My brother and I checked out this restaurant last night, when I was in the mood for a dinner on a sun bathed patio and a glass of wine. When we arrived, we were quickly seated on the patio and a waitress soon arrived to take our orders. I had a glass of the Naked Grape Cabernet Sauvignon; not a particularly great wine, but for $5.45 a glass I've had far worse.
We decided that instead of ordering mains (although they look delicious, and I hope to return and try out the blue cheese, mushroom, and onion laden burger), we would order a plate of nachos. We opted for the "full size" for $13.95, for my brother is sixteen and could probably polish off a water buffalo if he tried. What arrived was one of the most ginormous plates of nachos I have ever seen. A flour tortilla was topped with crispy corn chips, three types of cheese, jalapenos, olives, tomatoes, and green onion. To my surprise and delight, the chips were layered with the toppings, so that even when we got to the bottom, there were still chips dripping with cheese. The whole platter had been baked so that there were crispy bit of cheese on the sides, and drippy melted cheese in the middle. To accompany the mountain of chips was a mango tomato salsa and sour cream. I'm not one to rave about nachos, but these were delicious.
The service was a little slow, but our waitress was friendly enough to make up for it. The patio wasn't too busy; however, hopefully as they become a little more known, they'll have a few more customers. This restaurant is a much needed addition to the Lynn Valley community and hope that they manage to survive and thrive. -

I'm no more or less impressed with Cedar Grove than I was with Rocky Mountain that was in here before.
Certainly there are more choices now besides Pizza, but nothing really exciting. I love the look of that stone oven and I'm sure it's great if you can eat regular Pizzas and hot garlic breads. In fact most of the menu is quite palatable if you can eat outside the confines of a food allergy.
It's a really large, clean space in there. Bi-level and with the addition of flat screen TV's it was our choice for the World Cup Spain vs Portugal game today.
Portugal lost and the Spanish kids celebrated at a nearby table. I was pulling for Portugal. :-(
Our server today was German, and they offer a German special on Tuesdays. (I'm sure there's a parallel there.)
I had the *gf Pizza. (*no less than FOUR bucks extra for my 'special' non gluten crust which I then polluted with a glutenous pepperoni with out thinking.) I'm so mad at myself right now. The crusts are great --if your teeth are really strong.
I don't mind going back and trying something else sometime but I'm not terribly excited. -

Arrived at about 7pm on Saturday night and were seated right away. This restaurant is in the same place the Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company was at Lynn Valley Centre... it still has the same set up inside, minus the kids' play kitchen. It wasn't that busy tonight.
We were seated next to the bar and the forno oven. After being seated really fast, we had to wait a long time for a server to come talk to us, but after that, our service was okay. I am curious to know why the table we sat at was the only one without seat cushions. Seriously, every other seat had cushions except for the ones we were sitting on.
Since we were right beside the forno oven, we got to watched our appie being prepared. It was confusing to see one of the cooks whacking the pieces of bread before placing them on the cutting board. We started with a half order of the baked cheese and it came with garlic bread, apples and fig jam. Oh, it was so yummy! The brie was so soft and stayed perfectly melted in the ceramic container. The fig jam was so good, we kept it even after we finished the bread and cheese and ate it with our forks. It was so worth it.
I was tempted to have the soup and salad because I am a sucker for a tomato soup with beans (the special soup was Sante Fe chicken), but the urge for meat took over. I had the Black and Blue Burger: the burger was juicy, the bun was so soft and came topped with blue cheese and fried mushrooms. You have your choice of salad, soup or fries--- I am so glad I chose the fries. Some of the blue cheese fell out of the burger and melted on the fries and it tasted so good.
My fiance had the Bangkok Bowl and it can either come with chicken or shrimp. I didn't try it, but he told me that he never had anything like that in Thailand. I think it had something to do with the fact that it came with naan.
No room for dessert, but they have key lime cheesecake. I love every word of that. I was so happy with dinner, I want to come back and try their brunch.
