In 2006 my beloved Scooter was ill, the vet in Surrey I had been seeing for most of Scooters life refused to cross the bridge to euthanize my Scooter at home, in his environment.  After 19 years with him I couldn't bare to take him to a Vet office to do this sad deed.  I phoned around to all the local vets and no one was willing to help, because I wasn't a previous customer.  When I phoned Central City, the doctor was willing to come to my home, without even knowing me to do this sad deed in my home for me.  I decided that day all my beings deserved to have someone in their life that actually cared for them.
Since that sad day in 2006 I have been seeking the service of Central City.  Dr. Dhaliwal is one of the most ethical people I have meet.  The team he has with him including long time employee Nicki have reassured me that my furry friends are well taken care of and that some people do their job not just for the pay check but because they believe in what they do.
I could never say enough kind or good things about things about Dr. Dhaliwal and his support team.
All my furry friends especially my Penelope who needs constant care due to being a medical rescue thrive because of the service from Central City Animal Hospital.

So this past Monday my puppy went in for his femoral head excision surgery.  We took him in first thing in the morning so that he could get comfortable and sedated properly before the operation.  When we called at 5:30 about how it all went we were more than pleased with the service we got.  They asked us not to show up until 8:15pm, they close at 8pm but stayed open, just so our  little man could get a bit more rest.

When we got there everything we needed to know was explained to us but as any concerned parents there were questions we had once we got home and guess what, they were still there and answered no problem.

I will say there was no amount of warning that could have prepared us for last night, his first night home, as he was in a lot of pain.  When we called the vet today we were reassured that all was ok and that we were doing everything right.

Essentially this new vet has been there every step of the way for the first day of post operative care and I can only imagine that it will keep getting better with a personal touch.

I will keep you updated on the whole post operative process as it's essential when others are looking for a vet themselves.

Update 1:  I can't be more happy with this vet.  I know I have said this loads of times and I won't be able to stop saying this.  This past week I have called the vet numerous times because I was like a bear with a sick cub.  What has been such a relief is that when I had a question Dr. Dhaliwal actually came on the phone and answered the question without sounding exasperated.  Usually it's the assistant that asks the Dr. my question and the relays the information.  Not here.  Not this Dr.

Update 2: Went this week to get the pooches stitches out.  Everything is healing nicely and he prescribed another 10 days of pain meds so that he will use his leg more than he is.  They aren't knock you out pain meds but just enough to make him feel more confident and it's worked.  We also got our other pooches annual vaccinations and he didn't charge us an exam fee.  Just the vaccinations.  All in all we are ohhh so happy.

Update 3: The pooch is doing fantabulous!  He can run, jump on the bed and is all around happy.  He still needs some healing but he's back to his puppy self and it's only been about 2 months.  I would recommend Dr. Dhaliwal to everyone who will listen.

I just switched to this vet a few months ago after trying many in the lower mainland, and I have to say they are the best I've found in or out of the city. I live downtown and drive 30 minutes to get there. It's completely worth it.

A few months ago my dog had a cough. They examined him thoroughly and prescribed some medication which was very reasonable. A week later they saw him again for a free checkup.

More recently I took my dog there for some dental work. They had to put my dog under and they treated him with great care, keeping him late so that he could stay warm and recover. And my dog is only 4 pounds, very fragile! But they were great with him. They explained everything completely, were totally upfront about all the costs involved and the breakdown and were very reasonable. The procedure cost about half of what I had been quoted elsewhere. And my dog feels great!

My beagle got very ill about two years ago, I took him to a local Veterinary clinic in Vancouver, which shall not be named, and to cut a long story short my dog nearly died because this Vet was so slow in diagnosing my dog (turns out he had diabetes).., eventually in frustration I took my dog to an emergency Vet who managed to get him through the night. The next morning I took my dog to Central City Animal hospital. Thank goodness I did, because over the next week, Dr Dhaliwal managed to bring my dog's blood sugar levels out of the danger zone and back to normal. 2 years later, my beagle is still doing well.

I also have a Great Dane who was 10 years old. He has lots of growths on his body, but there was one on his front leg that grew very big very quickly.
Dr Dhaliwal was amazing... he managed to cut the lump out, even though it was very close to the bone. My dog was out of surgery the same day.
The biopsy showed that the lump was cancerous (Grade 1 sarcoma), and Dr Dhaliwal warned me that it may recur because it is impossible to cut with a buffer zone around it, since it is right against the bone. Nevertheless Dr Dhaliwalk did a fantastic job and my Great Dane is still doing well at 11.5 years now.

Even though I live about 25minutes from Central City Animal Hopsital, I still go there.. says a lot.

My husband and I drive to Burnaby from the Sunshine Coast including the price of the car on the ferry, Dr. Dhaliwal costs about half as much as our local vet.  He is compassionate, gentle, intelligent and explains everything carefully.  He is such a caring vet who also works for Big Heart REscue.  This is a great veterinary clinic!!
