"Museum" is a bit of a misnomer.  Don't expect to spend the entire afternoon here as it's about the size of a modest museum exhibit.

The exhibits and artifacts are marvelous.  Plenty of old legacy CBC radio gear and some television set pieces, props and costumes as well.  As a broadcasting professional I take an interest in this kind of stuff and don't regret making the trip for a second, even though the museum was much smaller than I expected.  if you enter the building by the Hockey Night scene set in the lobby, take a right down a staircase (by the awards case) and maybe down another there's another exhibit around that area, can't remember more specifics than that.  Glad I stumbled upon it while wandering aimlessly around the ground floor because it contains some interesting old pictures from the production side, talent jackets and other general artifacts of obsolete analog production.  The other side of the exhibit was an equipment storage room with prominent items displayed and explained (ancient film projectors, prompters, titling rollers, I love that crap.)

I was a little disappointed that there were no public studio tours available, I asked the guard since I allotted way too much time in my day for the size of this place.  Either way, good for the CBC for maintaining this so the public may visit and enjoy.  I'll find and post some pictures eventually.

Surprised no one reviewed this place.

Theres is always two exhibits on a time, and these change once in a while.

The two currently on display are childhood shows that were on the CBC and different sound technologies that were used (various microphones, recording devices, and sound effect machines and methods).

It is aesthetically really cool with bold coloured walls which feature TV screens actually showing clips from the shows and pictures of various actors/characters with written descriptions about them. There is also different boxes which features various devices and things pertaining to the exhibits.

Another cool feature is various hands-on interactive things like a computer screen where you can select and see different clips from TV shows, a sound board you can play with, amongst others. It's a great feature in general, but also good for those who want to bring kids who won't be bored.

There is also the Graham Spry Theatre which is actually one room where there is a screen and wooden attached seats where they show a different CBC documentary every day, I believe. It's very cute.

I must note that the name "museum" is not the best term as it's not a place with several rooms (there is only one). It is a small exhibit and you could finish it in about 15 minutes so don't make it a day event to visit this place. But if you have a day off or perhaps in the area, check it out.

Very cool mini museum that is educational, enjoyable, and even fun. Good for those who grew up with the CBC, and for those who want to know more about it.

Within walking distance of St. Andrew station, open Monday to Friday 9AM-5PM, and free.
