I'm a regular here at Cass St for a reason...I LOVE IT.

You cant beat their prices, they always have pitchers on sale. A Couple pool tables and other games. Great staff and even better service. The food is really good too. I highly recommend it!

This place is great for hanging out with friends.  On Tuesday the beers are cheap and they have pool tables and a shuffle board table.  On Tuesday the tables are pretty packed.

The downside to this place is that they only offer beer and sake.  This place would get 5 stars if I could get a mixed drink.

Smells like beer and urine !
    Barstools are ripped !
Bartender and Bar did not look very clean.

I would never go back, torta is full of mayo.
Prices are good, but food needs a lot of work.

Stopped by today for brunch. I got the fish plate with salad and sautéed veggies (it's comes with two sides! The other options were garlic bread and potatoes)

The fish for today was salmon and was incredibly juicy and flavorful! It came with a wedge of lime and some tartar sauce but the salmon was delicious enough by itself. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the sautéed veggies ( carrots and zucchini slivers). Wish there was more of the veggies on my plate but overall, the portion size was fitting, especially for the price of around ten dollars.

The boyfriend got the ultimate omelette and wolfed down the entire thing. This is a testament to the deliciousness of the meal since his appetite is not as hearty as mine and often leaves lots of leftovers for me to swoop down on.

I hate to do this to one of my most beloved spots but Cass St. Bar & Grill needs a reality check.

First off, I have been dining here for at least 17 years and have enjoyed many good times and a lot of great food. This review pertains to the last couple times I have patronized this establishment.

As of late, the high standards that I had come to expect from Cass St. have fallen. One of my favorite sandwiches, the Teriyaki Steak Sandwich, has fallen on hard times. A mere shadow of the once mighty sandwich it was, it is now half-assed and puny. This used to be a sandwich you could barely finish, now it's a hollowed out baguette with a little steak thrown in and plenty of bread or just empty space.

In many ways this is their flagship sandwich which my friends and myself have often eagerly looked forward to. Not so much anymore. You can chalk up a crappy sandwich to an 'off-night' just so many times before you realize that they are just plain skimping.

Other offerings have fallen off as well, such as the pan fried potatoes. This used to be overflowing with potatoes and cheese, now it barely fills the bowl they come in.

Let me put it this way, last time I went I ordered the Teriyaki Steak Sandwich , a salad, and split an order of potatoes. This would usually mean  full stomach and satisfaction. This last time I left hungry and went home and ate a half of a sub sandwich with macaroni.

Now before you accuse me of being fat bodied sloth, I weigh 155 pounds and I'm very active.

So now what? Hopefully Cass St. will read this and come correct. We've seen the writing on the wall for some time now and we are starting to realize this is the new norm.

    Yours truly,

    Former lover of Cass St.

Just a cool place where everyone is welcome, old-timers and youngsters alike. After 20 years, never a disappointing meal. Great burgers and the oriental fish/chicken salad has been a mainstay for years, not to mention the cheesy potatoes. There are a slew of beers on tap, and the last two taps (of twelve) on the right hand side are typically the drafts deals of the shift. Grab seats at the bar or at the fold-out window areas to people watch. Bring your pool stick!

Their chicken caesar wrap is SOOOO delicious!! It never gets old.. And their breakfast/brunch menu is amazing.. In fact, I think I'll go this weekend. This place is super fun on the weekends and all the food is pretty tasty and decently priced. Cheap beer pitcher specials- LOVE the mimosa pitchers. They have pool tables and shuffle board- which adds to the fun.. Great location, especially for people watching. I share a lot of fond memories here, and like I said- I think I'll go this weekend! Why not.

Thanks for offering good beer, a crowd with very little to zero d-bags, quick service and cheap prices.

Have to give the service here a poor mark! Ordered cioppino was really looking forward to it. Surprise!  Instead they gave me some disgusting tomato soup w/cheeses.  I mean that's not even close!!
When we called to complain - she said she thought we'd said soup not cioppino - REALLY DO THEY EVEN SOUND ALIKE! MAJOR FAIL!!

My favorite bar in San Diego! The food is amazing and they have great beer.  It's the dive bar that is just too good to be a dive! Pool, shuffle board, and a great juke box! What more could you want (okay maybe hard liquor...but you won't miss it here!).

So I'm usually not much of a bar-goer, but I wanted to give a big shout out to the team at Cass St. Bar and Grill! Yesterday I parked right in front of their bar to get ready to walk over to my friend's apartment in PB, and as I was getting out, TOTALLY dropped a big glass bowl of hot mashed potatoes on the street! It was raining and I was in heels and I was devastated.

So fun for me, being a blonde in a smart car parked right outside a bar full of men who have been drinking and jacked up on the Packers/Chargers game, I got quite the audience! Joe the manager immediately ran out to help me clean it up, in fact, he didn't let me touch the broken glass, what a sweetheart!!!

I was surprised to hear that Joe wasn't the owner, because he truly took ownership of his bar and of the people inside and outside of it! It just goes to show that they must have a really great team there if it's run by such a helpful manager. Thanks guys!

I would never choose to spend my entire time at Cass, but it's definitely a great place to just hang out with your friends / play shuffleboard.  The music here isn't too loud, so you'll actually be able to hear what other people are saying without leaning in uncomfortable close or shouting.

They have pretty good deals for pitchers I think, but they don't have a full liquor permit so they're not going to be able to make you a Midori sour or whatever fruity little drink you want.

Cass has always been a hit or miss when it comes to how crowded it gets.  I've been in here when there were only five people, but I've also been in here when it's been so packed that I couldn't find my friends that quickly.  The place is not very big, but gets the job done.  I would definitely recommend starting or finishing your night here :)

I don't really like going to PB. Ever. If my friends are going, I'll usually drop a lame excuse like, "mmm not feeling well," or "gotta wash my hair!"

But this place makes me re-think my anti-PB renegade. The beer is really inexpensive, the vibe very non-douchey and music is good.

Added bonus for the ladies? The ratio is 4:1. Sup.

Fun bar with great drink specials and lots of entertainment.  Can't speak to the food, though lots of tables were ordering.  The service (read: bouncer and guys who walk around the bar monitoring) were pretty brusque and not too friendly, but that didn't really detract.  They have pool tables, and a shuffleboard table dominated all night long by a couple of locals.  Definitely a fun spot in PB.

Wish they had one up here in the South Bay! Everything I have ordered over the years has been really delicious: oriental fish salad, cioppino, breakfast, potatoes, beef sandwich... It makes my stomach growl just thinking about it! Wish they had a better parking situation (street), but it is so worth it. It's a great bar too and everyone is nice. I lived right down the street and went for about 8 year and countless time, and it was consistently sooooo good!

The ciopinno (seafood stew) was really good. My boyfriend ordered the soup of the day, which was a tomato artichoke bisque. Honestly it tasted like a bowl of pasta sauce...not a fan. I wouldn't necessarily come here just for the food. But if you're here to drink anyway, grab some food. I say go with the ciopinno.

I've gone here for years and as much as I love spreading the word about my favorite places- it bums me out that more and more people are learning about the amazing-ness of this place, only because it now gets super, super crowded. But the secret is out now, so now I'll write a review:)

I'm a sucker for beer that is really cheap and really good. Ask what the specials are. Cause each night they have 3 beers on tap that are available for 7.50 a pitcher. YES. 7.50. In my day (aka 2 years ago) 7.50 pitchers were available all night, but now it's until 10:30pm I believe. :( Also, I always keep a deck of cards and a clean quarter in my purse because their tables are great for drinking games.

Oriental chicken salad is AMAZING. Just try to remember to ask for the dressing on the side. Or else they will DRENCH your salad with the dressing. This dressing, by the way, is crack. It is sooooo good. And if you ask for the dressing on the side, I guarantee you will have extra, which you can take home and store in the fridge!

The combination of cheap&good beer, great food, laid-back atmosphere, and shuffleboard makes it, by far, my favorite bar, ever.

I like this place.  It's a great local sports bar with delicious food, good company, and cheap beer.  Everyone who works here is super friendly...they're close like family.  Most of the people who come here seem to be regulars - everyone knows everyone else by name!  I love it :)

The food is great!  I highly recommend the teriyaki burger.  Their hotdog/chili dog was delicious too.

I love the atmosphere here.  It's just so casual and laid-back - totally summarizes PB.  They have shuffleboard, a pool table, TVs everywhere (and they always have soccer on!).. and if none of that satisfies you, you can always just sit by the window and people watch!  :D

Great place to hang out, chat, and catch up with friends.

Listen to me.  Go here.  Get the Chicken Baguette Sandwich.  Then we can talk about how much you loved it.

The bread is warm and delicious, the chicken and dijon combination gets an A+.  Whatever they put in there is akin to crack because once you've had it, you'll begin to crave it.

The vibe here is very laid back.  It's a dive bar with one of the best sandwiches that I've ever had.  It's inexpensive and delicious.

    Eat it and love it!

I was looking for a cheap place to grab a drink and yelp guided my way here. I loved the feel of the place. The bartenders look like they had been there for a while. The internal structure of the bar had that classic worn wood look. It feels like a place that has been there for a while and will be there for a while. It made me want to be a regular, to see the big games and get load.

On my stop I got a few strong cheap drinks, and ordered the salmon with mixed vegetables. It was shockingly good.

I enjoyed my experience and would go back no question.

    Cheers

This place is so unassuming for good food, because it is a neighborhood bar.  However, don't judge a book by its cover.  They have delicious food! The chicken sandwich is a healthy option.  The cheesy potatoes are delectable.  The fresh fish plate is ridonkulous!  Also, the cranberry mimosas for sunday brunch are not found anywhere else by the pitcher.  I love it!!  To top it all off, they have shuffle board and pool tables.  This bar is a great spot for food and fun!

Cass Street is the bar I'd either go to to start the night or end the night, depending on my goals that evening.

They have $8 pitchers every night that includes a variety greater than that of gutter beers. The place is usually a bit more low-key earlier in the night which makes for a perfect place to round the troops and draw a plan for a drunken PB mess.

I remember the food being extremely fair priced and some of the best bar food available in the area. I don't know how they have the kitchen for that large of a menu, but it's crammed in there.

On the tail end of a weekend night, the place is still crowded but not cramped and you can just relax and ride your buzz out until it's safe to drive home.

The shuffleboard table (though it has its faults) is in the best condition of the few bars in the neighborhood that have one. As a big fan of cordially intoxicated competition, this means a lot to me.

The quality of people sharing a good time at Cass St. is much better than other bars in PB. No one (usually) is plastered beyond effective communication and random strangers are easy to strike up small talk with. This might be due, in part, to the lack of hard liquor served here. This is fine with me because it filters out the 97 pound sorority girls contending with each other over the V-necked Spaniard from out of town.

Cass is a great place overall but for some reason lacks that bit of "Wow" that affords it the fifth star. Four will have to suffice.

    Hello Mr. Local Bar:

I'm writing in admiration and praise. Your beer selection is better than I have typically seen at some hot spots. $3.75 a pint is akin to a happy hour to me...and yet I don't believe I actually went during happy hour. Food under 10 bucks (with a kitchen that closes late) is definitely one to remember. The chili bowl and hot dog - WOW. The dog tasted like it was barbecued in my back yard over an open fire (surprisingly goes well with my drunken state - something I thought only burritos fulfilled).

Pool tables are there to keep the atmosphere relaxed and casual, and the shuffleboard spans the width of the entire wall! What delighted me the most was the variety of the crowd: From Mister regular-bar-hopper-for-a-beer-to-watch-the-game-an d-I-don't-give-a-$h%&-about-what-else-is-going-on to elderly-couple-on-a-casual-date to college-crowd-that-doesn't-feel-like-paying-$5-jus t-to-get-in-somewhere to ladys screw-boys-cause-they're-all-drama-and-you-don't-n eed-that-issshhhh-when-you've-got-US! to miss it's-my-f$%^&*in-birthday-and-I'm-going-to-get-tra shhhheeeddd!! you'll find just about everyone here.

I'm definitely going back. Parking is easy (I parked literally at the edge of the block), beer selection is awesome and cheap, and I don't have to feel worried about not looking all GQ! PB at it's finest.

I have been here several times and while I haven't been overly "wow'ed", I haven't been disappointed.  For the weekend, they have a great breakfast menu which varies from omelettes, scrambles, bagels and more.  The potatoes come with cheese, which is an automatic win.  They have a few selections with lobster or crab as well.  To drink, I would recommend the mimosas with orange juice and a splash of cranberry juice.  They are amazing and if you get them in pitcher form, you get a bottle of champagne and then some.

For your viewing pleasure, they have numerous tvs that offer many sports at anytime, especially during football and baseball season where you can catch any game you desire.  If you are not interested in watching sports or socializing with your friends, you can always occupy your time with shuffleboard or sitting at the window people-watching.

They have a large number of taps, so you are guaranteed a large beer selection that changes from time to time.  Parking is street parking, unless you find a paid lot somewhere close by, but again, it's a few blocks from the beach, so it's to be expected.

First time going to a bar that served only Rum, Tequila or Vodka....really? When I tried to order my usual drink, naturally I was confused as to why they didn't have it. What kind of bar doesn;t have whiskey? How the hell can't you make a Long Island? etc etc. After my initial confusion, I got my drink and it was the weakest tequila sunrise probably ever. Especially considering the cup size and the price. I assumed I pissed off the bartender with my confusion. On the plus side the food was delicious, Probably wouldn't go back though.

This is strictly about the food I ordered and not the staff, preparers, etc.

Was in the other night and "build your own fish tacos" were on special.  We had wanted to go to Latitude's, but the kitchen was closed, so we hit Cass St.

Well, the fish was a little overdone and the condiments/salsa were pretty weak.

Great place and god deals, just don't get the "build your own fish tacos" platter.

    I fucking love this place.

Don't want to see all those annoying PBDBs but still go to PB to get a beer with some friends? Check out Cass Street.

Super laid back. I always see people inside just eating food or catching up with friends. BTW, their food is pretty good. I'd stay away from their cheese potato appetizer but  their calamari sandwich is bomb. I asked what I should eat and the chef recommended it. He even said if I didn't like it to just bring it back and he would make something else for me. Superrrr nice.

During NFL game days, Coors Pitchers are only 7 bucks too.

Pool tables, shuffleboard, everything you could ask for in a bar.

I love the feeling of going to a bar and being able to have a private conversation with friends but still feel in a sports bar atmosphere.

I've always needed a DD after leaving this place because I just can't help but get wasted at such a cool place.

Cass St. is a true local PB Bar.  In other words, you don't get a lot of the out-of-town riff raff you typically see at bars on Garnet.

The bar is relatively small and and could probably be classified as something between a dive bar and small sports bar.

I love coming here for Saturday/Sunday morning drinking.  The pitchers of mimosas (which I think are some variation of grapefruit juice and rice wine) are awesome and relatively cheap.  Also, they have big open windows along the sidewalk that they open on nice days and you can smell the salt water.

I claim that the chicken baguette is one of the best sandwiches in all of Pacific Beach.  Also, the oriental salad is the bomb.  Both of these are MUST eats, not just at Cass St, but among all PB establishments.

Another great thing about this spot is the shuffleboard table...not many (if any) bars in the area have tables.

For an old little drive bar, this place is great.  The food is awesome and they have heap drinks.  They also have pool tables and a shuffle board.  Place is a cool place to eat and drink.

What's cool about this place is that there are not toooo much crazy drunks as compared to the other high profile bars in PB. I guess it's because it is a couple of blocks off the main road, Garnet Ave.

They have a semi-decent happy hour of $2.75 drafts or $7 on pitchers. The crowd seems normal; a wide variety of people from the young to the super old. Again, not as many obnoxious drunks here. They also have a cool eating establishment.

Good music, couple of pool tables, and there's actual parking available near this area. Serious...its that easy.
