I have to admit, I didn't have high hopes when the Pixies announced their show was going to be here. When it comes to Moncton and big name bands you never really have high hopes because before the Casino there was only the Coliseum and that place is notorious for having terrible acoustics, seating and security

We arrived for our Will Call tickets at the required time, stood in cue and were promptly served, given our tickets and ushered into the venue. The venue itself is mid range, someone had mentioned the capacity is 600 people but I can't verify that. It certainly looks like it could fit more standing room, which is what the Pixies show was.

The opening band took me by surprise. Not because they were good (they were) but because they sounded unbelievable. Best indoor concert sound wise I'd ever heard. The lighting was pretty great and photo friendly. Unlike the Coliseum, security here allowed you to take photos and video. Weird to me as a veteran concert go-er but pretty fantastic once you get over your amazement.

When the Pixies (!!!!!!!!!!!) came out they sounded phenomenal. Their light/video show was excellent and their smoke effects didn't almost kill me like the ones the Coliseum have attempted in the past.

I'm keen on some bigger names going to the Casino and hopefully it will draw more musicians in, aside from bands like U2 and the rolling Stones who can draw 10,000+ fans in an outdoor venue.

Due to the staff being fantastic, the sound in the venue being incredible and enjoying myself a lot more than I expected (even after a run in with some drunk assholes) I am shocked, yet honoured to be giving the Casino a 5 star rating.

Keep doing what you're doing, Casino N.B.!
