishes, perhaps in the winter time and I will make room for dessert!

The decor was very Thai. Atmosphere is very romantic. Restaurant is small but very well laid out making it comfortable.

Waiter was very attentive. Service was great! They would definitely not have any problems keeping the restaurant filled even if it was larger.

Highly recommend for authentic Thai food with heat.

I'm a little sad after going here for lunch today.  I was really looking forward to it, but they have put up their prices.  On top of HST this made my meal far too expensive for a lunch outing on my own.  It's now $10.99 for lunch specials, plus they charge an extra dollar if you want tofu, which I did.  Why they charge the same to substitute tofu as they do for prawns is beyond me.  Then my Thai Iced Tea, while tasty, was not very large and was $3.99!  Ouch, that just hurt my wallet.  Sad to say, that even though the food was good, it wasn't worth $20 for lunch, including my tax and tip.

Great little find in the middle of the strip mall. Staff were great, very engaging and prompt. Food was fresh, very tasty at a price point that is less than the Tacobell across from it. It does tend to get busy - but I can see why - some of the best Thai in the lower mainland and great people serving it.
