Not a great experience.  We arrived late and had to check in at another hotel's desk.  The room itself was well out of date.  We had sheets that were literally torn and tattered, an air conditioner that was 30 years old and could not cool the room and a 30 year old refrigerator that never worked or got cold.  No ice machine available.  There were minimal windows to open to get a cool breeze and to keep one window open we had to shove a chair underneath it.  Most of the time there is no staff around to address these concerns.  They were there however to scold us for checking out a bit late on our last day.  We walked past some rooms that appeared to have more modern appliances, but overall it appears this establishment is trying to provide as little service as possible and rake in cash from hapless tourists who made a reservation.  Generally I would not complain much if it were a budget option but this was one of the more expensive hotels we stayed in on our time in Canada being about $156 Canadian (including tax) per night.  You are paying for location as this hotel is caddy corner from the Governor's Garden, almost within a stone's throw of Le Château Frontenac.  But, Quebec City is easily walkable and I would highly recommend to people to save some cash and stay outside the old city walls where prices are more reasonable and you are likely to get a more modern space and better service for your money.
