Castle Maintenance Services called today for some reason. My wife answered the call because I was on another call at the time. My wife tried to find out what the company was calling about but was refused.
The woman on the phone had asked for my father. We are staying at the house because my father is in hospital. My wife asked if they'd leave a message for my father to call them back. The woman refused.
Frankly if a company is going to make telemarketing calls they should be up front about the nature of the call and also decent enough to leave a call back number in case we want to have them do work for us -- or in this case for my father.
Since the employee was apparently untrained in how to handle anything but a call where they can pitch on their terms -- I'd give this company a bit fat "F" for failure. Failure to treat a prospect as a potential source of value.
I feel like this company wasted our time. My wife answered the phone in good faith and was not treated well. Companies that do outbound telemarketing should never give their company name and should block their call display if they are not going to treat the people they call with respect.
