New York, NY
This place epitomizes fresh and friendly neighborhood cafes.
They bake their own bread and make all their side dishes and toppings (chutneys, compotes, etc.) right on the premises. You can taste the freshness in all of their food. I came here for brunch and ordered the french toast, which they made with freshly baked bread pulled right out of the oven and homemade cinnamon apple compote. Delicious!
I've been here twice and both times, the service has been excellent. The owner and waiters are all really friendly and attentive and the cafe just has this warm, cozy vibe. They also do take-out, which you can call in! -

CANAL STREET, NY
This is a superb spot for cafe standards. Everything is very fresh and tasty.
One *major* complaint: Dave Matthews Band and related 90s fare on the stereo. Pretty much every time I come here conversation grinds to a halt when everyone becomes self-conscious as they're subjected to stereotypical pop-jam band classics. My suggestion: rip that off the stereo asap. Stick to classic jazz or anything less cloying than Sublime and Matchbox 20. Downtown Music Gallery is just a few blocks away. Get them to hook you up with some good music suitable for a relaxing cafe environment! And might as well switch out some of the artwork while you're at it... -

Some famous musician, who lives in the area, once quipped that Twin Bridges is the only neighborhood left in Manhattan that does not have a Starbucks. Well, now it has CC's Cafe.
CC's Cafe is a cozy place hidden on Monroe street. That said, it seems out of place for the neighborhood. Maybe it is a bit ahead of its time, regardless, I very much welcome this type of cafe to the area and hope it can survive. Their prices are consistent with any cafe in Manhattan, but since this area has not really gentrified, I suspect some will skip it.
I have been in a few times to get bagels on the weekend....which they never seem to have for some reason. The service is excellent and the place has a nice vibe. Once of these days I will go for brunch and write an update when I do. -

I had lunch there and the food was amazing. I had a filet mignon and since I love meat I found it one of the best I ve tried in NY. The prices are very reasonable and you are not paying crazy amounts like in other restaurants in les. Probably because of the location. Also they have very good sandwiches for a takeout. The only thing I did not like much was the burger. I live nearby so this is my first choice every time I am hungry.
Ohh one advice when you go there should definitely try the cheesecake. -

Don't you wish you had a good friend who happened to be a talented chef and he cooked for you with lots of love? Well, smile, my friends. Your wish is coming true.
Remember, everything here is made in-house when possible. Gotta love that.
Just had a delicious dinner at CC's and it was the best meal I've had there. Tomas is the owner/chef and he's just a great guy with a big heart and a lot of talent.
Ordered the Flank Steak with Tomatillo sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts. The steak was already sliced with beautifully charred edges. It was juicy and tender and married with a wonderfully sweet and tangy gravy/sauce. The mashed potatoes were simple and perfect, as were the fresh shredded Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were fresh and crisp.
The wifey ordered Portobello Penne with grilled chicken. Another Wowzer! Al dente penne with just the right amount of savory portobello sauce to coat the pasta, topped with sliced grilled chicken breast. It's the kind of delicious that you wish you could make at home.
For dessert, we shared a light and airy mini cheesecake that must have been cut from a cloud in heaven. It certainly tasted heavenly! I'm going to claim it as the BEST CHEESECAKE I'VE EVER HAD. Yup, that good. Eileen's used to be first, but she's just been bumped down.
Shout out to our server Miguel who was attentive and friendly.
Tomas tells us he's working on a gluten-free spinach gnocchi. Can't wait to try it!Listed in: My neighborhood

We came here on Sunday for brunch. It was on such a hidden and bizzare street in Chinatown that I don't think a Western cafe will exist or survive. However, it was a great addition to the area.
It looks to be Mexican American cuisine and we decided to get the brunch menu. The price is reasonable and food is excellent.
I ordered a Mexican Style Omelet and it is very fresh, cheesy with tasty tingy salsa inside. it also comes with a side of Spring salad or home fries. My salad was fresh and the dressing is great.
Unfortunately, they seemed to have run out of a lot of things at 2PM. They ran out of home fries and they did not have chocolate for cafe Mocha, which is rather odd. I guess they are new so they don't stock very well yet!?
The owner was nice enough to apologize and offer other alternatives. We should return for more! -

It's only a 2 second walk from my apartment, it's clean, new and cozy. The food is okay, it is what it is. I'm under the impression that I'm not the biggest fan because this isn't my style of food or because it's not done as well as it could be. The strongest part about this joint is the ambiance.

I just moved to Chinatown and apparently so did CC's... I think it was meant to be :) I love New American cuisine and the food here is delicious!
*BEST QUESADILLAS EVER. I swear they sprinkled crack in there. The guy who reviewed below me described them for ya. You just have to try it for yourself.
The dinner menu changes often to guarantee freshness. I've had 3 dinner entrees so far that were all great - seared grouper with mashed potatoes, blackened pepper tuna medium rare, jalapeno chicken - just to give you an idea.
Only downfall - It can be a bit pricey. $10-15 for dinner entrees that miiiight not leave you full if you're a grown ass 175 lb man... but I always leave stuffed & happy :P -

Original! Tasty! Great service in an intimate setting. This is one of my favorite places to eat in the city. Tomas, the chef, cooks up lots of flavorful dishes with his unique twist.

KNICKERBOCKER, NY
We live around the corner and just opened up an art gallery down the block at 47 Monroe Street. We end up ordering from here quite a lot. There's not many options around here except for Asian food. Don't get me wrong, I love Asian food but sometimes, you need something else. This is our escape! CC's has a great, friendly staff and the food is amazing! I recommend this place to all of our friends in the neighborhood and everyone seems to agree.

Ate dinner here with a bunch of friends. Tasty food. Friendly service. Great to see CC's found a second space to stretch out into more serious "entree territory." I also liked their wine selection. Do this.

I've lived in Chinatown for over 20 years, and this is the restaurant I've been waiting for. True quality food at a reasonable price. Also, they now have their liquor license!
