My brother had his reception here and it was not a flawless process by any means. They have about 7 rooms for events and almost all of them were full so there was people everywhere. One groups cocktail hours was in the lobby which was awkward that you had to walk through it to get to other areas of the hotel.
They were also host a high school baseball tournament, which lead the hotel to being sold out. There was not a lot of space to park each night and it took at least 3 rounds to find a spot.
Very strange to me was there was not a bar package available for the wedding, you could have a cash bar or a tab bar and they expensive for any standard exceptionally expensive for Cedar Rapids.
The staff was all very nice and accommodating and even emailed me when I asked about early check in.
All and all the rooms where standard Marriott, and the hotel is pretty close to food and other things on Collins. -

Marriotts are starting to bum me out. I've had them as my "hotel of choice" for quite some time, but the corporation is stiffing the people who stay at its higher end properties, like the Marriott hotels. Almost all Marriott Courtyards I stay in have re-done rooms, marble bathrooms and often big, flat-screen TVs...this Marriott IS your grandma's Marriott! The fake speckled paint on the ancient wooden furniture looks like an old lady's house. It galls me that they charge the rates that they do, and THEN nab you for the $9.95/day internet fee when almost everywhere else I stay doesn't. The only upside is the concierge lounge, which isn't open most of the time anymore. I think I'll find me a new hotel chain and if you are in Cedar Rapids, there are probably better choices.
